Hermitcraft 9: The Rarest Mobs in Minecraft (Ep. 77)

Hello there! Today we are playing Minecraft on the Hermitcraft 9 server. Today we continue to fill out our Museum and are attempting to get the most historic and rarest mobs in all of Minecraft! Today we try to get the Brown Panda, a Ghast that is over a full year old and free flying in the world, and the Blue Axolotl. Plus we continue to get new artifiacts for the museum and update to Minecraft 1.20!

Serves Mojang right for making both brown pandas and blue axolotls require you to bred 256 and *1200* of them to get what you want (although at least there's a chance of finding a brown panda naturally, unlike the blue axolotl). They know darn well that that many mobs in a space equates to a mega lag farm and absolutely nobody is going to keep so many mobs lying around. A 1 in 100 chance would've be much more reasonable if they didn't want to encourage players to slaughter hundreds of mobs to do their trophy hunting. And even that is a bit ridiculous on the lag front.

Hey Cub, Weren't you and Xisuma responsible for putting a Warden in the King's vault? Impulse moved it under the vault during the party. I think it's still there. Might make a cool addition to the museum.

Since it was a freefloating ghast for most of it's life I think a big cage for it to float in would be the perfect option, but you could add a viewing platform from the museum for it.

A couple of suggestions for the Cubsonian... The dare stick. Someone had it last about a year ago. For the mobs, maybe Bdubs would spare Lulu as given to him by Keralis. It's definitely the original Season 8 Lulu. The entirety of Keralis' base.

Hey Cub, I think put the Ghast in the museum. BUT, add a random button close to the viewing platform for players to press, and thus then opening the ghast cage in such a way so that the player can be killed by it, like the ghast was intended to be used for. I think it will make for an interesting and interactive exhibit.

If you set up your axolotl breeder in a tropical ocean (contained, of course) then you can fish while you wait for the cooldown

Also, X made an auto tropical fish farm in season 7, which arguably would've been faster to build and catch stuff than all that swimming (and nowadays you can probably make that farm in a lush cave), but I guess he's too far into the project now for that to be worth his effort...

For future reference, I do know you can block the Ghast's line of sight by putting a glass plane inside it. This keeps it from moving. Both Doc and Impulse have done this before. Not sure if you'll use this but it's good to know to keep it secure.

I think the idea of letting the Ghast fly freely in a big enclosure is brilliant! If you ever been to a bird conservatory they do that for certain birds so that they can get their exercise but don't y'know fly away.

Interactive display: the ghast in a transparent display cage but with a button that if pressed will open the front door resulting in the ghast firing towards the visitor (thought that would have the risk of someone accidentally knocking the fireball back and killing it).

I'd trap the ghast above the museum, like a big balloon, with a fence "rope" leading up to it. I'd also probably silence it and rename it back. Might also heal it, since you don't know if it's nearly dead or not.

Great Job Cub👍🏻 But you also need: Tropical Fish are common aquatic passive mobs found in oceans, mangrove swamps and lush caves. There are 2,700 naturally occurring variants of tropical fish of different colors and shapes with unique names. You need them too for your museum.

Build the Ghast an overworld-themed bedroom inside your museum, behind a glass wall. Since Ghasts were originally meant to be in the overworld, and since you just happen to have one, it seems only fitting. Let the Ghast live the cottage-core life it was always meant to have.

To display Ghast the hermit should need to press a button. The button should be labeled "Don't press random buttons" on a sign beside. A drop screen of concrete powder should revel the ghast (behind a glass wall). Then on a short delay have a record go off playing the sound of a ghast firing. Lulz ensue.

I love the idea of a ghast aviary where he can fly around. You should definitely put some random buttons on the outside of the aviary, too. Maybe hit people with fire charges if they press the buttons so they can get the true Doc prank experience.

It would be fun to have the ghast looking out through a window of the museum. Like, on the top floor of a side that you don't see that often. So every once in a while you fly by and catch a glimpse of a ghast in the overworld.

Awesome Episode! Wow the grind you go through is unmatched! For Axolotl breeding, I once saw Ilmango do it, and he make some farm, but the key was he only breed the yellow Axolotls so he could see the blue one better :) Imagine blowing that tnt and getting a blue Axolotl head! :P

Put the ghast in a blast resistant room with an iron door and a button that says don't push. If they go in they'll get shot at, and if the player doesn't make it, hopper minecarts could return their stuff to them

i think the best option for the gahst; although it would be a bunch of work; is to make a big basement for the lil ballon to float around in and have un unlabeled button that drops visitors into the enclosure. truly in the spirit of what doc was trying to do in the first place

I think you should create a Nether Scene for the Museum where you feature all the mobs - the Ghast can live there. Whether it's loose and flies around is your call on how large you want that portion to be. Maybe a it can be a rail system that takes you through the 'Nether' part and you have a recorded disk with nether info. will be cool!

when originally transporting the ghasts, doc used a minecart to move their hit boxes into glass, meaning they look normal but a) cannot move and b) cannot see, and therefore c) cannot shoot

To handle the Ghast, you could put in a chamber where if “press a random button”, it quickly opens up a door of some kind for a brief second, just enough for it to target you and make a noise but not actually fire off a projectile. Also, spam proof this button.

With ghasts, if you stick a glass block inside its head then you don't need a box around it (Impulse did it to make False a Ghasty Claus this season). Since its hitbox is so big, it looks like a ghast thats just chilling, which would make for a cool exhibit!

For the ghast: it might be funny if you put a random button somewhere and pushing it reveals a secret chamber where the ghast lives. (Of course, the ghast's head will be in glass so it can't see you... but it might be a good jumpscare)

I like the idea of it behind or next to the museum. But it might be more hassle than it's worth. Might as well just leave it where it's at and just build a nice enclosure around it and then take down the glass when you're finished.

Cub, I know it's a bit late, but you could try and get an invisible spider as well for the museum :) I always forget about them until they attack me at night or in a cave. You could also get a pacified pillager as well

Might be too high of a chance to kill the Ghast, but if you kept it in the minecart and used bubble columns and rails, you could recreate the contraption Doc originally used as part of an interactive exhibit. Also, the Ghast would fireball people.

About the axolotls: 1. Probability doesn't stack so it's always 1/1200 chance no matter how many you breed. 2. You need to breed different colored ones otherwise the offspring will automatically be the same color as the parents.

A very easy way to obtain a blue axolotl is just go to a lush cave and farm there because it spawns a lot of axolotls AND tropical fish, just requires patience

It would be really cool if you made a room where the player would press a button similar to what Grian pressed. The button would activate a flying machine revealing the ghast in the ceiling. The ghast would be behind a glass layer so not as to destroy everything. You could even have a custom music disc with explosions or groans reaction.

Maybe put the ghast in the top dome of the museum as a centerpiece. Or keep it where it is is and add an atrium in a garden expansion for the museum with other flying rate mobs?

There’s actually a 16% chance of a blue axolotl after one round, 30% after two, 42% after three, 51% after four. The formula is 1−(1−1÷1200)^tries. I think you used 1÷1200×tries, but you can see the problem with that if you plug in 1200 tries and get 100% probability, or 1800 tries and get 150% probability.

Idea what to do with the ghast … turn it into an interactive display. Add some random buttons around it, some do nothing, some open a hole that drops the person into a pit (blank pit, dark void pit, stalactite pit, etc), some give you food
