Man, I did times square once and it was horrible... so cold and just way too many people. Plus the cops were only letting you walk in one direction. Some good alternatives here that you presented. One other great alternative: crash parties in Chelsea. We just walked into some big apartment with a ton of people partying and got some great free booze and food 😉 (for educational purposes only)

The dive bar is the place to be as for me if I’m in NewYork . This year it’s bed for me have been up since three thirty this morning started work 4.30 am so no Sydney fireworks for me this year. Cheapest hotels of the year are 1 to 4 days after new years eve,just shop around ,if you dont mind traveling tp nyc when its usually cold as a freezer,the hotels are cheaper

I tried to celebrate in Times Square! But, when I got to a security checkpoint, the cops told me that I would have to throw away my bag! At that point I was already annoyed by the crowd! People were pushing and in a rush for no reason! 😂 Anyway, Happy New Year! 🥂🍾🎉

Nah, just drink a ton of water that morning get super hydrated. Then like and hour and a half before you leave stop drinking. Then at 10:30ish when you are there bring a water bottle and chug it. I didn’t have to go to the bathroom at all when I was there 7 and half hours. It’s not that hard.

There’s a website that gives you all the info, and they said there will be no portapottys. I cannot imagine sitting there, in the rain this year, for 6 plus hours in Times Square, and nowhere to one. I heard some travelers wear diapers under their insulated outfits.. Don't drink much in the morning, then go to the bathroom just before you leave for Times Square and then don't drink anything while you're there. We all held it for 9 hours until we got home. You can't walk anywhere - once you're in your spot, you don't move until after midnight. -Brian
