Worth all the effort in your editing of Plaistow!! I do feel short-changed with synthetic corks. Glad you had a fall back corkscrew. On our work trips back to the UK we used to have a plastic corkscrew which would get through the checks ok, they weren't too happy with us opening bottles of wine on the plane though!! All the best!!

I'm with you regarding synthetic corks; awful things. I'll take a screw cap over a synthetic cork any day. I'm OK with crumbled and formed corks, but I'm always pleased to see a whole cork closing my bottle. I can't afford good Burgundy, so I make do just fine with Rhône wines.
