Its my dream to retire in Hermanus one day, maybe even to move there before retirement. The mountains, the vineyards, the restaurants, the coffee shops, bars, the art galleries, the beaches, the coastal walkways, ... its an amazing place.

My first husband was restoring a Sunbeam Tiger when my sons were growing up. And when once while visiting a Sunbeam club we got to drive a member's Tiger. With its powerful Cobra engine we sped through the then still being constructed highway at 120 mph (193.1 km). Wow, what a powerful engine that Tiger had!

Holden was an Australian car manufacturer - a subsidiary of General Motors. I think the one you saw was a Holden Classic from the early 1960s.

Always a nice festival to go to. Glad you and Sonia enjoyed it. The two times I was there the weather was definitely better.. lol. I just love those cars. And just a question....I dont suppose you found the station with no railway line yet...🤓
@DustBugsTravelАй бұрын
The weather was horrible, but we still had a great time! 😁🐋 I hate to disappoint you (again!), but this visit was all about the Whale Festival, so for once a station was the furthest thing from our minds, as hard as that may be to believe! 🚉

My parents live in Hermanus and I lived there too for about 2 years (2021 - 2023), but I'm in Montagu now. I found that most of the whales are now laying closer to Gansbaai than Hermanus. I always saw more whale closer to Grotto Beach than Gearings Point.

One wonders how many tourists come to that part of the world for that bringing lots of money into that area's economy.
@DustBugsTravelАй бұрын
I read on the Whale Festival website that they receive anywhere between 75000 and 130000 visitors each year. It was wonderful to see so many folks come out, despite the stormy weather. 🐋😍
