xB, at 7:30 you got incredibly lucky with the pants, shield, and sword. 4 chaining is incredible, and you could reroll implicits only if you need more damage. I would not have added a random modifier to the pants, you could instead put them in a modifier workbench and choose which mod to put on it. The mana regen and health were great rolls. Lucky hit on the shield opens up a new build path in the skill tree. Since you needed more defense I would have rerolled the implicits on the shield to switch from thorns to armor.

As a point of note, some prefixes and suffixes on gear are mutually exclusive. You cannot have damage and chaining on one weapon. Same as you cannot have more than one cloud effect (fear/healing etc) If you roll an item that has good stats, and still has 1 empty affix, use the modifier workbench to add a specific modifier, this will indicate what is mutually exclusive Additionally, you're not wanting to swap gear because yours is good, but you were taking a lot of damage is understandable, but when you get a new armour tier you will probably always have to take a downgrade in order to survive the new increased difficulty of the vault

Enjoying the series immensely. Loving your honesty and enthusiasm. Just a little observation: I've seen a lot of the hermits look at a piece of gear and discount it based solely on rarity "oh that's just a common, ive got an omega". Please look at the numbers and not just the rarity. Yes it might mean less prefixes and suffixes, but having extra item rarity doesn't mean much if your armour is not great.

Ornate is Gear Gilded is Jewels Living is Knowledge/Exp(burger mats) Wooden is mainly Carbon. While each chest has something to share with at least 1 other chest type, these are the main things that only (except for wooden cuz carbon is also in ornate) drop from each type of chest. As for Elixir Vaults you MUST be speedy and sample everything first before worrying about "other loot". Honestly the same goes for Scavanger Vaults, it's all about what you need and nothing else unless time is leftover before final turn ins are turned in. Guardian and Monolith Vaults imo are the only ones you can really just turn your brain off and farm all the stuff and still have a chance to finish without having to hyper focus.

Crafting potential is how much it cost to re-roll the gear, unless this recently changed that I'm not aware of. The tier/percentage of modifier you roll is pure RNG

Each type of mob has a different glorp amount. In the first two elixir vaults you had Tank mobs as jackpots, but the other mobs weren't giving a lot. The game really makes you keep your eyes peeled for the size of those glorps. Running past the POIs even if they are wooden will give you a better chance of finding particular mobs :P

For confused people(and there WILL be some), "glorp" is the purple orbs that come out of things in Elixir vaults.

This is important for anyone that's new to elixir vaults!! Don't watch the bar, watch how many purple orbs show up when you mine ores, break chests/coins, and kill mobs. Each mob type (horde, assassin, tank) can have different values - and the amount of "glorp" you need changes per vault.

Ornate chests are best for gear. Also, I suggest running a plunderer's vault if you are feeling under-leveled. These vaults will not add experience and you will get slightly more loot.

The most important thing is that you are at a new armor level as well so all those armor pieces at 8 minutes all have 2 more armor than your current gear which with a full set will drastically increase your defense.

When rolling stats with the artisan station, you can see all of the items stats while hovering over the "roll button", instead of going to the actual item. Small tip, but huge QoL when you're rolling a lot. Also, if you ever wonder "what can I get with 'this' stat" ... throw it in the workbench to see what's compatible. If you can't put things together - like +damage and chaining, it will tell you.

you may wanna look at the loot tables for different types of chests. You get gear from ornate, jewels from gilded, knowledge and burger parts from living, and a bunch of basic necessities (+modboxes) from wooden

You can look at what chests give loot in JEI. There are multiple, I think two of each chest, in JEI, one shows the recipe for how to make them when you have the scrolls and the other will show you what is in each.

Woo, getting powered up now! If you're interested, there's a couple defensive abilities you could look into which definitely help with the whole not-dying thing :) - I personally like Frost Nova as a panic button - mostly because it's actually good with only a single point invested. Decent cooldown, decent range at level 1 even, and with a good weapon it can hold most tank/champion enemies long enough for you to crit em down safely. - Entropic Bind (specialization of Empower) is another great one, though you need both a lot of points invested into it for the radius to actually be useful, and also enough mana regen on your armor to handle the passive drain. - Charm/Fear (specializations of Taunt) are also solid options! You'll have seen Charm if you've watched any joehills lately, it can be incredibly helpful in specific situations. (And sure, Blizzard Arrow is decent too, but its cooldown is too low to be reliable, and it would of course mean losing the Lightning Arrow.)

XB! Thanks for the video! I know you don't have a lot of time to play so always excited when you are able to post a video! :) Glad you were able to get some upgraded gear! Just a small note, at a certain point, resistance becomes much stronger than armor, so sometimes after the implicit armor roll, getting resistance in your prefix is better than extra armor, but I can't remember when the change sort of takes place. A way to check, is when you open your menu (H key I think is default) you can see your percentages of Defense, Damage, and AD and AP of course. Sometimes that might be a way to help you decide what gear to choose :D Also, just an FYI Crit Hit Resistance is what really helps you against Skelebobs, and spiders (things that have a tendency to crit). I wasn't sure if you knew that or not, so just wanted to let ya know. :D Oh yeah, when it comes to elixer, each type of mob drops it's own unique amount of elixar. So some mobs might drop more than others. It's hard to see, especially in some fault themes. I wasn't sure if you knew that or not either so just wanted to explain. :D Looking forward to the next video !

Best bet for getting what you want on gear is to roll like you have been, but then use the modifier workbench to add one modifier to it (I can't recall off the top of my head if chaining and attack damage can be on the same item, but if you have chaining and look in the MWB then it will show you what you can craft onto it) you can only craft one modifier per item, so it's best to have what you like rolled first, then craft afterwards, but it should help you get the modifiers as you'd like them, and you can reroll the crafted modifier to get it to the level you'd prefer it (usually they have a range and you'll roll between those each reroll you click in it, somewhat costly, but still overall cheaper than repeated rerolls in the artisan station) ornate chests are best for gear and weapons, living for burger parts and gear, gilded for jewels, and wooden for carbon :) loving your vaults tho! You're so very chill to watch! (Also, altho scrappy gear is mostly trash, check the armour level before recycling, as armour and resistance are your best bet for defence, also crit hit resistance is an implicit which is super helpful against spiders if you find they're beating you up too much! :D if you go to your "H" screen (where you go to see vault history and all the stats) you can insta compare damage and defence stats and swap out new gear to see which give you better results, axes are good if they have chaining, but will give lower damage overall unless they have a super high attack speed, swords with sweeping hit chance are generally better for groups of mobs)

The long-term meta is to take vault scrap and craft your own unrolled gear at the forge. The problem is the first hundred pieces or so will be just as bad as what you get from the vault, except not for free. As your skill goes up it'll pay off eventually, but it is a long-term approach that feels like a waste at first.

No, reforming Foci are single use and reroll the entire piece of gear but will have a focus on their specific perk. So if you were to say use Chaining and then Attk Dmg you would lose the Chaining roll and get a new Attk Dmg focused roll.

Completing a vault is an amazing feeling when you usually don’t. I speak from experience. Currently level 66. I have more survived than completed by a long shot. It’s still fun though!

What you really need to do is avoid completing vaults. you need to miss out on the massive XP of completing vaults until your gear matches your level

Better use a plunderer's pearl for that. They're pretty cheap, and can be applied to vault crystals in an anvil. You get no vault XP at all, even if you complete, and you get bonus loot & ores.

So another info about chest... Wooden is basic material (lil bit of everything, v.dm, carbon, k.essence, etc), Ornate is gear realated stuff (gear, plating, focus, etc), Gilded is treasury thing (v.dm, jewels, relic booster, etc), n Living is about knowledge, level n crystal related stuff (essence, burger part, catalyst material, etc). So if the target is to get an upgrade, ornate is the way to go... Also even scrappy gear with higher level is sometimes better than low level omega gear, cz higher level gear have higher max cap stats, especially with legendary modifier, also higher rarity gear w/o soulbound is more expensive to retrive if you die in vault with it... More slot on prefix/suffix stats not always help u tank more damage, if mob hit hard, its mean u need more base armor/ resistance/ health n crit resistance... You comparing 8 armor with 15 armor gear, n 10 armor with 16+ armor that is big upgrade xB... thankfully u finally got huge armor upgrade... To get a good roll on gear stats, it cost alot of bronze... a ton of bronze.... I spend at least 50+ v.gold on full set of gear, but it will help me complete more vault for quite a while... Worth investment... Crafting potential is the value of gear to reroll, low crafting potential is more expensive to reroll... N each reroll reduce the crafting potential... i hope its helpful...

I think that the crafting system needs to be a little better explained. Maybe having a symbol besides the name of the suffix/prefix that indicates what kind it is and an explanation that you can't have two with the same symbol. Like, chaining and attack damage could both have a sword, clouds could have a cloud, things like that.

I understand a LOT of what you talk about in this video(and even agree with a lot of it as well), however watching through the first vault you just do a lot of... complaining about how hard it is. You are LITERALLY playing with the person who created this mod and modpack, TALK TO HIM to learn more about things. There's a LOT you need to learn. The 20 minutes of complaining made me pause, come comment and then exit the video. It is unlikely that I will watch anymore of your VH content as a result of this. If you're not having fun(and this video you DEFINITELY were not) then we're not going to have fun watching. The fact that you ACTIVELY were complaining about not having fun(and it WAS complaining and it WAS about not having fun) made it even worse. Perhaps you shouldn't be playing Vault Hunters, it's definitely not for everyone, I've stopped multiple times because it starts to get frustrating. Your videos are NOT fun when you're complaining and you aren't having fun either! This is NOT the first time I have experienced this on your channel, and may not be the first time I have made similar comments. There were some times when your Ark videos were particularly frustrating to watch because you just complained about everything you were doing! So much that at one point not only did I stop watching the current video, but after listening to video after video of it I unsubscribed. When you're having fun you're a GREAT creator but boy when you're not having fun you REALLY show it and it brings the videos WAY DOWN. I hope you stop subjecting yourself to things that you don't find fun and thereby increase the quality of your videos. Again, you ARE a great creator and great to watch when you aren't frustrated!

Nothing in this video was me not having fun. The reason it was hard, as i stated in the video, was due to my gear lacking. Which by the end, for anyone that bothered, was resolved. I dont play things i dont enjoy. Never have, never will. If i wasnt enjoying it, it wouldnt be on the channel. I have always learned as i went. You actually learn less when you are given the answers. Sorry you arent enjoying it. There are tons of others to watch.
