Keep up the great work, your videos are very throughout and nicely done. I wish you were doing these when I first started playing Heroclix!

The Tabletop Teacher Very true. Just curious but what are your plans after explaining everything there is to know about Heroclix?
@TheTabletopTeacher8 жыл бұрын
There's a lot to keep me going for while with Heroclix, mind you, but I'm about thinking Dice Masters or Star Wars X-Wing... but I might even start those series before I finish Heroclix; hard to say.

Best character that has indom, would have to be Alfred from the older Batman set. Man you can try to support and heal 2 turns in a row. Plus he has stealth..

Was trying to remember how it was the old version of will power. Here it is, not self pushing anymore
@eatingpancakesrightnow27863 жыл бұрын
I still remember when I got out of heroclix. Me and my friend didn't know the rules very well and usually skipped token and pushing rules. Except this one time he was adamant about playing with those rules now. After finally giving in, it was only afterwards I found out all his characters were indomitable. He was like this with any kind of game we played. Screw you Owen

Question: Lets say I give superman a move action and then give him a token. When my next turn comes around i decide to push him instead of clearing him, I then make a power action and give him a token and click of pushing damage. When my next turn comes around, do I clear both action tokens or just one? Second Question: In this scenario would I be able to push superman as soon as he finished his move action or would I Have to wait till my next turn to push him?
@sherekhangamedev4 жыл бұрын
Hello friend. For the first question: After the turn that Superman taked his last action and now had two action tokens, that turn he needs to rest, and can't take more cost actions (he still can use free actions). At the end of that turn he clears all his action tokens (let's say is his 3rd turn because let's suppose he taked one action on every one of his last two turns) Question 2: You take a push when you decide take a costed action already having one action token, when the second token is placed after resolution you take one damage. The only way to make an action having 2 action tokens is with Colossal Stamina if I remember well, and then the character receives a pushing damage.

So basically you can keep attacking and moving n attacking n potentially taking out your opponent with out letting your opponent even have a turn?
@Organous7 жыл бұрын
My best strategy against Willpower is to bait them into using it, and make them think I won't push just because I lack it. If I can taunt them into thinking pushing is a good idea, then they'll be stuck next turn. Sometimes, my opponent will also choose to clear, thinking they're safe against me because I don't have Willpower, when I'll instead take the opportunity to push for that first big hit. It's really a mindgame thing. I feel like Colossal Stamina & Masters of Evil should've been addressed here, though. They feel like Willpower, but act very differently.
@TheTabletopTeacher7 жыл бұрын
That's a very good strategy, indeed. Especially since several characters have very interesting second clicks (I'm thinking of my recent favorite: Purple Man from ADW). For the sake of keeping the tutorials new-player-friendly, I try not put everything that could be addressed around a topic in a single video. It also leaves room for comments and suggestions! Thanks for watching and commenting.

as always, very thorough. I like how you eili5 (explain it like I'm 5). question though, cosmic and quint can't be countered but will power (the power) can be, what about indomitable? which ones can be countered, ignored or "can't use"? edit: actually, you cover this well in your outwit video that I just watched.
@TheTabletopTeacher8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question and positive comment! I'll leave a quick answer here, but the full answer is in the Outwit video (which you've seen as well, thanks!). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX_UoIuvfNWfZtE In regards to characters that have the Power Cosmic or the Quintessence team ability, their powers cannot be countered; that includes Willpower. The wording of Outwit is very important... Here's the first sentence (emphasis marked by *): Give this character a free action to counter *a power* or *a combat ability* possessed by a single target opposing character until the beginning of your next turn. "A power" can be a standard power (color-coded), a special power (white) or a power granted by a trait or team ability (but you cannot outwit the trait or team ability per se... just "a power" the target character possesses). "A combat ability" is an ability that is printed on the character's base, like Flight or Indomitable for instance. Not all combat abilities can be countered, though; the powers and abilities card tells you which ones can't. Thanks again for your question and have fun!

The Tabletop Teacher - I am still fairly new to Clix and love discovering something I didn't know before. for instance, while I knew you could counter things printed on the dial, I had never considered using outwit to counter an ability granted by a team ability, resource or equipment until you just explained it (I guess I should be posting in the outwit video instead of here).
@Fuzzywumple8 жыл бұрын
Marc-André Lalande - also, they must "possess" the power and not just have the ability to "use" the power. some TA's, equipment and resources allow you to "USE" the power without actually "POSSESSING" the ability. which makes figures like Jenny sparks and Nick fury who block the ability to "USE" without actually countering or outwitting more appealing.
@TheTabletopTeacher8 жыл бұрын
Just making sure... There's a little subtlety there you must keep in mind. You can outwit a power or combat ability; not just any ability granted by a team ability, resource or equipment. For example, you could outwit the Stealth power that a Batman Ally is using, but you could not ouwit the effects of the Mystics team ability because it is not "a power" nor "a combat ability". Those nuances in vocabulary are important (and kinda fun when you enjoy "playing" with language). Whatever is described as a "power" or "combat ability" is fair game unless it is specifically indicated as "can't be countered"! Have fun!

The Tabletop Teacher - I think that the subtle nuances in the wording and how important those nuances are is what makes heroclix such a challenging and great game.

An overlooked tactic is to counter an opposing character's Willpower/Indomitable. It's often unexpected and can really throw a wrench into the opponent's strategy as he/she can no longer take a non-free action a second turn in a row without taking damage. At atleast one occasion it has been the deciding factor in a game I've played.
@TheTabletopTeacher8 жыл бұрын
I fully agree! It's easy to forget about it (which I mention at 2:23). I think it's because we tend to focus on "outwitting" attack and defense powers. What's your take? Thank you for comment and wise reminder!
@matthewrandell50558 жыл бұрын
Same, I adore Outwitting Willpower or Indomitable on characters that have one action token already, it can really throw an opponent off as they're not used to that character taking pushing damage, and it often stops them pushing it at all.

This does not pertain to this particular episode just in general, as inspiration for adding effects to your characters. I had started "FX'ing" the pics I take of the battles, to make a comic book story. My thanks to you, but especially these series you make. I am a first gen heroclix player, retired, but getting back into the game.
