The song was written by both men but was never released so Alistair put it on his album and released on the 10th anniversary of Robin's death. I can see Robin thinking of MO when singing and writing this song.

I have trouble with disappearing comments! Apologies if this repeats. The piano at the start is very like Robin's "Days of Wine and Roses". Definitely his piano part. Whether he would admit it or not, after losing Mo he was bereft and knew his own end was near and I think these lyrics are very personal. He said to live every day like it's your last, "Forever Today". BEAUTIFUL song BEAUTIFULLY sung. His "spirit" walking out near the end is heartbreaking but he knew the song was in good hands. Well done Alistair! Robin could have become even more famous performing with other famous people and many would have jumped at the chance but he chose to mentor young singers and composers instead, not for his own glory. Oh, how we wish we could have had that one more day with Robin. Not to be. 😔😔

Chad, thank you, thank you, thank you! I wish I hadn't fallen asleep a few hours ago because I was waiting so patiently to see if you would react to this beautiful tribute Alistair did for Robin. I haven't read everyone's comments yet but this was indeed written by the two of them and finally appeared last year as the title song on Alistair's album for Robin. The entire album is wonderful. Alistair did an amazing job on songs he chose to honor his mentor and friend and I strongly suggest that everyone who loves Robin give the entire album a listen. I definitely promise that you won't be disappointed. "For Whom the Bell Tolls" would be good for starters. Again, thank you, Chad, for sharing this amazing video on such a sad day for all of us. 😢

RG'S, I just love Q's interpretation of Robin's departure from the theater. That explanation somehow leaves me with peaceful thoughts, both for him and me. I've definitely been in the doldrums for the past few days. I'm trying to shake these awful feelings that I'm having. That definitely helped.

Wonderful tribute and you were really stunned during the whole song Chad. You also reacted to 'My lover's prayer', a Bee Gees' song performed by Robin and Alistair, then they wrote together this gem, and even if Alistair's interpretation is very good, I can't help but imagine how beautiful it would sound if Robin had joined the song.

Chad we loved our precious local lad our mo n r rob too, u just sed u love reading the personal things about them , well here you go.. they lived round the corner from us and we were privileged to have them not far away, they were normal local cheeky giggle kids, they were funny on our streets, i remember our mo in particular his lovely smile lit up our dark grey sky rainy days, funny as, nif u think u got the slightest clue about the funny, uve have no idea , they chad were the funniest musical brothers ive ever had the best fortune to meet, rob also loved being so funny, and both lads did it with so much style n cuteness. The brothers from our home town of Manchester were the best guys so normal so humble n grounded the dad made sure of that, the ginnels were kids playing out the way of adults n cars was at times freezing n as the water trickled down ud see it in the moon light, wed get upto all sorts sum bit nawty n sum just funny, climbing walls half broken down, never knew the danger n we played marbles and sum lit stuff shouldn't but never harm to anyone just kids being kids as it was mostly matchboxes n the thrill of it along with the caps that went bang n even if you banged it with a stone. Fun it was. They used to love messing around and pretending to go to fall in the road s and do these side walks n eye brows lifts was so funny 🤣 and chad barry was a great big brother n the twins used to do everything to make him laugh n be lil scared too. Such memories, we got photos signed n in which we now treasure every day, n as i look as i types can see them on our wall, n thanked them for doing that. N god to think how quickly it came n the massive loss we still feel it hurts now badly, we loved them u see, our two lads mo n our rob so precious n feel honoured they were near us, n one thing i remember now is, one them think our mo, kept saying alls we want is the world to fall in love with us, and our songs and the writing we going to do .and were told by the backdoor, they will u lot they will , god i hope so rob sed. N now the joke on us as we left to miss them so so much. But now with broken Ness and a deep hole and a sadness that even over this time has been so hard n like unreal that they left, n now we know song angels of the highest order, n our mo got his rightful place , n now side by side brother to brother never be parted or alone again, n chad we bet these songs they doing right now are totally spectacular. N gifted be seen n heard by all above n me i cant wait to hear them, wow, n do we all truly know just how MUCH we lost, we never truly knew i think, coz they got wat they wanted n asked for, now blessed forever. We will never forget these local lads. Not EVER, thank you precious chad for wat you do and see the wonderful guys they are, n barry u got this u can do this. This is a beautiful tribute to Robin. Alistair was so blessed to have worked with him and i so agree with Laurie Barnes that the whole 'Forever Today' album is fantastic. It came up on my Spotify recently and have been listening to it since. Great choice Chad thank you so much x

Thanks, Miriam. I just want everyone to get to know Alistair a little bit better. He's such an amazing artist who had true admiration for his mentor and friend. Last year, after "Forever Today" was released and I purchased several cd's, I started listening to Alistair's other songs and just fell in love with him and his music. I wound up purchasing all of his cd's last year including a new Christmas cd. I can't wait for later this year so that I can purchase some of his earlier Christmas cd's that weren't listed when I put my order in. I just hope more people check him out and support him. He's truly amazing.

Yes, Miriam, I'd like to think that as well. They performed so well together that I often think about what they could have accomplished together if Robin was still with us today. I'm all but certain that this amazing performance on "Forever Today" by Alistair would most certainly have been a duet with Robin.

Even now chad as you cover them, the pain we feel daily remains strong n kills , its awful. Such a big loss. One day wel all see n hear them up close im so sure of that. Fantastic n they killed it in all they did. I love that you included this song in this marathon, even though it was never sung by a Gibb! It's a beautiful tribute to Robin by a man who was greatly helped by him with the start of his music career. The album from which this song is and, even, this song alone is proof of just how much Robin means to Alistair. I love how giving of his immense talents Robin was to new aspiring music artists! I've only ever heard of Alistair Griffin from his duet of “My Lover's Prayer” with Robin and, then, the album from which this song is. I really like his voice and would be interested in hearing what more of his music is like sometime.

Yes, I treated myself to all of Alistair's cd's, including "Forever Today" and his newest Christmas cd, last year. This amazing man is so talented. Robin really had the ability to nurture great talent when he came across it.

Although, I'm sure it takes more than just knowledge of what you're teaching to be a great teacher/mentor of anything, not just music. 'Cause I know that you can be so good at something that it frustrates you trying to teach someone else when they're not getting it, yet, or when they don't understand the way you're teaching them and, instead of trying to find another way to teach them, you get frustrated that they can't understand it the same way you can. But, it seems like Robin must've been very good at passing on what he'd learned throughout his career with others. Man, just imagine what it must've been like to be mentored by Robin Gibb in the ways of his legendary talent!
