I loved the 70's.... We lived next to Noble & Lunds factory. One of my sister's worked at Jackson's The Tailors along on the by pass. We used to get xmas decorations out of the skips outside of Matadors Paper Mill which they threw out if they had any little faults. 😄 Get our ham shanks & bacon bones from Crawfords to make soup. The school that became Colemans Plastics was said to be haunted. 👻 It was. It was empty after being Colemans & a few of us went in through the open windows at the back & heard stuff moving so we legged it out of there much quicker than we climed in! 😳🏃 😆 Those were the days! Great fun we had. Had quite a few power cuts. Our mams used to turn off our tellys when we got thunder & lightning. Dragones ice cream was the best! 😋 Showaddywaddy broke down in their van on the by pass on way to play at the Newcastle City Hall & we got their autographs. True, they broke down at the bus stop along on Abbotsford Road along from the footbridge. Nice guys they were to us. Those fantastic fun days are long gone. 😔 The air we breathed was fresher. People were far nicer to each other. Jeez! 😒 Look at the world now.....🤦

I lived in the Felling in the 60's/70's and went to Highfield school for my sins, then moved to Winlaton when I got married, so did it the other way round . Happy Days, Great video.

I lived in felling for years, I even went to fella park! I'm in Somerset now, loved this video.

‘Frost on the inside of the windows’ I was still living like that in 2010. In an unmodernised cottage in the Scottish Borders. Only the coal fire for heat & water. No radiators, no other fireplaces apart from the living room. It was one of the best times of my life living there though.

I lived in Winlaton nearly all my life.The Rose and Crown was my local.When "modernisation" took place(I think in the eighties) they knocked the three rooms(bar.lounge and buffet) into one. During these alterations the wall between the bar and lounge was removed (including the middle chimney seen in your photograph)This succeeded in destabling the building.The result of this was the cellar had Acrow builder props put to support the main floor.This meant that the cellar was no longer used (although the outside trap is still there).It is now on the ground floor. Great video.

I remember everything from the 70's being a kid then. Crowhall Towers at the start of this footage are empty & coming down next year apparently. Hoggarts pickled onion factory my mother worked there. She used to come in stinking of them! 😂
