I've been playing this since getting my a500 mini a few months ago. I learnt to put the casters at the start of the line up, otherwise you will waste the effectiveness of some spells. Completed 3 levels but it was so difficult without having the casters first in the line-up. For example if you attack you can still take damage unless Petrify is cast on the enemy. If the caster with Petrify is at the end of the turn order the spell is useless. You can never change to line-up, not even in between levels so put your casters first.

1:29:00 - Mind flayers *are* copyrighted, but so are beholders, and suspiciously beholder-like creatures appear in this game as well. I think Wizards/TSR has just had a shifting legal relationship with their IP-based creatures over time and only enforces the copyright selectively and mostly in connection to the OGL, though. There's a blatant Mind Flayer in Final Fantasy XIV for instance, which both looks like a D&D mind flayer and is called "Mindflayer" as its monster name.
@MrEdders123 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I noticed that too, I looked into it but there was a lot of discussion over trademarks vs. copyright etc. (something that was also an issue in the Milton Bradley/Runescape dispute over HeroQuest).

By the way if you ever plan to cover Deus Ex ... you have to also talk about the PS2 port ... that like Crimson Skies is a different beast... new gui , CGI cutscenes , different mission structure and maps , new models ... making it (even if the story is similar) a totally different game
@hfric Жыл бұрын
Same with Splinter Cell Games ... PC and Consoles are totally different games ... the most visible is this in SC : Double Agent on PC\Xbox360 it was a non-linear game when timing\what thing you did in what order\or even who did you talked to ... gave you a different mission\objectives\map you play on... by many it was a clusterfuxk of bad writing ... but on PS2 even if it had the same name , it was a totally different game ... following a different script , with superior writing

Unfortunately no boardgames, I live abroad and it's not realistic for me to hold on to too much physical media beyond CDs and such. If my circumstances were different I would definitely consider it. I suppose hypothetically it could be played in "Tabletop Simulator" but again, convenience/scheduling issues would be an issue. I know there are a few reviews and "LP"-style videos on the new boardgame out there but I don't have any specific recommendations 😇

I see the Grimbeard name in here also - is that a reference to a fellow KZbin or an actual character name?
@MrEdders123 Жыл бұрын
All the names are fixed. I would never stoop to creating a character named "Angor the Barbarian", for example 😆😆 I don't recall if Grimbeard was the dwarf's name in the first game or boardgame (they weren't consistent about names anyway), but technically speaking the model/art design is also Games Workshop's famous "White Dwarf" mascot (the history of that design is a bit confusing, with miniature poses, early art etc.). Staz Johnson did two designs for him - the one seen in AGITW, who looks closer to the in-game sprite, and the final one that looks like the boardgame version.
@hfric Жыл бұрын
When you will do that Crimson skies thing... explain the xbox\PC thing ... how the PC version feels like part 1 and the Port for xbox 1 , that was to be canceled , but after dev hell was pushed out looking like a thing that could be on today's consoles ... and feels like part 2 ... with story structure similar to Halo
@MrEdders123 Жыл бұрын
The Xbox version isn't really a port so much as a totally different game, so I won't be covering it in the CS video. I will mention some of the development background like it being developed as an "interactive movie" before switching to a quasi-open world hub-system with sidequests etc.
@hfric Жыл бұрын
@@MrEdders123 same can be said about all Disney games ... same name, different product ... just see Wall-e, on PS3\360 its a sandbox game build on the story from the movie , on PS2 its a Movie based platformer with FMV cutscenes from the movie and levels around them ... or when Ubisoft and EA ported to PC Xbox 1\PS2 versions then the ones from Xbox360 (when M$ paid studios to do dirty tricks to Fake X360 graphical Power) ... fine examples are Godfather 1 ,or Peter Jackson's King Kong ,or even the game GUN ... PC got the xbox 1 version, then the xbox360 ... the difference in quality was the size of the Grand Canyon ... from textures , to pixel shader effects , to assets , to FPS (when one was in locked 30 the other 60)
