Another exquisite piece!!! When you first started working on this piece, for some reason, I envisioned a double herringbone design which is probably an impossible thing to do. With your talent and expertise, I wouldn't be surprised to see it sometime in the future. Keep on lathing!😊

Why don't people saw off the corners before they start turning? It seems as if it would result in less wear and tear on the tools and allow getting to the finer detail work quicker. Asked by someone who has not yet done turning.

In my opinion, it speeds up work, because there is no need to cut corners, but every turner may have a different opinion, and I think that's fine.

I am new to turning and love your videos. Can you tell me if you forced the end grain to be pointed outside in uniform, or staggered, or you didn't notice (I doubt that part.) Do you have to adjust your technique and which of your tools do you prefer? Please keep the videos coming.

the grain edges can be smoothed using sandpaper attached to a hand grinder, that's what I usually do to smooth the grain edges, I'm used to using carbide inserts
