'the hardest one to sell'.... why? 'because I get so attached to them'. 🤣♥
@coopzreptiles6 күн бұрын
😂😂 It's true, out of all the reptiles I have in the shop, I seem to get way to attached to the torotise... I think it's just were they have such great personalitys and are always fun to watch ! Especially the clumsy ones 😆 i have to remind myself it's a shop and I can't keep all of them, otherwise I'd never sell any 😂😂

Nice one mate, I love my spur-thighed tortoise. He’s 17 now and for the first 8 years was kept inside. He’s now got a 30 square foot pen outside in the garden during day time and a nice heated 4x3x2 enclosure at night. Really nice species. I’d say my tortoise goes crazy over pellets and dandelions! Cuttle fish is also a nice favourite up there😮

That's great to hear your spur-thighed tortoise is doing great and loving the large free roam space ! 😎🐢 Yeah I do find alot of people say their spur-thighed tortoise love the pellets ! Dandelion is always a good go to for a staple diet ! Shame we can't get alot of it this time of the year 😅 glad you enjoyed the video dude ! 👌✌️

How do I stop Respiratory infection my Hermann is nearly 2 years old there is also bubbles coming out of there nose and I think one of them has a blocked one is there a way to help them at home?
@coopzreptiles2 күн бұрын
Hello ! Thank you for your comment ! Now before I answer your question, I'd like to mention that realisticly you need to take your tortoise to the vet if it's blowing bubbles from its nose. This is definitely a respiratory infection and I have to advice you to seek veterinary advice. That being said there are a few things which you can do prior to this. So first of all, make sure that your tempatures are spot on. You can also Increase the ambient tempature of the enclosure too. The heat will help the tortoise immune system and hopfully help fight off the respiratory infection. Second of all, I recomend removing the tortoise to bath it in luke warm water, for 10 mins each day. Hopfully whilst bathing your tortoise will have a long drink which leads me to point number 3. Ensure that the tortoise is definitely 100% hydrated. Try and encourage the tortise to drink lots of water, this will definitely help its immune system. Its important your tortoise is hydrated if it has a respiratory infection. Next of all ensure that your enclosure hasn't got too high humidity. Usually a respiratory infection happens when the humidity of the enclosure is too high for a long extended period of time. This species doesn't require high humidity and if you provided humidity which is higher than 50% 24/7 it's highly likely the tortoise will experience a respiratory infection as a result. I'd also recomend trying to keep the torptise nose clean, try wiping away the bubbles to help the torotise breath. I hope all this information is valuable to you ! I will be making an entire video this year which is all about torotise respiratory infections! Like I say, personally I'd highly recomend getting the torotise to the vet ASAP ☺️ If there's anything else I could help with or if you need further advice or assistance, please feel free to reach out to me via Facebook or Instagram! Always happy to help 😊 Thank you for your support and thank you for commenting ✌️✌️

@@coopzreptilesmay I also ask why is one of my tortoise shells more soft and he is less active and looks like the tortoise has 1 nostril but still eats and the other one shell is hard and more active they also came from the same parent,they are nearly 2 years old
@coopzreptiles2 күн бұрын
@AnLuffy-b4z Thanks for reaching out! A soft shell in a Hermann’s tortoise can indicate a condition like metabolic bone disease (MBD), which is often caused by a lack of calcium, vitamin D3, or inadequate UVB lighting. Inactivity / lethargy can also be linked to this, as well as other health issues. So here’s what I recommend: 1. Check their diet: Ensure they’re eating a variety of calcium-rich greens (like dandelion greens, collard greens, or mustard greens) and avoid too much fruits. 2. Provide proper UVB lighting: Tortoises need UVB light to synthesize vitamin D3, which helps them absorb calcium into their gut. Use a high-quality UVB bulb at the correct %age and make sure it’s replaced as per the manufacturer’s guidelines which is usually every 8-12 months. If you havnt changed your UVB bulb for longer than 1 year this could potentially be what's caused this to happen. And if you don't already currently provide UVB light then this could again be the cause of this problem your facing. 3. Calcium supplementation: Consider dusting their food with a calcium powder a few times a week if you are not already doing so. In addition you can supplement their diet with multi vitimin to hopfully provide vitamins which the tortoise is currently lacking. 4. Hydration: Offer regular baths in lukewarm water to prevent dehydration allowing your trotise to drink. Again it's important for the torotise to stay hydrated especially if it's suffering from thease conditions. Since both a respiratory infection and a soft shell are concerning, I’d strongly recommend visiting a reptile vet for a full check-up. A vet can confirm the underlying cause and provide treatment through antibiotics before the condition worsens or leads to death. If I'm honest there's not really much else you can do "at home" other than what iv mentioned in this comment and the previous comment to help with a blocked nose. Only a vet will be able to help with this and help remive what is blocking the nostril. It could be a build up of mucus which is making it look like it only has 1 nostril, which would mean it is blocked. Or it could be something like dirt which has got into the nostril and the tortoise is struggling to push it out. Again only a vet is going to be able to help with this. Im sorry to hear this is what your currently experiencing with your torotise. I hope this information is helpful, and I hope you manage to overcome this issue ! Let me know if you have any more questions! ☺️
