To be honest, the biggest thing you need for your hair to grow is knowing and understanding your hair porosity. I kid you not, you'll see wonders with your hair when you solve the porosity of your hair. As for the heat comment, high porosity hair for sure avoid heat (as this type is more prone to heat damage due to its extreme acceptance to anything it receives), where's for low porosity, heat is your best friend. Not blazing hot blow driers or flat irons but warm steam/driers because that is the only way for that type of curls to get any form of moisture. Low type should always use hot/warm water to wash your hair because the heat will open up your cuticles and thus leading to the acceptance of moisture from your hair.

Fatuma Ali omg thank you. Think people go natural and focus on the hair typing system of arbitrary numbers and letters but knowledge porosity is the most major key. It lets you know what your hair needs and you just go from there.
@fai9277 жыл бұрын
Anthonia Orji exactly my point. The start of my journey all I focused on was my hair 'type' and I actually believe it's what has slowed my progress. It told me nothing about moisturizing as that is the key to growing our hair. After learning my porosity, my hair is BSL and growing.

Hi Hermela, I am Ethiopian too. I had exactly the same hair as you Volume..length and texture. People from high school remember me till this days by my hair. But I damaged it by colouring quite often. I went from black to brown.. burgundy..highlight..light brown back to black. It's now a chin length. Not only colouring . My diet was quiet bad and I am underweight too. I get sad when I see old pics of mine or when people ask me what had happen to my hair :( trying to recover it now. So please take care of your hair

You can have the healthiest/longest hair and still ruin it with no knowledge of how to care for it. Some or all of your tips may be a big help to others. Great video!

To be honest, if youre trying to go natural you dont necessarily need to avoid heat you just need to know how to use it. I've been natural all my life and when i was 13 i started straightenting my hair. I would straighten it 1-2 times a month only after washing, but even then my hair was super strong and thick and healthy because i took care of my hair well by using heat protectant and variohs hair oils and products that worked for me. I stopped straightening my hair a few years ago because I'm too lazy to do it anymore but my hair is strong and healthy still. You just have to find the right routine and products.

putting heat on your hair weakens your hair shaft boo. You are, at the end of the day, inhibiting hair growth

Yeah...my hair hates cold water. Like hates it. The cold water probably works better for someone with high porosity hair. The last thing I want to do is close my hair cuticles because it barely take in enough water as is.
