This is PART 1, PART 2 is still to come. This video is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my efforts to obtain information about this car park and its lifts! This video is a video of the NEW Jackson lifts, which were installed not by Jackson Lifts, but Temple and Aurora Lifts.

They seem fairly efficient. Nothing too good, but not bad either. Are they faster or slower than they used to be when put side by side? I don’t really like those LCD displays used as the indicators. I actually see them as quite pointless, especially since the backlights tend to fail often leaving them very dim. I’d much rather have a coloured dot matrix board. I suppose they might be seen as modern, but in my opinion these displays don’t look modern at all. They look like they’re straight out of 2001 running on Windows XP. It’s also nice to see that they have door close buttons, however I don’t think they even help with Lester Controls. The door close operation starts as soon as you press a floor number anyway.
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
Indeed they are quite efficient. That will be in part 2, along with the large amount of effort I had to put in to get the parts from the old lifts. The displays are what I'd call basic and decent quality. I can see why you'd refer to them as being something straight out from Windows XP lol! Happiness is a door close button, or a lift with door close requests, as you correctly stated these have. The useful thing with a door close button is that you can ask the doors to close as soon as everyone has finished getting in. Other than that, they are a bit unnecessary, but I'm not complaining! The lifts in the shopping centre have had broken door close buttons for ages... Thanks for watching.

Liking the extra bits you are putting on your videos now, the commentary, the little animations, the two cameras together - little things like this make you stand out and it makes the video more interesting. Regarding the old liftcrans, it's always interesting to see how they turned out, but I'm glad I filmed them all when I did. And... good old dewhurst buttons! Boring, but from actually meeting the people at Dewhurst they are very kind and thoughtful people. And their products are excellent as well - a really good company from the UK to be proud of (they are worldwide also).

I like the multi camera views, very good, not a bad replacement imo (or mod or whatever it was)
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was a full replacement sadly, the only thing that remains is the original door frames. However, this refurbishment of the car park has made it a much more modern and desirable place.
@Lift.Tracker
@Lift.Tracker 3 жыл бұрын
@@MichalM Nah, more is original than just the outer door frames. The entire car is original, but the interior and doors have just been replaced. On the car top it’ll still be old I think. The original guide rails and counterweight should still be there too as there’s nothing wrong with them.
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lift.Tracker I got told it was a full replacement, yes maybe the counterweight and guide rails remain, but the lifts otherwise were fully removed. I was there and saw the car top, didn't look old at all. Cables were quite shiny, counterweight was bright yellow.

@Lift.Tracker 3 жыл бұрын
@@MichalM Hmm, I see, fair enough. I’m just comparing them to that Express Lift motor room visit that I did in that shopping centre. That lift still had a lot of original stuff on it despite still being considered a replacement. The main thing is wether the motor is replaced or not to determine wether it’s a mod or a replacement. :-)
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lift.Tracker Fair point, the motors were completely removed from these lifts. You'll see a photo of the ground floor lift lobby during modernisation (it was a bombsite) in my Part 2 video, hopefully it will be out soon ;) The motor will be in one of the photos.

This is okay for a generic but a bit plain looking, the one thing I like is the indicator and the way these new lester logics and custom VF level the lifts though they should've used vandel resistant buttons, the Deerhurst isn't gonna last long, I know from experience and the indicator and also buttons should have it's own plastic bubble or protector, watch when that indicator gets vandelled let alone the buttons.
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
You bring up a very interesting point about vandalism here, which I agree would have had to be taken into account by the council. It's partially to blame for this modernisation, as one of the lifts had their doors kicked in on one floor, and it was taken out of service for that reason (the other lift had a knackered gearbox hence why they decided to replace both of them rather than fixing them). It's very plain, I agree, which may be because of people throwing stuff at the lifts, and if the walls are just blank then it will be easy to clean off. That's the only other vandalism I've seen in these car parks, which are now very heavily patrolled. Cameras are everywhere, and automatic lights deter these sorts of people, as the security guard can just watch the cameras when the lights turn on. I can't complain about the levelling, and to be honest I don't mind. The buttons are an interesting point also, but I don't think it's vandalism that will cause them to break, it will probably be wear and tear before any vandalism takes place. This car park is now insanely busy and everybody uses the lifts, unsurprisingly. When I'm in one lift, the other lift is always moving. This will be a good test for the new lifts as the old lifts broke down all the time, supposedly.
@MichalM
@MichalM 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lift.Tracker I agree. If I was the council, this mod would have been different. I would do a cab refurbishment for both lifts, polishing of doors on the left lift, replacement of the doors on all floors on the right lift, and refurbishment of the gearbox on the left lift. Clean everything up in the motor room, and replace things that need replacement. Clean every single button panel and lantern too, they look amazing now I've polished them :)

It is an absolutely superb refurbishment, the whole car parks looks amazing! Every credit to the council, who appear to be very good at refurbing car parks. Indeed the Liftcrans were better, but we can blame chavs and high usage for their replacement. Thanks for watching!
