One significant element of the difference in weight between a 3.5L EcoBoost twin turbo V6 and a 5.2L supercharged V8, is the weight of the very different intercooler systems. The V8 has an air to water intercooler system(weight of the water, pumps, plumbing, 2 heat exchangers) vs the lighter less complicated air to air intercooled turbo system.

I think it would be pointless for Ram to respond, as Ford will always end up beating them, lol. On a serious note, Dodge needs to focus on the future because regardless of what party is in power, we all know there will be a shift towards electric, or at least more of a hybrid future. Ford has already started doing it, and even though Dodge has announced some electric models, they are way behind. Dodge is not even worth half of what Ford is, and if they keep being stubborn with muscle, they will muscle themselves out of existence.
@ShopJock2 жыл бұрын
Historically chrystler has always had cool cars just late to the party
@mopardude7072 жыл бұрын
@@ShopJock Idk if that was truly the case. If you look way back that first model t that was successful by Ford was the hands of the dodge brothers who built the whole truck technically. Then when ram first announced the fastest truck in the 70s with the lil red express the challenge began. But even then dodge had the power wagon that's been known for offroading for decades even til now. They just never made a faster or purpose Baja only truck til now with their TRX. Before I get off what I saying then the birth of the syclone and typhoon came around. Although even before GMC release those dodge had already built a Dakota Shelby. After GMC made those trucks then they took the first place of the fastest pickup around. Then GMC went with a big block V8 in the Silverado given the 454ss name. Couple years later then Ford introduced the first genf150 lightning Then they did a remake of the lightning til 04 second gen. Ram had concept but never released it. And introduced the Dakota rt. Durango rt and Durango Shelby. Now being in the 2000s era. Chevy made a Silverado SS. Chevy SSR. Trail blazer SS. Then ram brought the ram srt10 that then took the title of the fastest in the world production truck. Took plus 10years to then barely be as fast or faster. Right after Ford took forever to replace their 5.4 Triton and 4.6 and V6. By 2011 they stepped in and replaced it with V6 twin turbo options 2.7 and 3.5. actually let me add a couple Ford made too but wasn't any faster than their lightning which were their Harley Davidson f150s. And their roush nitemare edition. Ram did have more options but the viper truck was Thier ultimate edition. But going back 2011 that's when Ford started the move of the new generation to go V6 but with two turbos. As time passes on they developed it better til this day. But it was also the birth of the raptor in 2010 or 2011. But even then people forgot that ram introduced the ram runner package to convert your truck add on a suspension kit and prerunner body to compete against the raptor. Although ram did have the power wagon as the ultimate offroading truck that's been capable of rock climbing and going to the dunes. Not fast but doing it slow and getting it done. But that was in 2005 and present. Even though the power wagon has existed since 1941 to 1981 and then 2005 til now. Ram just decided to join in the fun and test waters. With a ram 1500 pre runner edition. So I don't see why many people try to say Ford raptor leading for ten years when it isn't true. Their just misinformed. TRX then became the new truck to step down on the raptor. Now it took Ford two years to answer they still haven't only been leaking info and rumors that is going to have a v8 finally. Which is the 5.2 with a supercharger. Tbh I'm glad it's about time they want that route. Now we just gotta see the truck ourselves and I can say I'm excited to see raptor r come out. maybe your right but in cars though. I remember there was time right when muscle cars came out. Dodge stop making the challenger and charger while the other two kept making new gens everytime. Until dodge finally responded in the 2000s era with the charger and the challenger so they did take a while I give credit on that. There was a charger concept in 1999 but never was made like usual Chrysler 😂 they make cool things but never give it to the crowd. But in 2014 or 2015 when dodge release the first hellcat they were definitely leading in the market for a while even after the demon dominated and still does til this day at the drag strip. But now speaking today's times now the other two have gotten pushed by dodge that they finally answered back as well with very powerful power trains.
@mopardude7072 жыл бұрын
Idk about that.. pointless I don't think so. Ford isn't as good as you believe. Ford is just good with marketing and selling. If you pay close attention how many recalls they keep getting and getting. I'm talking about the raptors in general. Within 200miles brand new not 200k miles they all have the same issue where the truck dies randomly. I mean power cut to the truck killing the battery and even sometimes frying the alternator. And it's not just their trucks it's their whole vehicles. From vans to SUVs. Ford hasnt been leading anything idk who ever even mentions such nonsense. Raptor r is Ford solution but as far as I can tell ram already introduced a concept 7 months ago on TFL of the rex Runner edition. They mentioned that the truck was a concept and that it was an all purpose built Baja truck. Idk if this is rams easter egg answer right after the r come out of the curtains but all I know is they'll come for it right after they made it clear when they made the image of trex eating raptors. If they made something like that I don't think they'll back down at all til they make it clear. As for supposedly Ford being the best offroad truck the power wagon has been out for centuries way before raptor was born and has been offroading all its life even going in the dunes and rock climbing. Ram never had an intention of building something to go fast in the dunes while Ford did. Ram answered to test waters with a prerunner truck ram runner to compete against the first gen raptor. The ram runner was faster and had a better suspension but it was definitely ages away from the raptor. The ram runner wasn't built with time it was in a hurry and just thrown parts at it. While Ford did do the math and took their time to build it. In other words the ram runner was a race ready Baja truck. Faster in the loose dirt than the raptor but sucked on normal day to day driving. While the raptor may not have been faster it did the driving on road and offroad smoother. Definitely why the raptor was a better choice but not the first offroading dominant truck everyone brags about. Plus ram had no interest they just wanted to play and toy with it. You can get the ram runner package even for 5th and 6th gen rams when it was made for the 4th gen. The only thing I can agree on your statement that ford did push the industry forward was the Ecoboost twin turbo v6s. That's what made them be ahead in only engineering something new not being better. Quality is totally not good. Especially when they went from steel to aluminum recycled metal. Theirs a video of a dude tearing in half a fender with his bare hands 🤭 and believe me leading I believe would be Toyota

Ford's current production lines can't keep up with demand for the current 3.5L Raptor. People are waiting 6 months to a year to get theirs. I placed an order for one in the very beginning of April and still don't have a production date yet. How will they manage to produce another Raptor variant while they can't keep up with the demand for the one currently for sale?

The jet at 9:25 is the SR-72 which is a fast recon plane supposed made to replace the Blackbird (SR-71) BUT the much more secretive ZIP-fuel-powered (i.e. Boranes fuel) "Green Lady" has been flying for 20 years now and before that was Senior Citizen (SR-75) with its Delta dart piggy back space plane starting in 1987 to around 1995 or so. The YF-24 which is 1994 or so. Then we also have the hypersonic "Pumpkin Seed" (aka GasPipe) which is Methane powered and THAT has been super-secret since the 1980's/1990's too! I should also mention the 1984 delta planform twin engine Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) companion aircraft to the F117a. LMCO (Lockheed Martin) also did that giant stealth blimp and its prototypes that were flying around the deeper more remote parts of San Francisco Bay in the 1990's and 2000's! Three more craft in 2004, 2006 and 2007 were also created and I think those are the long and pointy "SpearFisher" and the front forward-lifting canopy "Curvy-Wurvy-Wing" TSTO parasite craft (our own internal designation) and the successor to the SR-75 carrier aircraft which we internally call "Blarneystone" Most of these are high altitude recon aircraft or TSTO (Two Stage To Orbit) spaceplane delivery systems. There's also HALE-3/HALE-4 (High Altitude Long Endurance) drones from Scaled Composites and their spaceplane designs plus Northrup's B21 Raider Stealth Bomber and its still secret ECM companion craft from (i.e. WE THINK!) Boeing Phantomworks. And add-in some secret USAF-backed companies in one of Connecticut, Ohio or Upstate New York that made those fancy Electrostatic/HFGW/MFGW powered deep black triangles in the 1980's and 1990's. These were NOT stealth blimps but full on non-jet-engine powered stealth craft. SOOOOOOOO, there are a LOT of still-secret aircraft in the US inventory operated by the NRO (National Reconnaissance Office), the CIA (usually overseas), and various NSA-backed or USAF-backed secret labs. Last time I looked in 2022, there were over THIRTY active secret stealth/ECM/Attack/Recon/Drone aircraft and spacecraft SAP (Special Access Program)/CAP (Compartmentalized Access Program) projects in the USA! Even the US Army has their secret VTOL/STOL C17 Globemaster and C130 Hercules cargo carrier replacement projects and a secret fast and stealthy Attack Helicopter project! That's probably almost $25 Billion Dollars worth of aircraft/spacecraft research projects alone! Now You Know! V

@Tonyr02062 жыл бұрын
Good luck buying a Gen 3, 3.5L Raptor for less than $85K right now. Damned near impossible with all the dealer markups on them. I ordered one (thankfully at MSRP, about $83K) in April. I'm impatient though, and have been looking for "my build" online to see if I may be able to buy it sooner than it'll be built. Not all, but pretty much every dealership is selling at a minimum $10K over MSRP. I've seen as high as $40K over!
@hotrod76032 жыл бұрын
You can't get a ecoboost raptor under 100k , getting raptor r under 85k is like saying lion eats grass.

So ford went back just a smaller Displacement and more torque than 6.2 which to me is still good but the 5.2 lighter I think. Ford beat trx with the Shelby f150

Awesome. Thanks for uncovering all of this 👍
@aaronbritt20252 жыл бұрын
@1:52... Small correction... The 5.2 in the GT500 isn't a flat plane crank. Only the 350 has that. BTW, I'm thinking this is still a powertrain test mule and not a final production truck, hence the lack of visual differences from the standard Raptor.

I doubt ram will be able to respond. The raptor is 2023 truck . the response would be what , 2025? By which point the Hemi might be completely replaced by the straight 6 engines. I am not completely sure they will capable of putting out the same power, as they put out similar power with a turbo as an NA 6.4l srt does.

Super excited about this. Would swap my Gen 2 in a heart beat for the R. Hope it's do able. Have had 3 dealers tell me any and all allocations they get for the R will go to dealer owners, their friends, and or dealer employees. Been trying to get on a list for the last year. I shouldn't have to be on the inside or own a dealership to get a shot at owning one of these.
@pkrpro192 жыл бұрын
Dealerships own the allocations for all Raptors. They get to choose who they sell it too. 🤷🏼♂️

Not a flat plane crank, that’s the GT350 “Voodoo” not the 5.2 “Predator”
@busardr1452 Жыл бұрын
1:52 The 5.2 Supercharged V8 that is in the new Mustang GT500 IS NOT A FLAT-PLANE CRANK ENGINE!!! It is a cross-plane crank engine. 5:32 You are pointing to GVWR 7450 Package. THAT IS NOT THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK!!! The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating tells you how much your vehicle can weigh safely. This figure includes curb weight (what your vehicle weighs when empty of passengers or materials) plus the weight of passengers, accessories, fuel, any other materials carried inside the cabin, and the “tongue weight” of a tow trailer. On the window sticker or Monroney sticker it says GVWR package. This usually means an upgrade to the chassis so the vehicle can handle higher payloads and/or higher towing capacities. It is not the weight. I expect people that talk about trucks to actually know about trucks.

HORSE POWERWISE speaking, now aday is 2022 already, you guys know back in 2000, sport car racing used 3 litter natural aspirated v10 engine pumped out 900 horse, that is 300 horse one liter. comparision speaking to this v8 ford engine, 5.2 liter, only kickout 800 horse??? I know that we not talking invest vast amount of money for racing. but 22 years ago, one liter punch out 300 horse, now 22 years later, why don't we achieve that technology and put it into auto consumer's market today??? that means we don't need large 5 liter engine, we only need 3 liter v6 or v8 and easily pump out 1000 pony tails. come on detroit engineer guys.....

Raptors are nice nd mihjy be thw best off the lot 5x4 off the lot you csn buy. I wiykd not want to spend that much and take it off road fast and hard. I am thinking of a full size Brinco. The TTB independent front suspension plated and gusseted is very strong. 18inches frint and more rear on Deaver springs even more. Not loosing interior witha good frame yo frsme shock tower. The Raptor has 13 front and `3,9 rearNice Fox shocks but I prefer Kings. A internal balanced well built engine heads exaust. Gears and lockers and it would be hard to beat and go about anywhere fast and in control smooth over the whoops and bumps. The old Full size Bronco from 87 - 96,

Too bad you already can’t get a Gen3 for less than $10,000 ADM….. TRX $80,000 Gen3 $90,000 plus Raptor R easy $130,000 If that turns true $50,000 wouldn’t make sense for that difference.
