Hermitcraft 9: TCG with Etho! (Ep. 62)

Today on Hermitcraft we finalize a few minor changes at the TCG Pyramid, then reset Total Chaos so it is ready to play once more. Finally we return to the pyramid to practice some TCG with ‪@EthosLab‬ and ‪@docm77‬. I'm very excited for the upcoming TCG Tournament! Hopefully will be super fun!

I think the HP maps should be reversed so they go low-to-high. I noticed that almost everyone (even Beef) start moving their mouse to the right to find the higher numbers only to have to reverse because they are ordered from high-to-low. Just a thought

There is a non-zero chance Cub has footage of all the times he's loaded dripstone in Total Chaos, which means there is a non-zero chance his multi-hour season finale opens like he's gonna get a build tour from every hermit, and then it's just their audio over the dripstone footage. He warned us the ConVex could return at any time.

Had lotsa fun watching the match, it was pretty tense. Cub's strategy which did not rely on coin toss abilities much worked really well against Etho whose luck wasn't the best xD Lol when the second World Eater missed I immediately went "let's go cuuub!" Regardless, GGs, both of you played really well and had cool strategy. Been loving TCG so much, it's so cool how players can come up with different strategies, like Etho's coin toss reliant strategy and Cub's safer strategy.

For the TCG game, to balance it, instead of card rarity caps like what they currently do and set limits on certain cards. I think they should make a card rarity score and cap that. For example: Common = 0 Rare = 1 Ultra rare= 2 Then you only get like 25 rarity points per deck. So you can use a lot of ultra rares, but it costs you by having more Commons. You could use all rare item cards, but you'd have less ultra rares. I think it makes deck building more complex an rewarding.

I bet someone already mentioned this, but just in case: When you use the mending card, you're supposed to place the recovered card in your deck. You placed it in your hand, which means you had access to it directly instead of having to draw it again.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of restocking. Can’t wait to see the crossbows in the next TC session! Hopefully you’ll snag some hermits who have yet to play so you can put up new heads on the wall. That match with Etho was fun although Doc’s commentary on what he would do was a bit annoying. I love Doc but he didn’t know what your hand was so it was useless uninteresting information. And the rest of his commentary was just saying that he hates every card lol Usually Doc is hilarious to me so I’m probably having a bad day or something. :x Really looking forward for the tournament to kick off! I can’t imagine what else you’re going to add to the pyramid, it’s stuffed full to the brim with interiors and redstone already! I really like your Aqua Axolotl skin. Will you wear it for awhile? It’s a really nice colour combo for your skin. Already said it but it bears repeating - G freakin’ G!

I think the clock/time skip should be usable as a counter against other clock/time skip... So player A plays a clock card, attacks, and passes to player B. Player B, on their skipped turn, plays a clock card, reclaiming their skipped turn, attacking and forcing player A to skip their next turn instead. But if player A has another clock card, they can counter, too... Countering continues until someone can't counter, or chooses not to. That would mean playing clock would no longer be a sure thing. If you play clock you might expect to get two consecutive attacks in without a counterattack in between, but if your target counters it, they get an attack in and you may be the one who winds up skipping a turn. It would also mean that clock might be a card you keep in reserve to use defensively. Maybe you use the reclaimed turn to switch to a Joe Hills so you can counter again, if necessary, with Time Skip...

Is it possible to add the ability to "turn off" the Shulkers? Like by pushing glass panes in them? Could be handy for maintenance. If you're able to do this for the Witches and/or Skelletons too you could create a 'control panel' to determine the game mode of Total Chaos.

Doesn't Mending put the card in your deck, not your hand? Compare to the chest item, which returns the card to your hand. Also, I think you guys are still playing Time Skip wrong - it says cannot be used consecutively. That means that Heads OR Tails, you shouldn't use the attack at all on the next turn, (though it would be nice if the card made that clearer).

Completely ridiculous and not worth doing, but you could totally get total chaos to regrow its own dripstone. But I think dripstone needs to be seeded, like you place the first one, then it grows. But point is if you built his drying out dirt platform on the observers a few blocks higher, you could make them push down pistons with observers and more pistons, then build a flying machine that pushes them all back into default position. It would be a lot of work and only save the time of 3 clicks per block, but it would be a cool redstone build lol.

For headphones I recommend Beyer DT770. I generally really dislike headset microphones. Better off using a Shure MV7 or Rode Podcaster with a boom arm.

With the TFC, if you instant Heal, he would have survived 2 rounds, so it would take the full time skip to knock him out, if time skip failed then add the totem adding another round, so you could get 1-3 extra cards, tanked 2-3 more rounds, then Wels enters able to hit from the start.

Crazy idea. It would be cool if you could make some sections of the floor open up randomly to lava pools with pistons and then re-close after a while, or better yet random squares of the floor could drop out to reveal lava and over time less and less of the floor would remain. That would keep the chaos levels up for longer and incentivize the hermits to attack sooner.
