What a vocalist here. Roger sang the studio version which was good, though Freddie knocked it out the ballpark here into another Galaxy. The bravado, range and soul in this live performance must have shook the entire arena down. Just incredible to say the least

It's a concert, that's totally normal. He sings a lot of songs during a concert, he starts losing his voice, try to scream for an hour and you'll see. Unlike to the studio recording, where he sings only one song in multiple partitions. So he only sings all that phrase where he hits that note and then stops for minutes, maybe an hour.
@linobarzoni9587
@linobarzoni9587 6 жыл бұрын
Robson Matos he meant that he wouldn’t try to sing as the studio version , when he hits an incredible high note.... if you scream like that in a live concert you may damage your voice for the rest of the show....

@@MrFusion Totally agree. I've never worked in radio but my guess is starting around 1990 (the first year I remember ever hearing the term "classic rock"), the classic rock formatted stations only played the songs that were either released as singles or on greatest hits compilations. It's like they forgot all the many, many OTHER songs from these bands that also got a ton of airplay back when they first came out. "Dragon Attack" and "Need Your Loving Tonight" are exactly the same in that regard. I used to hear them all the time. Today, only Queen fans are familiar with them.

@anam.fuentes9659
@anam.fuentes9659 6 жыл бұрын

It does exist yes. I used to do a podcast called 'The Killer Queen Chat Show' and for an episode about 'The Game' that we didn't get around to be we folded I was in contact with Mack. I asked him about this, He confirmed that there is a full run through from Freddie. Not only that but there is also a full Freddie version of Sail Away Sweet Sister. Who knows if or when they'll be released. But the 40th has come and gone for the Game, so I for one was terribly disappointed at no extra tracks on the anniversary edition.

It has the energy and it is lovely to hear them do it live. But this version doesn't groove half as much as the original studio version. It is not very tight and a bit sloppy in a 'rock' way, which does not suit the character of the song. Just my opinion.

The studio version almost feels like a Roger Taylor solo song, and it makes sense because he does a majority of the instruments in the studio version. The live version, since everyone is involved, feels more like a legit Queen song. Maybe that's why the groove feels so different.

Also, I miss Roger's lead vocal. It's fully understandable he's not able to sing it live while drumming, but his vocal on the record is so damn good - Freddie's vocal here doesn't even come close.

Queens problem from 1980 onwards was that the production of their records sucked... muted guitars and too pop sounding. When they played their song live they were always way better than the recorded versions...just like this song. Its an all out rocker that gets the right treatment live.
