I do a lot of work with anthropology, specifically the genus Paranthropus, which is an extinct hominin from Africa during the Pliocene epoch above 2 million years ago. A part of my research involved herpes as that genus is thought to have transmitted the disease to direct a direct human ancestor, such as Homo habilis or Homo ergaster. The HSV-2 virus is very similar to the chimpanzee variant of herpes (CHhv). Geographic overlap of the Honinins and Panins of the time make Paranthropus the most likely culprit for transmitting it to humans. This means that Paranthropus got the disease from a chimpanzee ancestor somehow and passed it along to a human ancestor. I’ll let you think about that for a bit.

I told my daughter not to drink out of my Pepsi can. She was 15yo and didn't listen of course. When you get HSV l for the first time at that age you can get really sick and she did .
