Fellow type one diabetic here, Jev my heart goes out to you. Being alone as a diabetic is a horrible feeling. Whenever I’m alone with a low I feel so scared. Have you considered Dogs For Diabetics? They could alert a neighbor if you let your neighbor know ahead of time that if they hear dog barking, call an ambulance. Dogs For Diabetics are located in Northern California by the way. Anywho, hope you all the best.

My guess is his metformin caused his B12 to plummet because B12 occurs naturally only in meat, eggs, shellfish, and dairy and metformin can commonly reduce vitamin B12 levels in patients. The risk of low vitamin B12 levels increases with higher metformin dose, longer treatment duration, and in patients with risk factors for vitamin B12 deficiency. Ppl that eat a lot of processed crap and/or try to follow objectively inferior diets like vegetarian/vegan get it way worse (of course). Iron deficiency can do the same thing iirc. Diabetes can contribute to anemia through reducing absorption of iron, gastrointestinal bleeding and through other diabetic complications that cause anemia. Anyone that is diabetic should be on keto (20-40 g carbs/sugars total per day tops). Eating a couple eggs fried with butter every morning cooked in a cast iron pan will usually sort you out as far as B12 and iron are concerned (eggs are great for you as they contain all essential amino acids which will help everything run smoother, if you aren't eating at least a carton of eggs every week you're not eating enough). Edit: Never put acids like vinegar or tomato sauce in cast iron or you will get hemochromatosis (too high of iron) and that is also real bad for you (but you will know cuz your food will taste like metal so just don't eat it thinking it will be fine and throw it out if you do). If anyone is unsure of proper care of cast iron you can google it. All that "seasoning" BS is for the birds afaic, much easier to just scrub it out with a steel ribbon pot scrubber and dish detergent/warm water, rinse it well, warm it up on the burner while wiping it dry with a paper towel (just so i know it gets totally dry fast and doesn't have time to rust) until it comes clean of any colour. Then i put a couple drops of oil in it and rub it down with a dry piece of the paper towel, shut off the burner and set it aside for tomorrow. If you just cook eggs in it every morning you don't even have to clean it so long as you wipe it out regularly and don't leave any food in it. After a year or so the steel ribbon scrubber makes the bottom smooth eventually, nothing sticks, and it's easier to clean. Your food browns and tastes better too (it holds heat so only set the temp at roughly half or less of what you normally use while you get used to it or you'll burn everything). Edit 2: Forgot to mention bad breathe/tonsil stones are an indicator of B12 deficiency as well and caffeine increase excretion of B vitamins, including B 12 so lay off caffeine if you're not eating the meat, eggs, shellfish, and dairy required to counteract it (but also definitely eat more of that sh*t too though, it's good for you)

Most of the same symptoms you were talking about, I recommend the carnivore diet to them and within 3 months they had both lost significant amounts of weight and were back at a healthy level. Glad you're finally in the medical system... I'm an older lady who lives alone, and I am disabled with several chronic health conditions. I don't think most people realise just how frightening it can be to start with new symptoms and not have anyone else close by to give a second opinion or support. I'm currently battling a sort of 'chronic fatigue' thing where I fall asleep almost immediately after eating anything. I'm getting tests done, so I've given up on my stubborn-ness with 'it's nothing'. I should add that you blame being stubborn for not going sooner to docs, but if you're anything like me, it's a balance between feeling bad enough to go get help, and feeling TOO bad to go get help. At least healthcare is free here (UK), so I don't have that extra worry about insurance and costs. Anyway.... glad you're back, and glad you're getting the care you need. Look after yourself, m'love. x

My mother (74) ignored symptoms too long and landed in hospital for over a month and is now in short term skilled nursing to try and transition to short term PT. Stay on top of your health, and have regular inspections of your back by a friend-she had no sensation on an invasive and huge bed sore on her back that led to sepsis and staph infection, and now she is facing dialysis because her kidneys were too stressed. She was active until she literally collapsed, it was very scary for about three weeks trying to figure out what to do: palliative/hospice or curative care. This is going to drain half her retirement nest egg.

Funny thing the body and I know I hate these doctor practices in America I hardly ever go cause I can't afford insurance, even after all the extra stuff they did to get everybody insurance I am still uninsured and I'm only in my 30's and I can't take great care of myself cause I need to save the food for the kids and to just keep food in the house so if my teenagers happen to do anything silly and CPS comes over for any reason they see there is plenty of food. Long story short I feel faint all the time and sometimes I feel like I might be some sort of hypochondriac or I'm dyeing one or the other. It's good your going to see a specialist I love to hear when people are able to go look into taking care of themselves.

I'm happy that you're back making videos, now let's hope that whatever you're doing for your health is working as best as possible... I also have juvenile diabetes, and before I discovered I had it, I slept all day. I went to the bathroom as often as I slept, I had lunch and went to sleep, I had dinner, I went to sleep and at midnight I got up to have dinner a second time, then went back to sleep. I was perpetually tired and had lost weight by 44,0925 punds, (20 kg), but it was a weight lost unhealthily, given that I ate an industrial amount of food... now I'm overweight again... but almost 154,324 pounds (70 kg ) (If the calculations are not correct, sorry, I used a converter, I'm not American). My father, who also had juvenile diabetes, before we had the insulin pump, had abnormal changes in blood sugar levels at the change of season. In fact he often went into hypoglycemia... Since I was 6 years old I have seen him in hypoglycemia more times than I want to admit, and a few times he even ended up in an ambulance. As a child, my mother told me to bring her sugar, or coca cola, the only problem was that fear made me drop the glass from my hands and end up shattering on the ground...

Stuborn to go see a doctor? I know it's expensive to see a doctor, or go to a hospital in the USA... but irl, there is no respawning when you die. Would you go see a doctor earlier, when a visit costs you only 3.25$? That is the case in my state: everybody, yep, everybody pays obliged a monthly or yearly fee for that kind of guarantee it's like 7,00 euros a month... 84,00 euro a year. Richer people (those who make enough... like 2.000$/month) pay an extra 54 euro/year for the less fortunate on top of that. People who are disabled, very sick or going through a rough period in their life. It makes sure, everybody gets the treatment they need, no questions asked, no payment needed. Social security covers most of those costs (not all!!). But sick during work? You go back to 75% of you normal wage, medicines, doctors, hospital visits are covered. Diabetic? Most of your expenses are covered, just by social security. And you can secure extra, just by working for example (companies often include extra health insurance). Hope you do well... take care of your health. There is only one iJevin around in this world. And if possible: try to change the system in the US, to often people suffer, because they can't pay their medical bills, due to bad luck, a hard time... Every productive member of society pays for such a system, every unproductive member of society is encouraged to be a productive member. Secret service for example, like to hire blind people (they hear stuff, we neglect), IT-companies like to hire autistic people (give them 100km of code, they see where it goes wrong: yep, debugging), and so on. Companies here are rewarded for hiring these people. Not all is lost, make a problem a benefit, and the problem is not a problem anymore. Even people with down syndrome, can get a job, specially created for their needs and abilities. ;-)

I'm so sorry to hear that you once again are plagued with health troubles, Jev, but very happy that you're on the mend and are going to get answers. Finding out why something went wrong is the best way to avoid future trouble. And that's true for everything in life. Happy to see you back again! I've thoroughly enjoyed your episodes this season. It seems like all of the hermits this season have switched gears and are having a lot more fun and that really shines through. 🙂 As a side note I just have to get my pun for Big Terracotta out of my system. Just up the SI prefix by one: Petacotta! 😛

sounds like sodium deficiency, my grandma had it, you need to STOP with any sweeteners (natural and artificial) and consume 1 tbsp of salt daily

I’m glad you went to get help and I hope you’re able to get into the specialist soon 💜 healthcare here in the US can be a pain and expensive, but I’m glad they were able to quickly identify what was going on once you were able to get that lab work done and hopefully they’re able to get your levels back to normal/more stable 💜 I know how scary a few of those symptoms can be first hand so i just really wanted to extra say I’m really glad you went to go get help and hopefully you’re doing better now, and will be doing even better once you can see the specialist 💜

Sounds like you had low sodium or super low blood pressure. Hope it works out and everything gets better. Glad youre feeling alil better. Take care of yourself dude. As a diabetic with heart issues can agree any kind of medical thing is scary and going to the ER is way too expensive 😅

Always worth wait. Glad to hear your feeling better. You were the Hermit that got me in to playing this game (HC S4??) - which led me to interact with some amazing people. So I have to root for you. How about A whole Lotta Terracotta - I believe that name was used in previous season.
