My take on the new Pirate card: I like it. Observing from the outside it feels like players often don't buy many ethereal cards because they'd rather save crowns for shards / other things. But the pirate card lets you acquire those (powerful) cards though without that dilemma. And frankly it just seems fun! Get to explore the pirate ship for a guaranteed good reward once every couple runs when the timing works out. I know others seem to value it less but I like it. And in any case - great vid as always Cub. Keep 'em coming =)

In honor of your first successful Level Four run: A hundred meters under frost, The very darkness catches fire. The frozen citadel had cost A hundred hermit lives already. Still, the bloody steps could stir no Fear in Cub, who swore the steady Heartbeat of the dark inferno Would not be his pyre. And deck in play, he took the rail That plunges through the frozen cave, Unfaltering against the gale Of banshee wind and icy splinter. Any hope of life lay buried Far below the crypt of winter. He had vowed to see it carried From its icy grave. And soon enough, his patient pace Had led him to the frozen trees That guard the waters that erase The corpses and the souls they carry. Here, our hero turned around to Scavenge just another berry. All the while, he scanned the ground to Check for any keys. And soon enough, he reached the crypt Whose deepslate coffins shine with frost. And silently, our hero slipped Between the ice-encased sepulchres. Though the slaughtered filled the hall, the Bones bore nothing for the vultures; Ravagers had eaten all the Bodies of the lost. No key in sight, he took the stairs To search the meeting room of death Whose shriekers hunt the fool who dares Disturb the conference of the spirits. Still, he chose against appeasing Tango's watcher; he could hear its Cryogenic heartbeat squeezing Water from his breath. And scattered in the ash of snow, A key lay frozen on the floor. And Cub retrieved it, turned to go In perfect silence up the stairway. Little icicles were growing From the moisture of his airway. Still, he carried onwards, throwing Wide the copper door. And down he went, to level two, The Caves of Carnage, Willie's Lake. A beast stood ready to pursue The hermits Tango ordered eaten. From behind a rocky berm it Charged, but Cub would not be beaten. Soon the connoisseur of hermit Trailed in Cubfan's wake. He ran the narrow bridge of wood And checked for keys in Rusty's trove And paused to ponder if he should Dare venture to the mushroom delta. Here, the ravager was cunning; Hidden well, but Cubfan felt a Tremor as the beast came running Through the fungal grove. He jumped the dripleaf to the lake Where Willie, with his single eye, Lies patiently in wait to take Another trophy for the fishes. Cubfan dodged a ghostly trident; Willie would not get his wishes. Full of rage, the dungeon's strident Shrieker gave a cry. But Cub already had a key, And soon swam out of Willie's sight, And took the grim descent to see The wardens, sentinels of silence. In the mines, the slightest error Only would be met with violence. Lanterns held their breath in terror, Silencing the light. But undeterred, he crossed the chains, Where Zedaph's severed head can tell A tale in many grisly stains, For wardens do not eat their quarry. Cub went on, the mine behind him Spinning yet another story Where the wardens come to find him By his sound and smell. But wading through the inky air, Where fear itself would dare not creep, He found, atop the rotted stair, A key that would admit him deeper. When he placed it in the barrel, Tango's artificial creeper Split the floor, and, scorning peril, Cubfan took the leap. To cataclysm! Burning dark! A cavern hewn from living void, Where twisting tendrils seek the stark And coldly distant cavern ceiling. Here, where light and sound are strangers, Cub would set about revealing Both the prize and all the dangers He had to avoid. His compass led him through the fire, But when he threw it on the ground, The dungeon let the flames conspire To steal the artifact forever. Tango swore to make it right if Cub escaped; it would take clever Planning or a nimble flight if Wardens were around. And so he turned to flee the cave, And staggered through the darkened maze, Aware that every error gave The wardens something more to follow. Every stumble, every shrieker Told him that his hope was hollow; Every heartbeat sounded bleaker, Every pulse ablaze. So Cubfan ran, and climbed the vines That led him from the heart of fear. Emerging in the silent mines, He snuck again to hide from hearing. He could hear the heartbeat quicken; Soon the vex would be appearing And the dark began to thicken; Wardens must be near. But somehow, both the stairs were clear, And Cub escaped into the cave. The ravagers were drawing near, But even as the beasts pursued, he Used his pumpkin at the shack to Get a chance to get the food he Needed to get safely back to Flee the frosted grave. And as he fled the frozen crypt, The dungeon tried to block his way, But Cub was well-enough equipped To dodge the vex, the teeth, the water. Down the stairs, around the river, Every heartbeat straining tauter, Berry thorn and dripstone sliver Bidding him to stay. But he escaped, and Tango kept His promise, waiting at the door. Our hero could at last accept The artifact that he had won with. His CF-135, the Perfect one to end the run with. Thus did Cubfan first survive the Trip to level four!

I found the run 12 post-run commentary so interesting!It gives a lot of insight that we wouldn't get with the regular "on the fly", trying to stay alive-talk. Congrats on the phase win, Cub!

I just had a very silly idea for someone with a lackey run coupon - enter the dungeon, greet tango, throw him the map and the compass and simply tell him, "go get it." then just sit in place and watch him using freecam, commenting now and then, to give him the exact experience he gives his players.

Run 12 was so relaxing to watch. Tango did such a fabulous job with the game sounds to make it so suspenseful and scary. The viby music and calm commentary was warm and cozy

@@kushj9568 Too much compaired to what? Running lvl 3 to secure a win? I dunno, the highest entertaniment value would be to see these champs head on in lvl 4. I also dont think it´s too much luck, since it´s not everyone who can manage to go the furthest down and come back up. There's a lot of skill involved. Im sure "Skill Issues" would diagree x)

@@MSsix6 Hey I'd love seeing them run lv 4 too. I just mean that rn it's too hard for them to get in and get out consistently. There's a lot in decked out that relies on luck: artifact value, artifact location, the cards that show up, etc. It would be a lower win rate if they were only running level 4 and so luck is gonna be playing a much bigger role on how well they do in the phase. And yeah sure skill does matter, but honestly cub and etho are pretty equally matched when it comes to decked out.

That hazard at 1:01:50 should *not* have been able to turn on! You had hazard block. Potential bug with hazard block system? It turned on as your hazard block went down. I heard the hazard block gong too. Seems like unintended behaviour?

run 8, with the sketchy key tension is a good illustration of a great run where you made it to the front of level 4, and barely got past the peskier evoker spots before max clank, with only a few cards left, a couple of which were probably stumbles. when tango brings up deck trimming pointing out that you guys are making it out with 10+ cards left are generally very smooth, no key tension level 3 runs. in a perfect world where decked out never ends and multiple decks can be made i can see it, but i think that 40 card padding is absolutely still necessary with the rng of runs and not even going DEEP deep frost yet. thanks for still posting decked out, have been missing it since season 7... and kinda also miss the little noteblock ditties even though the new audio is great. /ramble

That first run down to the burning dark was almost too easy. Or to be more specific, you make it look easy. I must say Tango has done an excellent job balancing the difficulty of this game. It takes 100 hours of experience doing runs, and some serious skill to be able to pull something off like that.

i dont like how TCG died when decked out gained popularity, and i feel like a good solution would be to put a TCG arena in the waiting room so people can play TCG while waiting for the dungeon to be ready

I feel like tcg died for multiple reasons. 1) starting s2 of tcg w new cards that people don’t know 2) lot of hermits stopped posting full tcg videos because comments were flooded w people saying enough tcg content 3) lack of full videos on tcg makes it hard for viewers to learn the new cards 4) beef took a break which stopped momentum I feel like decked out was only a partial contributor to tcg dying. I think the amount of comments asking for less tcg content at the time was a way bigger reason for the stop on tcg

I’ve always wondered if there was a secret hallway to get from level 4 to level 1. I think the bomb has something to do with it. You should check the back left corner (stargate) near the drip stone on lvl 4. Just a theory

Tango, the timing of the playing is off. The frost focus cards play as it is called, so it bugs out on the display. It works but looks odd.

Yes the artifact values do scale with difficulty but there is still a wide spread per dispenser and per floor.

That drops down into level 2 next to Willy, in the grated-in area. The barrel can have keys and other treasure but it's a major risk vs reward situation since the depth charge area is so maze-like and dangerous

addition of level 3 pressure plates caused the gameplay to move excruciatingly slow and now the Wardens cluster together and most players seem to find it not worth the pain to go to level 4 - let alone other Hermits not even playing anymore all together // that said, I love DO and watch all the vods - Tango is a genius and his creation is a masterpiece!

I think it makes sense because his first runs were from deadly level. Not deepfrost. Because there needs to be a difference between deepfrost artifacts and deadly artifacts, even tho its disappointing, I think it makes sense
