@emdiar6588
@emdiar6588 4 жыл бұрын
This is what happens when you try to celebrate too many things. I mean, 365 days is woefully inadequate if your going to insist on dedicating them to things as prosaic as toilets. It gets worse! You don't want your cause buried by Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve/Day. Likewise, Valentines Day and Halloween are pretty much taken, so we need to either add more days to the year or stop assigning them to daft shit. Even Feb's leap day every four years is filled up by marriage hungry women proposing. As for Easter and all its hangers-on (Shrove Tuesday, Good Friday, Ash Wednesday Ascension Thursday etc.) they really need to get their act together.

You could do it as a yes/no flow chart which you hold up for them to see. Give them a pen and have them fill out the form. 1. Have you ever been in a lift? Yes: proceed to step 2. No: questioning terminated 2. On any of these occasions, was a famous person (non-contiguous with your own physical body) present within (not exterior to) said lift in the lift experience while aforementioned lift was moving? Yes: proceed to step 3. No: questioning terminated 3. Was above-stated famous entity non-coincidentally present with you before entering the lift? Yes: questioning annulled. Flow chart incinerated. No: proceed to identification of celebrity, employing interview techniques to derive humour from anecdote.

I was disappointed when she started talking about masks and claimed that they don't work. First, they DO work. But more importantly, we don't wear them to protect ourselves, we wear them to protect other people. When a doctor performs surgery, is he wearing a mask to avoid catching a cold? Of course not. I genuinely don't understand how so many people can have such a fundamental misunderstanding about the reason we should be wearing masks.

I think international men's day should probably be about men. There are plenty of issues, such as suicides and mental health, male sexual assault, male domestic abuse. And some people might think it's a bit too 'PC' to point out, but saying 'real men protect women' isn't a very healthy way of looking at things; men are just people; we should protect each other. Unreasonable expectations is one of the reasons male suicides are high.

Just to play devil's advocate some universities ban/prevent anyone celebrating international men's day in any official capacity. The fact that most people don't even know the day exists tells you that no one really cares. That being said, I think it's kind of stupid to celebrate and be proud of something you didn't accomplish, something you just happen to be. As it is now it's very clearly half people who actually care, and half people who are just virtue signaling and don't really care to do anything, or even speak out against places where women are horribly oppressed. It's similar with men's day, it's a lot of people who are just showing their political allegiances, and not doing anything meaningful to address issues like the male suicide epidemic or gay men being killed for being gay in certain parts of the world.
