Benjamin Fisher all revolvers have a certain amount of hot gas and possible lead particles that come out of the cylinder/ barrel gap when you shoot. If you put your hand up there you will probably burn you wrist. Also in the olden days the revolving rifles had a potential to chain fire, blowing your hand off. Hey BC, hope your 2021 is going well so far. I have been having the itch to buy a .22 revolver lately. You know i like to do a lot of KZbin research before I invest in anything. If I ever have another GF I hope she understands if I check KZbin for any reviews on her from former boyfriends. No real worries there.....I am never leaving Alexa. Well you and other videos have me very interested in the Heritage Manufacturing ( NOT Arms ) Rough Rider. There is a Pawn Shop on the country road just outside of town I try to stop in on my way home from visits to the VA for a Dr visit in Charlotte. I say " Try To " because it is like a suicide stop if i am being tailgated at 60 mph and I have to drop my hook and snag the three wire to get into their driveway. Well last week I had an appt on Wednesday. Rear view was clear and I decided to stop. Not many handguns in the display case but guess what he had? He had THREE Heritage Mfg. Rough Riders. They all appeared to be brand new in box unfired. Two of them were with 6.5" barrels and wooden Cocobolo grips. They were ok but then my eye caught their fancy looking cousin. He had that Case Hardened Steel finish to his frame. ( Yeah, I know it's just paint over aluminum ) What I really liked was his laminated wood grips. They call it Laminated Camo. To me the grips look a lot like the laminated wood stock of the Tikka T3x Arctic Rifle the Canadians issue to their Rangers. Yeah.......I was holding a Rough Rider " Johnny Boy " in my hands. Well I picked him up.....made sure he was clear....then tried the action. Clik ( C ) Clik ( O ) Clik ( L ) Clik ( T ) His action was smooooth. Trigger pull was crisp and just right. Because of all my research I knew I had to check the fit of the cylinder in the frame. It was snug but not binding. No forward and back slop I have seen in some videos. Johnny Boy just felt right in my hands. I am secure enough in my male unwokeness that i do not feel a need to reword that . Even though the price was a bit higher than I wanted to pay for a used Rough Rider new in box I decided it had to be mine. Here in NC they have a silly rule that says you need a permit to buy a handgun from your local county Sheriff before you can buy one. In Texas buying a handgun was the same as buying a long gun. Fill out the form. Shop owner calls your info in to Feds and you get a Go....No Go.....or Wait. I think after this new election they will pass new rule saying you need a permit to think about applying for a permit to buy a handgun. Well next day I went and applied for my permit and was told will be three to ten days before they call me to come pick up my permit. Oh and owner will give me discount for cash. Hope you have a healthy and prosperous 2021. Bill

Hey BC, I just watched another YT video on the Rough Rider Rancher Carbine. He said the frame on that was made of steel not that alloy the pistol frames are made of. Do you know if that is true?
@deuceandguns4 жыл бұрын
I had to go to the bunker and check this one. That reviewer is incorrect. The frame around the cylinder and the extra section that forms the tang are both some sort of alloy. I'm not exactly sure what it is but it's not magnetic and has the dull thud of a zinc/aluminum alloy like Zamak. *edit* I decided to pull up the Heritage website and the Rancher instruction manual lists the frame material as Zamak5.
@Bill237994 жыл бұрын
@@deuceandguns Thanks BC. The fellow who had this Rough Rider Rancher carbine was doing accuracy tests with his. He was using a Lead sled to hold it steady but it seemed his shot groups were not very close considering the long barrel. He even had to raise the rear sight to the highest notch. Several of us commented it could be he was throwong off his test because he was resting the barrel on the sled support. hat could interfere with the barrel harmonics as I am sure you know. I got my application to buy a pistol in NC in to sheriff last thursday. Hope to hear back soon so I can go to the pawn shop and pick up my " Johnny Boy " Rough Rider revolver. I don't care about the fake case hardened steel frame finish but I sure do like the wood laminated grips. I read that Hickock45 grows those Laminated trees on his property in Tennessee.

Preferring quality to price, I would like to see a barrel, trigger guard and stock like that for the Ruger Wrangler. It would also be nice if the barrel were drilled and tapped for a scope mount like on the Henry Golden Boy. Since Ruger would only sell a barrel like that if it were factory installed, it would have to be an after market barrel, or a complete new gun would have to be purchased from them. I sure wish they would do that.
