I just bought a 3000 and the margin ribbon is all out of whack. Without this film I have no hope of fixing it. Even with it I'm nervous as hell. Watching your process to create new tools to fit a problem is a great lesson in patience. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

@@dadtype2339I left it broken for now and am focusing on other machines. It doesn’t affect my use of the machine, and I’ll be honest I prefer the manual margin settings on other brands. The Hermes ribbon seems like overkill?

@@jonatherton I've heard unless the margins it self is locked the flying margin ribbon feature is cool, but you can absolutely still use the machine. Cool, thanks for the response.

This was great; I have wondered how to reattach the ribbons when they come undone. I literally laughed out loud at your reaction when the spring pulled back into the paper bail; you were much calmer about it than I would have been. Excellent video.

Bless you for this video. My newest Hermes just arrived and -- surprise -- it doesn't have a paper bail tube. (Price so low, I'm not complaining; its fantastic, otherwise). Whenever I can find one, this is the repair I'll be doing!

That was so cool watching you do that!! Mine is working fine but I’ve saved this video in case I ever need to fix it. As an OR Nurse I would use a micro vascular clamp to hold the spring. It would be perfect! Any hospital supply business would carry them.

Great job! You have incredible patience. I’ve had great luck fashioning tools from bicycle spokes using my Dremel. The local bike shop just gives me the broken ones they pull and even throw some unbroken, used ones my way for free.

I had no idea the visible margins on my H3K were such a crazy mechanism. Now I just hope they keep working properly, because theres no way I would even attempt what Duane pulled off here.

You did good, tiny clips and springs can be a challenge, been searching on the floor for C-clips many times.. ..

Great video! I have one of these machines and I thought that it would impossible to repair the margin ribbon. As to holding the spring, would it be possible to secure it with a longish twist tie? You did a great job repairing a weird bit of Swiss engineering. Thanks for posted this video.

Any idea how long the ribbon is and the length of the spring… i am sitting here after our call and my text wondering if I can fabricate a replacement because my wife’s box of ribbons is taunting me.

Look to be 3" or so compressed 17:42, but needs to be very stretchy, light weight Not sure the ribbon length, you can order this from the Hermes dealer in Switzerland ribbon and spring as a kit. Btw, I worked for a go cart track/amusement center in 1978, They were buying a few new arcade games, I was allowed to pick one New Pinball game from current releases, I choose the Playboy Pinball game, got to unbox and set it up myself, was awesome !
