It's not all bad news everyone, I actually have a lot of good news that i'll be sharing soon enough! But for now I just wanted to say thank you all for your support. I never wanted to make a video like this but i'm blessed to be OK and my bike isn't too bad either. We will rebuild (eventually)! Stay safe out there everyone!!

I hate that this happened to you man, but I'm glad that you're ok. The RC51 is a solid bike and I'd love to see you bring her back to the same spec. Keep an eye on the RC51 fb groups for replacement parts. There's satos and OEM plastics being sold on there onna fairly regular basis, but as you know parts are getting harder to find year after year. Good luck with whatever you do.

Hey i have a sato banzai can for the right side of my rc51. I was hit by a car and it crushed the left side but right was no really damaged. I tool the sato gold plates off the rivets but you can very easily drill yours off and rivet your one onto mine. I like your videos and i know those exhaust are very hard to find. I tried to find a left one but gave up and got some original k custom one and riveted the sato plates to them. Anyways sorry about your bike man

Yeah I fell on my BICYCLE a year or so back with jeans on at like 2mph literally, got a three inch hole in the jeans and a two inch scar on my knee, fell on my dirt bike around the neighborhood, and lowsided (knobbies) pulling away from a stop, maybe 5-10 mph, huge rip down my jeans and decent bit of road rash on my knee, scared later, managed to ride home and change into shorts to say it was another bicycle acident lol, I was 16 then (17 now) and was nooooot supposed to be on the street with that thing. Definitely learned my lesson the hard way, DENIM DOES NOT SLIDE, it tears. Definitely atgat going forward!

Sorry to hear about this. It happens to us all. I laid down my 400 once and 2 days after getting my 600RR I hit a deer head on(but didnt go down) and it costed like $400 for new parts.

A week after I got my first bike, a 2012 Yamaha fz6r I hit a deer. I slowed down to about 15 before impact, didn't even knock the deer over we just exchanged pains in our asses. Luckily I didn't have fairing on the bike, I took them off because it was my first bike and didn't want to scratch them up. So i only broke the front cowling. 471 part so about 511 after tax and shipping. 40 minutes to put the new one on and I was back in business

Anyways i got lucky because my bikes fairings had seen crashes before so only difference was my mirror was broken. I didnt hurt myself luckily. Was only doing 30mph and i was watching deers eating at the side of the road... when i looked up again there was a corner... so dumb Just keep in mind ATGATT. Thats what saved me from hurting myself.

I was doing 70mph East St Louis near the arch, a turkey ran up a bank from a lake and took off into the air right in front of me . All I saw was feathers skim my helmet as I tucked the bike hard left. It nearly took my head off. A truck next to me gave me a KSHE thumbs up. Im glad you are ok. You will have fun repairing it. The tank making it is great new, the rest can be replaced.

Looking at the comments makes me shudder. ALWAYS wear proper riding gear - every single time you ride. Feeling hot in your gear? You can get mesh gear that is lighter than normal clothing would be. You want to look casual or smart even? Just get the armoured stuff, there are so many styles available. And as for boots, always use high enough boots that provide protection for your shin bones as well. Drive safe!

Hope You Have A Speedy Recovery Man. I Know It Must Hurt More To See The Bike In This Condition Than Your Leg, But Some Falls Teach Us Where To Draw The Line. Not Taking Away The Love That You Have For Honda ( I Myself Became A Fan of Honda After Seeing Your Videos) Do You Think As A Rider, If You Had An ADV Bike (Something Like Triumph Tiger/Suzuki Vstrom/Benelli TRK/ BMW 850/1250 GS) The Fall Could Have Been Less Fatal Than What You Had On A Supersport ? I Know You Won't Change Your Riding Style After Having One Bad Fall, And I'm Not Asking You To Change. But Does It Ever Cross Your Mind To Think of The Different Possibilities Where Your Bike Could Take Most of The Fall, Rather Than You Having To Depend On Life Saving Riding Gears ? (I Know Riding Gears Are Essential On Any Bike And There Is Just No Way of Predicting The Fatality in A Bike Accident, with Cars It's Much More (For The Lack of A Better Word) Sophisticated ! PS. You Almost Reminded me of The Housekeeping Lady From Tom & Jerry or The Mayor's Secretary in Red Dress From Powerpuff Girls ! Thanks For Still Keeping Your Identity A Secret.

Sucks man i work as a spraypainter and fixed a lot of motorcycle parts the front fender easy fix and paint same goes for the rear the side is scratched up but it looks fixable you can sand a lot out of plastic without needing bondo. the font fairing looks fixable but it might be more economical to order a new one butt if i where you i would still keep it and try to fix it even if it doesn't work out you would have learned a lot out of it by trying it and perhaps keep it as a spare if i lived in the states and lived in the era i would have gladly helped you with but its kinda hard to do from the netherlands if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask

Thank you for posting this. Hopefully more people will realize that leg protection is just as essential as the jacket. Given your speed, sliding off the road very likely saved you far worst knee wounds. I know that looking at it, people can't imagine how painful it can be, especially if the wounds are large and start to get "crusty". Not to mention the cleaning of your burned (by friction), ground meat seasoned with rubber dust and sand. Wear good motorcycle pants. You'll get used to it.

Is wrapping the fairings an option? I ask because I have a nice 10-12mm scratch down to the black ( on pearl white) & I don’t know if to use colorite & touch it up + a few lil ones, get new OEM fairings, or get them wrapped. Let me know I’d love to hear ur advice. Most important you’re A-1 w/ minor road road rash. & There is a company that sales OEM direct from the manufacturer ( with #’s ect). If u need the link just comment I’ll shoot it to you. I am kind of in the same situation. I was walking my new 2020 ex400 down a driveway & Baby Mother drama happened & it hit the curve on the right,& then hit the left side. Nothing like yours but fairings are down to the black, gear shifter bent & hopefully no other problems. Funny how you mention insurance bc We pay a nice amount a year & it seems like most riders don’t get to use it ( I’m thinking on just switching to liability/170 $ a year). Peace n blessings. Awesome bike! Sgk23.

Actually gasp when I saw the title I know you like this bike. Crazy you would most likely have come out of this unscathed had you had proper pants gear. Can’t wait to see you back on the road. Cheers.

ouch my sympathies, i got hit doing 30 last month and my left knee ended up pretty similar yet i was wearing trainers and my ankle suffered the worst, only slid about maybe 20 feet but the skin got burn down to the tendon and still healing to this day, my little 1974 yamaha rs100 didnt fair so well either and she was an all original too, if anything the accidents made me more attached to the bike to the point where shes now getting the cafe treatment and a fresh rebuild! every cloud has a silver lining!

When does this happen to us because we are always more concerned with the bike than with us? I'm glad you didn't get hurt anymore and the flesh and the skin really do come back. And as soon as possible you will be at your command again. I am 59 years old and I never stop butchering my friends head to always use good protection, this is an example like so many others that could have gone worse if you hadn’t used them The best and best laps🤙

Been there already bro, glad to hear you're ok. I have the same exact damages as you on my lowside. I replaced most of the parts already, just today I pulled the trigger on the front cowl, ouch 360$ with free shipping. Quick question where did you get your clutch cover from for $120+, I wasnt willing to spend $170 on a new one so I'll just replace my old one back on. The trick with these bikes to to hold onto old parts because you never know when you'll need them.

I went down back in June at 35mph on an on ramp. Was wearing my camo uniform pants but had full gear on otherwise. My right knee got gashed all the way down to the patella. Hospital sewed me up and said my CT scan was clear.... 3 months later I finally got an MRI and my patellar tendon and PCL are both torn. 🤦‍♂️ starting riding again about 4 weeks post crash. Funny thing is i have less discomfort riding my bike than I do driving the car.
