Hermitcraft 9: Artifact Explorations! (Ep. 78)

Today the Hermitcraft Season 9 server has updated to Minecraft 1.20! We first continue breeding axolotls in the hopes of getting the ultra rare Blue one, then we go hunting for new items from Minecraft 1.20. We search for armor trims, sniffer eggs, pottery sherds, camels and more to display as unique artifacts in our Museum!

Bit of a tangent but on one of Impulse’s streams there’s a clip where he catches you from a distance breeding the axolotls, and he just stares for a second then blurts out “i love hermitcraft!” And that’s what I’m here to say…I love hermitcraft, there’s just too much fun happening all the time.

One of the Vtubers I sometimes watch, Amane Kanata took hundreds of hours and thousands of Axolotls to finally manage to breed one Blue one. She went a bit insane during the process. The Best part though, is that Housho Marine, one of her Co-workers, who wasn't even really into getting Axolotls, managed to get one in about an hour - while she was at Kanata's house, and borrowing her computer!

Well getting a blue axolotl head is easy now. Just breed it with another axolotl which has a 50% chance of getting a blue axolotl. Once you get another breed both of the blue together to get infinite blue axolotls.

I was inspired by your dedication to getting the blue axolotl. I grabbed the two yellow boys I had and flew off to a reef and built a pool. After only 200 breedings, I got my little blue boy. I missed him in baby form, but cheered when his adult form was caught swimming!

In that bastion with fire resistance you gotta cannonball into the lava, go to town with your pickaxe, laugh at the piglins as they push each other into the lava trying to get to you, then profit :)

Yknow, everyone first thinks of Docs tree for charged creepers, but that is a lot of travel and potentially damaging to other hermits builds unless having the creeper be specifically from the machine is good for the museum. So, I don’t know if Cub has a charged creeper yet but it might just be way easier to put the creeper exactly where to want it displayed, or in position to be carted in, and strike it then and there with a thunderstorm

You gotta appreciate what an awesome proffessional and good minecraft player Cub is! Besides building/ redstone skills, his amazing persistence in grinding matters and his knowledge of the game he is also a skillfull fighter (and parcour champion), not only in pvp but in genereal! I mean, the EASE with which he conquers not only the Ocean Monument (without cheating) but also the Deep Dark like it's nothing with barely any preparation is just super impressive! Cub, you are a true minecraft hero in my eyes! Gotta love you! ♡♡♡

I find mining the bottom 2 levels of each ocean ruin is a good checklist for which ones I've archeologized already. It also exposes potential suspicious blocks that may be underneath the stone bricks

Desert wells always have 2 Sus Sand, and camels seem to congregate around the village bell. I am getting the worse RNG with Ancient Cities. Been to three and have zero trims. Apparently I'm a Hawkeye with Trail Ruins though.

I got a blue axolotl on the second breed, at the time I had no idea it was rare so I left it in the cave and never found it again. 🙃
