I always wonder how many people are listening to a Bee Gees song at any given moment all over the world. Wouldn't that be something if we could hover above the earth and listen. I bet the entire universe would be veiled with these angels' voices.

Such a beautiful song sung to perfection by Robin & Alistair. I wonder how painful it was for Robin to sing this so soon after his beloved Maurice had passed away. The two voices blend so beautifully with great emotion and I love how Robin clenched his fists to his chest, something that he always did in the old days. Thank you Chad for remembering Robin in this way this weekend. Must go now, my eyes are leaking x

I love that you zeroed in on the clenched fist!😉 Robin had those certain signature moves when he sang, huh!? Sometimes he looked like he was conducting an invisible orchestra, and of course his hand to his ear thing, before they had earbuds!😜 I missed that in their later performances. As he got older Robin wasn't as demonstrative on stage. But when he was young he could be a real live-wire at their concerts! He was as interesting and fun to watch as to listen to!!😉😜
@miriamkirk72932 жыл бұрын
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 I loved the young Robin's epic dance moves and I agree that he was just as much fun to watch as he was to listen to. I never felt that he found it awkward not to have an instrument to play. He just got so lost in the music and lyrics. I can't even stand in a queue without having something in my hands to fiddle with, usually keys or my mobile 🙄

@@miriamkirk7293 Robin was a beautiful hot mess!😁 LOL. A very long-term follower of the brothers once stated under a video of theirs, that Robin was "window-shopping" again!😉 Because Robin had developed a habit of walking around behind Barry and pacing back-and-forth across the stage until it was his time for his part of the song! Or sometimes he would 'hide' behind Barry and suddenly jump out to the mic when it was his turn! (This was later on though.) And Oh Gawd! Robins dancing was Epic!!Haha! Robin couldn't dance or carry a beat to save his sweet life, BUT that didn't Stop Robin from doing his thang!😜 Sometimes when I'm feeling down or got a case of the 'Blues', I scroll on over to a few of Robins epic dance move videos and before I know it I'm Laughing Out Loud for sure!!😁😉 and I've always loved Robins mischievous little smile! (I wonder if he ever had an idea of how much joy he brought to Sooo many of us??)

I think I just melted into my chair. Two beautiful voices. Still give the edge to RHG. So vulnerable and soulful. When he sings you BELIEVE every word he says.. Robin was always willing to share the stage and promote new talent. He did say though, commenting on new artists, that music should not be a beauty contest and that songwriting was SO very important. No good songwriters, nothing good to sing.

It was so sad that we will never hear from the 3 brothers singing in unison again but we do have all the beautiful song up until Mo's death. After Mo's death Robin threw himself into other projects, this including mentoring Alistair Griffin, Alistair toured with Robin as well. Robin was a big proponent of new talented young people being recognized and given a chance. Alistair has released this month "Forever Today" written in 2005 (2 yrs after Mo's death) by Robin and Alistair in honor of his mentor. I felt Robin was thinking of Mo when writing this song. Sadly he was not part of the recording but you can feel Robin in it. Thank you Chad for dedicating this weekend to Robin

When that Christmas video was first shown on KZbin, a long time fan of the Brothers stated that she wondered if that young man, Alistair, truly knew Who he was so honored to be singing with?? I think they both sounded so, so Good! Their voices blended and complimented each others voice. I have always preferred this version to The Bee Gees version with Barry singing lead. Yes, Barry sounded fine, but he used that light breathy voice and it didn't carry the emotional impact that this version does. Count on Robin to bring in the "feelings" to a song. His vocal changed a pretty song into a deep emotionally moving song. Have watched the Xmas version many times but it's been a while since I viewed it. Thanks for choosing this beautiful song, Chad!💜

Oh Chad, you did it again, what a wonderful DOUBLE reaction. And yes, Robin kills the song, I don't want to offend anybody here, just my preference, but this version even without his brothers, to me is much more touching than the original, as you said, Rob opens his mouth and we all get caught on his otherworldly voice. Now that you said even when Rob does not have the main part of the song he's able to give us chills over and over with his voice, great if you check 'First of May' with G4, you decide if it's worth for a reaction or just for yourself, but it's incredibly stunning, Rob on his 60s I think, singing with 4 very young men, with very powerful voices, and when he opens his mouth, My Lord!!! Please listen to that one and let me know 😊 and if you react to it I'm not going to be upset 😃

@@susieq9801 that's the whole thing about Robin. He just brings the emotion and makes you feel every word he sings. He said he sings with his heart and that's what always made him so special to all of us. He once said he liked the sound of his voice so he really wasn't up for the falcetto. Barry said he thought Robin didn't really find his voice until the train accident where he and his 1st wife before they married nearly were killed. I'm just so glad he found it. It's beautiful no matter what he sings. We were so lucky to have had him for the time we did.

@@christinestornable1816 - I think he found his voice, physically at least, way before Hither Green. Massachusetts was #1 before that. Because of that hit he and Molly were able to afford a first class coach back from Hastings where they were visiting her parents. All those killed were in 2nd class coaches. Barry did say though that the crash brought out the pathos in Robin's beautiful lyrics. It sure did change him from bring very outgoing to often being somber and moody. It was a shame that he never received treatment for his PTSD. It just wasn't done in those days. The emotion in his singing could bring a tear to a glass eye. His voice in the Bee Gees was the first one I heard back in 1967 when in my teens and I was hooked.

This was my first time hearing this live version of the song and my second or third time hearing this studio version of it. I remember not having a huge reaction to it and thinking that I much preferred the original “Still Waters” version of it because that version had all three Bee Gees singing it. That was quite awhile ago because I decided to only listen to the “Still Waters” version because I thought it was so much better than this version. But, when I was just listening to it in this video, I was in awe of how absolutely beautiful it was! I don't know what my problem was when I listened to it before! I think that Alistair Griffin sounds really good, but Robin's voice is just truly gorgeous and what really grabs me in the song! You're absolutely right! It doesn’t matter what Robin is doing in a song. As soon as he opens his mouth (I forget what you said after that, but...), pure beauty pours out of it! Now, I need to listen to the “Still Waters” version, even though I've listened to it lots of times before and I already know I love it, since I just listened to this version, and see which one I think I like better now. Although, right now, I think I could listen to this version over and over again. Great reaction, by the way!

In 2003 before Fame academy started ( a must see intelligent talent show), Robin undertook previously contracted appearances to promote Magnet, his new Solo Album, He was asked to be a mentor on Fame academy and he jumped at the chance because Contestants had to be able to sing, play an instrument, compose their own songs.Robin felt this was ideal as he had said often talent shows shouldn't be "beauty competitions": If you were lucky enough to get in, you lived in the academy for the duration of the show. Mentors came in and out throughout the week and the live show was on a Friday night where one was voted off by the public. Friday night's show was live and the mentors then became the judging panel. Robin was criticized for being too nice when it came to critiquing but he qualified this by saying young talent should be nurtured and given positive feedback rather than bruise them before they really blossom. Anyways the panel already had nasty Richard who held nothing back and Robin would get visibly uncomfortable. Robin was mentoring Alistair and although he didn't win, Alistair has since said he learned an awful lot from Robin and continued to do so after Fame academy ended. Two years later they were writing songs together and remained friends. Robin spent the rest of 2003 promoting his new solo album, Magnet from which the single Please came. He started travelling and performing from as early as one month after Mos passed, just breaking for Fame academy. Work is how Robin dealt with his gut wrenching grief which I felt he never recovered from......
