Was the Hero Wars Ninja Turtles Event All Just a Big Scam?

This was a carefully thought out and deliberately implemented scam based on the player's trust gained from previous events of this type. Now the nexters pretend that the players are stupid because they are unable to understand the genius of their fraud;)

During the Augustus event, I did not level up the "Tool to increase coins" beyond 3 stars. This time for the Ninja Turtle event, I upgraded the Medallion of Prosperity to 4 stars because I thought I could gain a ton of coins considering that this event runs much longer than the Augustus event. When Chapter 4 was unlocked, I was shocked to learn that Archeologist's Tool & Materials (without NT coins) were given as rewards for Boss battles. Had I known about this earlier, then I would not have leveled up my Medallion of Prosperity beyond 2 stars. I have spent tens of Archeologist's Tool in Chapter 4 and resisted the urge to spend them all in Chapter 4 because I'm hoping for better rewards in Chapter 5. If Chapter 5 has worse rewards than Chapter 4, then I will be very disappointed. Real life has many disappointments. That is why I turned to this game for solace. Games should bring joy to the players and not disappointments.

The funniest thing is that they cheated mainly paying players who were initially fooled by the relics and buying bundles for them, assuming that they would work throughout the entire event based on the description of the entire event they published. I bet that many of the paying customers have lost trust in them... I won't even mention the shop closing early or the lack of coins from Brawl fights out of politeness...

I would disagree with that Charlie. If this was a one time thing, sure not a problem. However, this is not a one time thing. Players are feeling as if nexters is constantly finding ways to screw you over. They gave content creators a free maxed hero just to help limit the bad PR. You said it yourself, you are not that upset because you were given a free maxed hero and this doesn't affect you. Plus, look at all the extra resources that you were able to get because you didn't have to use them on the turtles.

I disagree too! I bought and spent a lot of emeralds (around 180k emeralds) during the event. Also bought a few of the daily offers for pizza. If I want to get an absolute star turtle, then I have to buy the Path of Glory Golden ticket for another $36.00. It wasn't inexpensive.

As I'm a 100% F2P player, I did not feel cheated of my money's worth of purchase. I have kept myself F2P for a few reasons. USD is x4 of my local currency. Even if I were earning USD or Euro's the overall prices are very high (even after 80% discount) compared to some other games I have paid to play. I'm old-fashioned and do not have a credit card, online banking or e-wallet (which I believed to have helped most of my money not leaving the bank). I started Hero Wars on 07/July 2024. Currently, my hero power is within the top 100 in my server. Also, I'm constantly placed in the top 100 for Grand Arena though none of my heroes are beyond Orange +2. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to beat player who have 200k team power (having a few Red Heroes with pet patronages for each hero) more mine in the Grand Arena, using the Rock, Paper & Scissors strategy. These players tend to invest so much into leveling up their main team whereas I concentrate on leveling up 2 teams of almost equal team power. At the end of the day, the game rewards are not all that different and you would not be missing out on any item which you can't purchase with money. I was lucky enough to be recruited into a 3rd-ranked Gold League guild though I told the guild leader that I was F2P and would stay that way. I'm only a gatherer in that guild as I'm not strong enough to fight in the Guild Wars but my guild leader every now and then expresses appreciation for the gatherers too. Being in an active guild has sped up my progress without having to pay real money.

Update: I have a level 8 Change Spray. I opened 139 vases and received 150 soul stones to get a 5-star turtle. Buying the golden ticket gives 120 soul stones which means I still need 180 soul stones for absolute star. I have 62 picks left which means I will have to be extremely lucky or spend more money on picks.

I'm so glad I listened to you and learnt my lesson from the Lara event, so I had over 600 pizzas at chapter 4. I play the game for free, so I had to make it count; and because of your advice and my caution, I reached 6 stars just now! Got all my stones via upgrading the sprays. I might not be able to get the totem, but I'm still very happy, haha! And yes, that Lara event was so horrible! This event is so much better. I genuinely enjoyed myself getting the items, collecting materials, and upgrading the turtles!

Nice to hear about your good fortune and strategy. I'm a new F2P player so I did not experience the Lara Croft event. From the August and Ninja Turtle events, I did learn that the strategy is to hold back spending till the very last moment. I'm waiting for 20th December to spend my Ascension Crystals so that the rewards coincide with two concurrent events.

Exactly, that's what I did too. Surprisingly I even lvled up the turtles to +1 red without having to pre-purchase just because i lvled up so many of my heros i didn't have other use for the materials. This event has been fun for me.

@@soldier22881 Before I joined Hero Wars, I had been playing another game which I paid real money. Then I wanted to find a relaxing game which is not at all complicated. I thought that game was Hero Wars as advertised on youtube. When I clicked to join, the real Hero Wars gameplay was nothing like what was advertised. Nevertheless, I was so hooked on it that I abandoned my previous game immediately. Till today, I have never logged into my previous game though I have some remaining paid items which are unused.

Am I surprised? No. Am I disappointed? Not really, I set my expectations following Lara event to negative and this has been at least break even I aimed to get Red rank, 4 star and defeat 400 lv boss. I will achieve all that and may yet get 6 star. My only purchase Path to Glory ticket. Crunching the numbers in retrospect maybe it would be possible with zero spend if you mixed every event every day but unlikely. I had lv2 medallion of prosperity and 10k coins compensation more than enough.. for those with higher levels probably it should be higher as very misleading that coins stop after ch4 My main take is that all of this could have been avoided had this event been built around enjoyment rather than profits, its very clearly and afterthought that has left many disengaged or unhappy, there is a good chance they would have generated more profit anyway with a better event people were happy to pay for. I take the information they publish with a grain of salt but would be nice if they improved their communication to a point it could be trusted, I also directly messaged support to clarify some of the issues with rewards and relics but never heard back

you are right, except the compensation, if you have saved most of the pizza you will get 200x500= 100.000 coins, so 10.000 shows how much we player are worth to them...

That chapter 4 defaulting to an earlier chapter when raiding, cost me treasury picks and rewarded turtle coin instead. I wont be able to complete the 200 pick task, in which I needed 5 of the 12 pizza energy from that task. I've counted, I planned to use 18,000 emeralds to reach the necessary pizza required. [996/level 4 material seeker] with this error, now I have to spend 25,000 emeralds to get the pizza from that task. Which is fine, 18,000 or 25,000 for a totem fragment is great. It's that 7,000 emerald difference [free player] that's a bit sour since I wanted those for winterfest.

You have a choice, but not really, as they included a task in the event chapter 4(+5) to get energy from using those tools! So yeah, you can go to chapter 3, which we will probably do, but then you have to give up on that extra energy... So the coins invested in the Medallion are basically wasted if you want to do that task. And that remains terribly misleading! AGAIN changes from the former event, which put players on the wrong foot.

I went from level 230 to 400 for the Path of Four the past two days. I had to spend around 700 or so pizza. At 2500 coins per raid with a 4-star bowl or whatever it's called I'd have an extra 300k coins. If they have a decent shop on the last part of the event to spend them, then I'm out of a lot of potential resources.

It’s scammisch. I have spent some 500 pizzas in chapter 4 so far and … even with a prosperity lvl2 it would be some 166.000 coins more to buy stuff. 10.000 compensation is not really doing it.

love this video! they made me so angry because so much I planed and decided to do during the chapers was wrong, that feels so unfair because I know I could have make so much better if the hadn't lied so much. And they gave us compensation worth not even 3% of what I will miss. For example i have 200 raids left on the last day, For each 1000 bonus coins =200k ninja coins. Got stsolen 48 pizza, two spray levels... And if you talk to the support, you know that the company politics is not to make "happy gamer" 😢

I've opened 150 vases, only the 8 golden vases and whatever it takes to get a refresh button. I've gotten ONE (1) pack of turtle soul stones. 1! It was in a golden vase, luckily, so I have 75 soul stones toward my sixth star. But still, terrible luck.

I don't understand you all, those who complain. When playing in F2P, very little energy to buy to have a total of more than 600k emeralds including a totem, so it's great, provided you have saved the energy. By paying, around 260 euros, relics 1 and 2 at the max, spray level 13, and by purchasing energy daily, all calculated, I am at an equivalent of 1 million 300,000 emeralds. For 260 euros in purchasing emeralds x5, you have around 500k. So by paying, and doing things right, it's equivalent to emeralds x13 at the very least... The best profitability is to look for the green vials in the vases x5, as soon as you get it, reset. Afterwards, if people spend their resources regardless... I loved this event in terms of rewards, better than Lara's in terms of profitability/investment. 2 negative points: no red artifact chests and no turtle coins from chapter 4 when spending energy

I can't believe that they took two weeks to notice and resoond to a confusion over the turtle coins. That was weird. I managed to get 60 turtle skin stones so far, and I hope there is an easier way to get the red stuff

Honestly, if this idea had been communicated properly, I would be 100% in favor of it. It gave us a choice - go for brawl coins and unique equipment from the brawl shop (which was a way better way to get them than the secret lab), or wait and go for the lvl 400 prize via justice or maybe soul stones in the treasury. It's an interesting strategic decision for the player. We shouldn't expect to be able to get everything we want without big spending - it's a resource management game and this was an interesting resource management decision. But then they went and pulled the rug and now it's just a crap feeling for everyone.

Ah well. I spend 180 axes breaking vases and got 90 soul coins. Pretty far off from getting even a level 5 and I paid for the pre tmnt red+1. What a scam. I bought more axes and got no soul coins. Pretty bad luck. My 2nd account I did not buy a thing and was able to get to Red and lvl 5 already with already 120 left to get to 6star. Is this rigged.

I for one never even thought about the Medallion of Prosperity offering coins on fights that doesn't have coins. I absolutely agree the Ninja Turtles were handled much better than Lara Croft. I do not expect Nexters to be so kind/generous again in the future.

It wouldn't surprise me since the gameis going brooke, and they had a year to turn themselves around. Their stocks and trade are frozen and they needed a miracle really and they couldn't get Marvel's co-operation to have Wolverine get involved, so they went with the next best thing, the TMNT. which sort of came in handy because it offered them a tie link for the TMNT/Naruto comic special crossover to celebrate both of thier anniversaries. The dominion became the 'secret mysterious world' the turtles would stop off first to gain knowledge and equipment to use and survive in Nauro's world, since Shredder has taken refuge there and trying to conquer that planet instead. And that said, since the Turtles are 43 years old, loved by everyone, they knew this would be the golden carrot that they were looking for. A clever lifesafer and one of the reasons why this event was/is easier than the most. It is designed to bring people back. Just a shame I can't get the red artifacts, or skin stones, but yeah. It is a clever rouse

Just think how unfair it would be if the first 3 chapters gave just coins and the 4th chapter gave coins + axes - that would be the real scam. This was one of the best events even for F2P players imo ... sad some people are more upset of one thing they 'assumed' did not go their way, than really happy and enjoy the quite extensive and rewarding rest of the event. Whole idea of game play is to relax/enjoy and not to be pissed off lol. Any way, when design and develop a complex event like this, one thing or another is bound to go unnoticed even in testing and by the time release to market, not much can be done about those, but to give some pacifiers. Enjoy the season guys, there are exciting events throughout December ... unlike some rather uneventful, boring and dull months.

Speaking of bad info, I've used the chart of "best teams for the path of four" quite successfully...until level 390 (to be fair that's nearly all the levels, so I'm "complaining" with several grains of salt...you know what I mean); who "confirmed" that best team?? I even raised the buff +10 [to 245] and double-checked the lineup, but 98 tries later the team *UNIVERSALLY* dies 15 seconds in!!! If I'd known it was LITERALLY impossible to win that fight, I'd have spent all that pizza on Change Spray and really gotten something for all that!

I follow your channel and follow you advise 100%. I waited to used my pizza for section 4. I'm at leve 290 and your recommended BUFF is 95 and I'm at 110 and still not past this level. What that means is that Hero War is changing the algorithm level by level and all the learning and effort to learn as a community is for NOTHING. I don't blame you as you are trying to build the right community. Hero war is just changing the rules as they go and it discourages players trying to learn the game to the next level. Investing in a game that keeps changing the rules is not fun anymore.

Yes it was. 1) in chapter 4 + 5 where are the turtle coins? So if you upgraded medallion of prosperity, it doesnt work in chapter 4+5. 2) If you killed boss 400, you get a totem. So let's say you dropped 150k emeralds on purple balls and therefore have about 150k to go on bad luck it will reset you back to 300k which is highway robbery - bad luck protection emeralds should be seperate from event totems no? Else what is the point to actually dropping 150k emeralds on purple balls in the first place? You get punished for completing boss 400. Pffft this game is a waste of time!

Lara event, effectively 250 coins became one archelogist tool for vases, but we could still earn bonus coins provided by the relic. Charlie is right, indeed it is indicated under the relic, but given the content of the blog supposed to help and the experience acquired it is unfair. They could have specified as he says to be careful that apparently similar content is not, rather than creating false apprehensions about a possible change of what was in fact (for this event) already false in our minds due to lack of initial clarity. Due to lack of initial clarity, because I am sorry, but if they replace riddles with grinding to tease «eh! the ad is the same as the game», to make the Scientologists angry, "no, it is not true!" so we should be warned that we must re-read the descriptions each time. 10,000 is a great(or a lot) for someone who didn't plan anything, but it's nothing at all for someone who thought they could make 600,000 again besides hammers.

@@DaddyBiscuits Thanks. And generally, no, I do not feel lucky. As I was busting vases to get turtle soul stones, my very first x5 vase had the 75 stones in it. Then, I proceeded to have to break every single vase (or nearly, maybe 3 left max) on each screen to find the 15 stones. On two boards, it was actually the very last one. I noticed I got secret lab coins twice and the skin stone box once out of I lost count of the boards I went through(at least ten) with 8 gold vases per board. Some of the prizes are trash, like one silver material. I have all but 100% decided to grind pizza into turtle coins and see how many Unity of Extremes or the like I can buy before end of event. Oh, and I did buy hammers, I bought the second biggest package for 130 bucks, which is why I broke so many vases and have some hammers left. I felt the "lucky" vase breaks were really few and far between. I got a lot more satisfaction spending a couple hundred thousand turtle coins on upgrading hero items. Using what amounts to an expensive hammer to get one silver material had the opposite effect.
