Reading this book as a youngster gives such a different impression than now as an adult. The genius of Frank Herbert lives on.

Noticed that you, as well as Quinn on his channel pronounce "Odrade" as O-drayd . When I read, my mental voice pronounced the name as O-draw-day. Just a silly thought that came to me in my sleepy head. Love your channel, thanks for all you do.

It's meant to be 'oh-dray-dee-', the name is explained upon the introduction of the character. It's derived from the name 'Atreides' and the pronunciation is more or less the same :)
@TheGavrael Жыл бұрын
I pronounced it Oh-DRAW-day because it is a derivitive of Atredies. So I assumed three syllables and the emphasis on the second.

Have you seen the new Netflix anime called, "Exception"? It has a, "Fantastic Planet", "Aeon Flux" vibe to it. I didn't like the very end because it was too convenient. But, on an art tip, it looks like it was colored with Doctor Martin inks. Very visually stunning, from the character to the prop design.

11:30 the new worms are also described to have some crystals on them for some reason. I feel like it would be cool to have a clear distinction between pre Tyrant worms and the Divided God worms 31:40 one of the many inconsistencies sprinkled throughout the saga From what I gathered Herbert's writing is way more focused on sociologic and philosphic ideas than it is focused on having a logical chain of events or even a truly coherant world that truly makes sense. I feel like to Frank, DUNE is primarily an outlet to for his thoughts on politics, religion and the human potential at large, rather than a clockwork piece of fiction. 38:00 ever thought of branching towards ASMR, Dan ? XD like a ASMR book club or movie review could work I'm sure! Also in one of the last chapters Frank weirldy talks about Gammu trees named Three P-O for no reason, other than to plant what I assume is a pun-easteregg towards Star Wars.

I like to think of Duncan OG and Hayt as the same entity, as Duncan's corpse was revitalized by the Axolotl Tanks and he was renorn as Hayt. Later iterations, however, were born from pieces of his DNA, and the Tleilaxu were not able to procure the original corpse because Leto II was a gatekeepy mf

In Dune, would Paul (Having been taught the voice from Jessica) have time to teach Duncan resistance to the voice when they were on Arakkis together(before the Harkonnan attack?) Hence the memories in Heritics of Dune!
@johill57022 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if it’s in this book or the next but they mentioned that this Duncan has cells from ALL previous Golas. There’s a chance he even has the Siona gene but they never risk testing it out.
The whole Duncan-remembering-Hayt's-memories thing has always bothered me! You see the same thing in GEoD. It might have indeed been a slip-up by Frank.
@NameIess1ne2 жыл бұрын
I mean isn't it possible he has multiple lives memories? Those crazy Axiltol tank folk have centuries or thousands of years of memories of lives.
@leeskinner96272 жыл бұрын
@@NameIess1ne Yes it's possible (have you actually read Heretics?). But in this book he shouldn't actually remember more than the original, until he is subjected to an imprinter... in the previous book we are told he's grown from the original, and yet has non-original memories. If that was Frank deliberately hinting that he has multiple lives in his memory, then it was an oddly casual way to do so. Slip-up seems far more likely.
@NameIess1ne2 жыл бұрын
@@leeskinner9627 Yes, I have read all of Frank Herberts Dune. I get your reasoning, my brain just assumed the Tlielaxu are always doing secret things with their gholas so thats why he would know.
