Today i'm playing on the 1.13 Hermitcraft Season 6 World.
In this episode we work on the very time consuming, grindy task of making a HUGE moat around our Minecraft Star Fort - with added danger.. Magma Blocks, Drowned, Pufferfish.. are all an option!

1 room you need is a Lab of some kind for Doc. That dude has already made a creeper cannon. Before the game even started, he called up his more technical minecraft friends and made a creeper cannon. That guy is nuts. But he's also on your team and as such I think he deserves to have a big open space with lots of redstone kit and random mobs in small chambers to experiment with. lets go full mad scientist on that, he is your best weapons architect after all

They can use chorus fruits. to prevent this, make hollow rooms with magma blocks on the bottom so if the teleport they are likely to teleport into the room with magma blocks as its bottom

Room ideas = planning/meeting room, loot room to keep/display the spoils of the war, armoury with fresh armour/weapons for your team, horse room with underground tunnel and secret opening on the plain for a Calvary charge, medic/hospital room with healing potions, communications room, Holding cells to keep prisoners, Torture chamber,

Use Guardians, it will be a huge pain getting them, but it will be worth it if you do. Make sure the pufferfish and guardians dont get hurt by the magma blocks by separating the sections

Xisuma has a guardian farm, so it shouldn't be that bad. The only pain in the ass would be the transportation.

Have the moat full of drowned and pufferfish. Then have drowned with tridents in guard post to make it difficult to get in but connect the ravine with the moat in an underwater maze as an enterance.

Adding a few layers of string over the moat will make a hard to detect net to catch enderpearls and drop people into the moat

Lots of resources, but I'd make the inner wall two high obsidian above the water level with flowing lava behind the wall at the first row behind water level (so that digging through that creates cobble or burns the digger) and completely cover the moat floor with magma blocks. That forces them to come in through the air. Also, packed ice under soul sand makes it MISERABLY slow, so maybe that's what the outer shore of the moat should be.

You can create a big room below the base, then fill that big room with cactus, so when they will mine down, to fall on cactus, in the middle you can create a elevator, that is going to a rail sistem that lead to a secret base hidden in the mountains, if you do that, you will be hidden from their attacks. Is like a retreat spot if the team fail to fight with the G team. Try to create like a sistem of tunels that leads to many spots on the map, so it will be like a puzzle to find your secret base. (Sorry for the bad English)

Have a checkered pattern of magma blocks and soul sand. This makes them go slow or take damage.

As having the higher ground comes with benefits, I would consider building 2 or 3 watch towers that give you a decent view of the ground for sniping people out. Maybe raid a woodland mansion to get illagers. I don't know if there's a way to find and bring an elder guardian but mining fatigue against the enemy would be awesome as long as you don't end up catching it yourself.

You could add magma blocks to the grass outside the walls and cover them with green carpet. That'd blend in with any discreet lighting you're using, and it'd make anyone attacking need to watch where they're stepping. You could probably do the same thing with soul sand, come to think of it. And if a lot of the grass blocks have long grass on them, they wouldn't even realize the first time they approach!

Random murder (trapped) rooms, maybe? Rooms that the other team would try to break/go into since they aren't supposed to know the layout of the base. Also, I see a lot of people suggesting putting obsidian to reinforce the walls to make it harder to breach -- seems like a fine idea -- but it may be a lot of extra work; and might make the base a lot more cramped inside. But, hey.

You could make a trap in front of the gate(also in front of the moat). You could trap a lot of mobs underground and when you press a button they all pop up! If you would put some wither skeletons in the trap it would be quite deadly

For the interior I think your going to need an armory/weapons room; a room with an anvil for repajrs, armor stands, and maybe some item frames or chests with weapons in them. You also need a barracks so that you can respawn nearby when the war inevitably breaks out. Maybe an aviary on the roof so you can "call for reinforcements" or turrets, little towers so you can shoot out but it's harder for them to shoot you

Interior Suggestion: Lava along the interior walls (place source block high up) to protect against breaches. Add an Inner lining of sand followed by wood to force miners to use shovels and axes to cut through easily). The arms of the star are ideal for this. Dispensers that can dispense lava / fire charges can be used in long corridors or between the arms. when going into the fort it will be a dead end between two star arms (with the lava interior of the arms). Leaving no escape except to fly. Add a layer of webs a few blocks above and between that arm to intercept ender pearls. activate by lever or string.

I'm surprised it hasn't come up already, but if you're naming puffer fish, we absolutely need there to be a Puff Daddy one. Sure it might be a bit on the nose, but hey, at this point it's almost a necessity. Although if you don't wanna be that on the nose you can always just change it a little to like Puffer Daddy or something.

About the stairs on diagonal lines, there is a nice pattern that ensures that no dirt will be visible. Use a upside down stair, then add another one next to it (not being attached to any ground), then add a third one on the side of the second one (attached to ground) then again 90 degrees (not attached), and so on.

Magma blocks all the way along the fort side of the moat would prevent people from climbing up that side. The idea of recessing the magma blocks is good. I also like the idea of hiding lots of puffer fish around the fort like Turtleman did earlier in the season.

If you need ideas on how to design the inside of the fort, look at old Spanish forts like Castillo de San Marcos in Florida, the shape is already very reminiscent of it. Maybe add a gate house on either side of the moat and open up a courtyard in the middle of the fort. Some named Sentry skeletons around the edge of the fort would be neat too.

False, you guys have one weakness - elytra atack. Put a whole bunch of cobwebs all over the sky so they cant just fly in. That makes the moat even more efective at keeping them out, since they cant fly in. It also stops enderpearls.

That moat terraforming looked super cool! I like the stone stairs on the edge of the moat as well because I think it will discourage anyone from breaking it to get up like how Xisuma just broke the grass to get in, but the dirt bothers me as well. Maybe making it a wider rim would help? If you do add pufferfish (which I really hope happens) they should probably be contained somehow, or else they'll get caught in the current from the magma blocks. I'd love to see some cool secret entrances into the base!

Steel Grian's white room idea, only make it trapped so that if they remove the white maps to find the exit, it'll pore lava on them. You don't need many rooms for function, so make as many of them traps as you can. It's even more delicious if you use Grian's own trap ideas against him.

You need a meeting/planning room, a very hidden treasure room where you hide stolen goods, etc. You also need a "treasure room" that is less hidden, but still relatively hidden to avoid suspicion. That "treasure room" should actually be a trap that kills them and takes all their items. You will refer to this "treasure room" sometimes and hint the location of it. How's that sound?

when you punch a hole for an extra deep magma block the hole is NOT a source block, so NO Bubble column!. keep a bucket to source those as you go. If you add puffers, keep then from roaming or they will die in the columns. Lava pools on the roof will deter casual ender pearling onto the roof. Use double thick floors or obsidian to prevent them bottoming your own lava on you. A layer of water just below is ideal. remember the fort is a barrier meant to channel opponents into your deadliest traps. Good Luck!

Cobwebs turn ender pearls back into items I think. Just have cobwebs over hoppers to collect any thrown ender pearls. I don't know if ender pearls stop when they hit string, but you could try that and make them fall to their death.

Magma blocks around the moat and/or base would mean that the other team would either have to slowly crouch-walk or constantly take damage. Makes them a much easier target with a bow and arrow.

If you're building something on top of the fort, make a little trench, so that if they enderpearl, they fall into lava or cacti

Give the moat an overhanging freeboard! It'll be a lot more dangerous and difficult to get out of, especially if the magma is in that bit, too. (Also, it's sourcing from genuine real-life water hazards, which people need to learn about ;)

You should follow a schematic of a star fort in real life and see how they organize their compartments. Maybe have a drawbridge that opens when you place a head of one of the team... like a key card. Lol and to add a real sense of danger, make the moat made of lava.

Maybe put soul sand outside and diorite for Iskall protection , you could also put creepers underground infront of star fort. Some skeleton snipers would help and if you find cave spider spawners in that mineshaft in that ravine you could use them for traps.

You could make an armoury room. I dont think ice would work. It would probably just melt and make a mess. You could also use that cave as a trap. Just make sure its not under your base. And if theres no conduit and you use a bunch of magma blocks to drag them down and if its pretty far they will probably drown.

To combat enderpearling on top of the star fort, what if the walkways around the rim of the base were split in half. Half is the actual safe walkway for archers to shoot from, but the inner half of the walkway would be lowered down with traps or lava. Idea being to make it hard to enderpearl safely up.

I have a nice idea for a lock system that doc can make for your more important areas, one of those item Hopper locks (the ones where you have to throw the correct item in a Hopper) but instead of just one item and Hopper make it 3 or more and the items have to be put in the correct order and if the items are wrong a trap can activate

you should line the whole row or two of blocks around the inside edge Solid magma blocks so that anyone at the edge trying to place a ladder gets dragged down no matter where they try! it's a lot of magma blocks and might take some decorating but i think it's worth it..

If I were to attack your base, I’d build a flying machine, put a cauldron on it, sit in it, and then go to the base. It would go through your walls too. Assuming no elytra or e pearls

You should put obsidian in the walls of the Star Ford so people can't get in as easily as just breaking through the Stone wall. And you should get southern puffer fish in little gaps around the moat to make it harder for them to get in. If you put skeletons on the outside they will shoot other players for you.

you can line walls that stick up over your main walls with a tiny lava moat thats hard to accedently fall in or get out of, enderpearls hitting these walls will drop invaders into suprise tiny lava. In case of tnt'd walls, hacing a second layer thats gravel and can fill in low holes and be refilled from the top of the wall can help.

I would use a sapping tunnel to get into your base - dig 10 blocks down and then dig toward the star - the defences would be useless. - I think that S.T.A.R will win .....

See if you can do a skeletal archer turret at all the doors similar to Zedaphs from season 5. They where lethal. For added cruelty you could have these areas setup to collect their dropped items to sell at a shop

Make a lave pool on top of the building, juste leave a gap for you near the walls, if they use ender pearls, they will swim :D
