You know what. You are wrong, it doesn’t make sense to me. Almost every flag has a dark side. Even yours abs mine, for example my flag is from the Netherlands, my flag has been a part of the WIC and the VOC, trading for slaves, my flag is still the same. Almost. The American flag has been in her time of expending west. Killed millions and millions of native Americans. Britain was the largest colonie and in that time had millions of slaves by expanding territory every where, British flag is stil the same. The Belgium flag has killed something between 15 million slaves during the congo. Belgium flag didn’t change and is still being seen as a national flag, I can go on and on about all these flags. At end of the day, flags and nations have always done something bad. Every one of them. So i think if we just live like this respecting also our flags that in that time also thought like the confederate states of America that black people where unworthy. Then the southern people of America can also respect their confederate flag, because if that flag shows hate and racism. Then you are also a racist. And me and the black activists protesting. Then we can call the human a racist. Black, yellow, white, etc. I hope you think good about that this whole situation about a flag is not important. As well also for statues

So that when people find to your city they can see how your people celebrate pedophilia? 4. If the history is so important to you, put these statue in a "Museum of racists". I'm very supportive and I take part of SCV, and UDC meetings and activities I also participate in civil war reenactments. My ancestors were slave owners but in all of the letters and artifacts I have they treated them as family. Confederate armies would mostly fight under their state flag, the Confederate flag is not racist. Most people think that the monuments were put up during the Jim Crow Era which they were but they were not put up to be racist the Confederate veterans were dying out and the south wanted them to be remembered and honored. Also when freed during the civil war alot of slaves chose and also volunteered to fight for the Confederacy. Remember if your family is from any of the 11 Confederate states or the 2 border states even if you are black or white your ancestors probably fought in the Confederacy.

I am probably going to get hate for this, but I think that some should stay up, specifically those that honor the dead. Yes they died to a corrupt cause but when you think about the times, they really didn't know better. Its what they grew up with and its all they knew. Its the argument of "can you blame a solder for following orders?" Doesn't mean that its right but rather people are applying 21st century values during a time were sadly most of those values didn't exist. Im not condoning the actions of racist people just stating what I see. People seem to forget that you can't apply the same mindset of current time to history. The values were different, the times were different, even morals were different and both parties are guilty of it in some way. Rather than destroy and forget, remember that painful history and be happy that its no longer the world people live in, that we are better than our ancestors. We can make a change by looking to the past and making sure we don't make the same mistakes in the future. Disagree or agree with me its your choice, Im just putting my opinion out there.

Fact is that every race, ethnicity, and nation has had slavery at one time or the other. Doesn't make it right, its just a fact. We all need to see history for what it was and not try to erase everything that offends us. Otherwise you learn nothing but how to manipulate and control others through pc and thought policing which is a form of slavery in itself. I don't go around insisting that others take down everything that offends me. I just give them their right to express themselves as they wish since they are accountable for what they believe.

@@horseman528 Calling political correctness a "form of slavery" in a conversation about _actual_ slavery is the _epitome_ of you "loving your victimhood". Two comments in a row spent trying to focus on anybody _except_ the Confederates is the height of "being offended". Pointing the finger at numerous other atrocities to avoid talking about the Confederacy, the subject of the video we're commenting under, which seceded to keep black people enslaved, and killed US soldiers en masse to do so, is the pinnacle of being anti-American.

We don’t need statues that were put up to honor shitty people and to protest civil rights to know about history, especially if the meaning of the statues were biased We have books and documentaries
