Heroic dog leads owner to orphaned baby bear struggling for survival

This heartwarming video shows a smart dog taking the lead and guiding its owners to a weak bear cub fighting for survival during a walk in a forest in Irkutsk, Russia.
Luckily, Elsa's owners work as specialists at the Irkutsk Zoo and as soon as they discovered the distressed cub, they knew exactly what steps to take.
Lyudmila Ivushkina, the person who filmed this video and that serves as the Director of the zoo gallery, said that the baby bear, believed to be female, had likely been left orphaned after hunters killed its mother.
Veterinarians expressed concern over the frail condition of the bear cub, stating that without immediate medical intervention, it would have likely survived for just one more day. At its age, the cub should have weighed approximately 15 kilograms, but it was merely 3.5 kilograms.

Bears need about a year with their mothers to learn the skills necessary for survival. That’s why mother bears are so fiercely protective and never let their cubs out of their sight. This one had no chance on its own. My heart melted seeing it take the bottle. Great rescue!

Video was done on 8.05.2023 during official visit to the forest by zoologists from Irkutsk to look after birds in the area( Russia, Sibir) So they are professional and while normally wild animals survive or not on the own, the dog found this bear cub and they were sure that she is ( cub is female) in bad condition and there is no mum around. This baby bear was 5 time underweight 3.5 kg instead of 15 norm for her age. Shadow( her name) lives now in special wild animal shelter and it is planned to release her into the wild next spring if she will be healthy enough.

The mom had to of died naturally, accidentally, protecting cub from a male bear, or intentionally by a human. I say this because bears are apex predators, meaning they're at the top pf the food chain with no predators themselves.

Won't be able to go to the wild. Cubs stay with their mothers for about a year to learn all they need to know about surviving on their own. Humans won't be able to teach that. Some accredited zoo somewhere in the world will probably take it in.

THANK YOU this was hard to see the rough beginning but the first bottle of ,milk !!!! The vet scene was real tough to watch , i wish they could have sedated it a bit but it was likely easy for me to say and wish that little baby bear was so scared. Time was of essence in saving this baby bear. Thank God for his dog making his dad realize that this poor bear needed help FAST. Y😮could tell he was grossly under weight. He didn’t have the energy to scale up the tree behind him, and could barely walk.
