He was not perfect, but I believe what he did would have been impossible for anyone else.

Since T.E. was born in Ireland is there any evidence that he took on board the IRA war of independence against the British as his influence against the Ottomans..?

This book is full of inaccuracies. There is no evidence that Lawrence was raped in Daraa - for instance. To depend on Seven Pillars so much is to write a dubious book.

Like most rapes. What evidence would you want -- the bloody underpants? People - men or women - don't disclose such shameful, horrid trauma easily. The damage left behind on one's life is enough evidence that something horrible has happened and if you look at the man, you'll see the damage.

@Anna Dayton yes but all from his telling. That does not prove it was truth.

@Anna Dayton hi, I am aware of John Bruce and the marks but Lawrence was into a form of masochism that we all agree on. But that does not mean the incident at Daara was true.
@DamienSlattery684 жыл бұрын
@Anna Dayton I hear you but there is no evidence that he did not exhibit tendencies before Daara. And just because someone might have sexual tendencies toward s&m does not infer an assault predicated the inclination. There is no proof whatsoever that Lawrence was raped in Daara. We only have his word on it and Lawrence lied quite a bit. His own book is full of dubious claims. Michael Asher even managed to prove such. And if Lawrence shied away from this homosexuality for fear of societal reaction as you suggest then why dedicate Seven Pillars to S.A? And his fondness for Dahoum was quite public. We have to ask ourselves why we might deny Lawrence that particular mode of his sexuality anyway? If he did like masochism of some sort then what of it? Why must a violent incident be an excuse for such behavior? Doesn't it say more about us than him?

@Anna Dayton I will stand by my points. Wishing you well of course.
