I"m about two thirds in the middle of the book, and am loving it. It is a wonderful complement to my memories of dreamy bicycle rides in the French countryside. Thankyou for your sensitive description of this novel.

This was my 'A' level French set book in 1971. I loved it when I first read it and enjoyed it many times since. There was a film made of the book called, I believe, 'The Lost Domain'. I've not been able to source a DVD or video of this lovely film, other than a DVD playable only in 'Region 1', which is no use for us in the UK.
