You can google it, Anyways, I love these movies where the endings are left to interpret, well this hole movie is about interpretation, My take is she died in that basement, no way sister Barnes could just muster enough strength after losing so much blood. Why does this film give me so much “The Lovely Bones” symbolism to it too?? Especially people really confused on the end if she died or is she alive. In “ The Lovely Bones” about another crazy man kidnapper killer, the young girl didn’t know she was dead just living in some alternate reality almost in a dreamlike state. Why does it seems like the ending is giving Sister Paxton that same “dreamlike state” with the butterfly and her seemingly escaping?
@bluecali4na4 күн бұрын
I think Sister Paxton is stuck in the in between like Susie was.

None of these explainers discuss the ending in terms of the simulation hypothesis, which makes just as much sense as any other expanation. The butterfly disappearing was the first sign that this iteration of the simulation was complete, and everything was being deleted, ready to reset for the next iteration.

@@DAVIDELLIOTT You're right because the simulation hypothesis was only mentioned for a short amount of time in comparison to him rambling on about religion, control and everything else. If indeed it was about the simulation, then I would've expected more references to it throughout the movie. Unless I missed it because I was so focused on him being a crazed athiest murderer trying to prove some wild theory about faith instead. Of course, I meant to watch the movie a second time but didn't get around to it. Or saw anyone else mention the simulation hypothesis online. Now I have even more questions. I simply thought the butterfly represented faith. I'm going to have to look this up now. Now I'm even more confused lol.

Imo she survives the butterfly was just in her mind which is why it disappears. You can see after it disappears she looks up as if she sees the non existent butterfly flying away. This signifying she still believes, whether it's the truth or not.

Question: The girls went through the door „belief“ did it change anything? I dont get it, because afterwards he tries the girl to convince miracles exist. But why, they went through belief? What would have changed if they would have chosen the other door „disbelief“? Can someone explain?
@kiwthebeauty7 күн бұрын
Both doors lead to the basement. It didn’t matter which belief you will all end up in the same place which was his point. The true religion to him was control. The whole thing was controlled.

Interesting take. But why do we see the butterfly just disappear and then the ominous and sudden void of silence, perhaps that was a moment of realization for Paxton that she is actually dead.
@michelagiordano338223 күн бұрын
I think the butterfly symbolises that belief is in your mind and you see what you want to believe. She believed that her friend came back as a butterfly in an omage to what she wanted to come back as but in truth it was all in her mind because the film is a constant reminder of how religioni is based on what you want to believe. Didn’t explain it well but I hope you understand what I think
@TheAmateursOriginalMusic23 күн бұрын
@ So did she die or escape? I think in the end the film forces you to believe in the hereafter which is kind of control?
@michelagiordano338223 күн бұрын
@@TheAmateursOriginalMusic I saw it as she is alive and she survived because of what she believes in, which does not mean that there is an afterlife, but that your belief gives you strenght (in fact she prays even though she says that it doesn’t serve a purpose). From the beginning she is the one more curious about the world surrounding them, so the reason she holds on to religion it is to consciously find comfort
