Without being able to do an initial inspection or troubleshooting, I don't know. I would guess sticky parts Might pull carriage and see what's happening or not happening . . .

Can you please tell me why my ambassador hermes keeps jumping, i only just bought it and it drives me nuts, when i press the spacebar it jumps a few spaces too, would appreciate your advice please, love from Ireland 🙂

I would if I could, But they are not known for that, so I have never dealt with that issue on these, I would need to troubleshoot up close in-person to analyze But you should be looking for sticky parts, very common with vintage typewriters

? jammed tight ? These have no carriage lock, it should move when using the carriage release buttons What is the back story, was it working ? type bars work ? shipped ?

Both the Hermes and Olympia standards are awesome machines. Built to an ethos, not dollar-driven. Neither is 'better/best'. They have equal capability, different layouts, different feel, different cadence, different sound, but both work well Eight Hours per day, day in, day out, year after year after year.
