Just a little fun fact. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the world. That is because every single bean needs to be pollinated BY HAND! The vanilla plant is native to Mexico and it’s only natural pollinators were a bee that are now thought to be extinct. The pollination process includes a very small window and requires a fair bit of precision. This makes it very difficult to be accomplished by machine and at such a large scale. So it’s all humans. Thank you for listening to my TED talk. (This was my Senior design project to get my bachelors so I’m very interested in this)
@samuelphilips609111 ай бұрын
I always hate when people use the term vanilla to call something plain/basic. National Geographic calls it "a stunningly complex and subtle spice" hardly plain.
@tuckerbrunson411011 ай бұрын
@@samuelphilips6091 i think its very obvious that people say that because of vanilla flavored ice cream, not because of the complexity of the spice. most ice cream flavors are just random stuff thrown into vanilla ice cream. It makes perfect sense that vanilla would be used to describe something when its simple and palatable to nearly everyone, or the describe something in its natural or original state. It's hardly ever used in a negative way. I just ate a bowl of vanilla ice cream btw (literally right before i finished watching this video) and i really enjoyed it. If "simple" has a negative connotation, you assigned it that in your own head. In any case, it certainly is no reason to "hate" someone for saying.
@Cats-TM11 ай бұрын
And the reason the flavour of vanilla is so ubiquitous despite the cost is because its main flavour compound (vanillin) is extremely simple. Of course, pure vanillin compared to actually vanilla bean is completely different but that does not matter in most things.

I know episodic series are not doing as well as they once did, but I would so love a story-driven, roleplay episodic series, I would watch the heck out of that. I feel like it's a bit of an unexplored territory on Jordan's channels (he only did a few over the span of 13 years) and it has a lot of potential. The main problem is that the series often ended abruptly and weren't finished naturally, but it can be done, you need a reliable group of people who wouldn't abandon it.
@maggieskr529911 ай бұрын
In his latest video, he said he doesn't want to go into super kid-oriented roleplay content, I just wanted to clarify it's not what I meant. It doesn't have to be kid-oriented, like most of Mianite wasn't, or like a story-driven game doesn't have to be for kids. Imo, it would be much better if it was far from a kids show style. But taking his last decision into account, maybe this, even in a not kid-oriented form, is not something he would like to do for the time being, and I'll have to respect that.
