An idea for why the house is being attacked could be that they are a pearl diver and had found a really giant clam shell that had a huge pearl like object hidden in it. They took it home and the researcher realized it isn't a pearl but an egg from the monster

I think some water dripping off the tentacles would help sell the scale and movement. Maybe the one grabbing the bits of the house has some water flinging back, and little bits of debris still mid-air falling from it.

Something I’m thankful for is how kind my family is. My brother’s wedding was yesterday, and seeing how kind both my family and my new sister in law’s family were to the caterers was so heartwarming. I feel like caterers are usually ignored at weddings, but several of us went up to them personally to thank them and tell them how good the food was, and they seemed to really appreciate it! So I’m grateful for the kindness of my family, not just to each other, but to strangers as well.

I think it would be a good idea if you could give each house a personal diary. Like for the anthropologist, you can add their own research log. It's just an idea but I think it might help with the lore of this base. (I am a bit behind so she could already have this in her base)

A few years ago I saw a tour of the LOTR world in minecraft if I remember correctly, and there's a ruined city they described. The build started divided by colored wool for districts, and then buildings were made in full color with fully detailed interiors before the next phase. Then the building could be recolored in greyscale blocks and damaged in different ways- a missing roof, crumbling doorframe, etc. The final effect for the district they had finished at the time was reallllllly cool- you'd never know it wasn't always a ruin.

Gem! Maybe think of adding some debris in the air between the building and the tentacle, so it looks like it’s being ripped apart in the moment. Or maybe some debris on the ground surrounding the building or some flying above the roof. It could help give off the impression that the roof was just struck by the monster’s tentacle. Could help create some more motion and action in the build!

Absolutely love this ep. Maybe for more debris/dust/smoke you could put the campfire nearer the tentacle down on the ground level. I think it would add a time element to the crashing down. The lower fire closest to the tentacle is dust from debris that's completed its fall, and at the back, the fire is higher because it's still in the process of falling. As for a reason why that tentacle is attacking that building -- perhaps it was broadcasting something that disturbs the beast. That could be sound or radio, or even light.

This season's theme is so fun. I'm such a fan of incomprehensible horrors. If you want more movement with the tentacle, you could try falling (hovering) blocks off the side of the house or, perhaps, a water stream or two off the tentacle itself (like it's just emerged from the depths). These are art tips I use but I'm sure they'd translate just fine. 😊
