I have recently been wondering, since certain events transpired last week if people's sense of inflation is caused by the rising costs of delivery services and other similair products, which were just artificially cheap to begin with, to scoop up market share and now people are use to using it they are shocked when the cost has gone up to reflect the actual cost of providing the service and blame it on inflation.

I think you make a really interesting point. They’re playing a long game and evidently charging below cost to stifle competition. We had a startup down here called Milkrun that tried the same thing but couldn’t get the backing and folded. Us regular folks would be very wise not to put all their eggs in one basket, or else we might find the price of that basket is rather a lot more than we thought it was going to be…

Used to use Uber eats and Deliveroo quite often, but this year I've only used it once or twice after realising the waste of money it is. With one of them being in Paris when I arrived at the accommodation at 10pm...kinda had little choice not knowing the area.

Agreed the only time of actual convenience is abroad where you don’t actually know all the food joints… I was in Amsterdam and Uber Eats was a god send at 1am 😵‍💫 💨 😂😂😂

So true… and this is why they pay big Hollywood stars big bucks to try to make us trust and believe…if it’s good enough for Robert de Niro, it must be legit….!!!

recently, somehow.... their system put the delivery address as the restaurant where the pickup was... that was fun to sort out... no refund... app deleted forever.

Add these food delivery services do is make marginal food arrive cold and cost way too much. Hard pass.

I wont use the service. I do not want random people on my property that could hurt themselves and then go after me. Most do not have any sorta personal insurance and if they do it would be rare. I just got into a altercation with a driver who was delivering to the neighbor, They block the sidewalk, and it is my #1 pet peeve. Sidewalks are for pedestrians. Then run the tax situation and the drivers do not make any money. And most do not fully understand what to keep track of as a 1099. Have 2-3 meals that you can make in 15 mins or less and keep the ingredients in your house at all times and call it good. I hate everything about this service. Save money. Make a sandwich.
