Very nice choice! The moment I saw the Ohlins, I thought she might ride the Harley a couple more times, and then it`s going to just sit and gather dust. Compared to my 99 BMW R1100S, my FXDC is heavy, slow, clumsy, crude, rough, and in general unrefined. Did I mention, it`s slow! These same comments also apply to my 09 XR1200 Sportster, which the Beemer will run circles around. Also, no more crap bearings for you. I know you will really enjoy this bike.

Among old bikes we currently have a '69 Ossa Pioneer, '70 BSA 441 Victor, '74 TY250 Yamaha and a '76 XT500 Yamaha. In 2015 we bought a 650 Suzuki V-Strom which until the Harley came along was going to be our last bike. As much as we love the Harley, we ain't sellin' the V-Strom. Hittin' the back roads is fun and the dirt road experience will make YOU a better rider!! At 65 yrs old I enjoy ALL types of riding. Stay safe and have fun, Jim & Libby

WHAT? A NEW BIKE? A TRIUMPH?! REALLY?!! Good for you!!! I started on dirt bikes, and loved it. You will love it too, most likely. I’m also glad to know the names of your bikes, and why. Mine have all had names too. Nox is Latin for dark, as in equinox (meaning equal night - when the day and night are equal). It’s a cool name for a motorcycle. And Nimbus is perfect for that bike. Nimbus is a dark storm cloud, with lightning & thunder... very dramatic!

What people fail to realize. Is there a lot bikes that ride better than Harleys. I own a Harley for one reason they're easy to fix and parts are everywhere. So if I get stuck anywhere in the United States I can get the part very quickly and replaced equally as quick. And I also do happen to love the sound.
@vferdman4 жыл бұрын
I agree. Most bikes ride better than a Harley, but it's hard to get Harley's sound, feel, character and ease of maintenance. Been riding a Sportster for 16 years and loving it, but came to it from a Honda and that '83 Honda rode at least as good if not better than my '04 Sporty. I'll never get rid of the Sporty, though. Maybe add to it.
@gfunk639014 жыл бұрын
i totally agree. I bought a royal enfield 2 years ago and the dealer was like 2 hours away and it is not a good bike for speeds above 60. then the dealer stopped selling and servicing enfields. A lot of the other brands have same problem. With a toyota, you have so many options. Harley seems to have a huge dealer network and if you get screwed by one service shop, you can go to another one or a private mechanic who used to work for Harley. I just bought a triumph knowing there is a shop near me
@nbrider72354 жыл бұрын
That was one of the determining factors when I bought my 2003 Softail Nighttrain. A friend had a copy of the HOG touring handbook that includes maps with all the HD dealerships marked on them, I realized that in southern Canada and the Continental United States you were never farther than roughly 100 miles from a HD dealer. I was doing a lot of two up touring with my wife and that extra peace of mind was definitely a pro. I put 75,000 miles on that bike and other than a flat tire in the Finger Lakes region of NY and needing to bleed the brakes in Glenwood Springs, CO after crossing the Rockies I never needed that extra "insurance policy".
@lucyferina4 жыл бұрын
Awesome Andre remember how long it took Harley to fix her bike because the parts were not available?
@awesomeandre17574 жыл бұрын
@@lucyferina yes I do that's also why I bought a Sportster. It's the least problematic and most reliable out of all models of Harley. Also I use JP cycles, Amazon, and others to keep me out of the HD dealership. However my HDbloomington takes really good care of me and can beat other third part sites prices.

Like others, wasn't expecting that bike. One thing to get use to with a tall seat height is spotting an avoid putting your foot down in low spots on the ground. Or if you need to put your foot down in a low spot prepare by shifting your butt off the side of the seat. I suspect that by the time you read this you will have already figured this out. Hard saddle bags help when picking your bike up after it needs to take a dirt nap. But, it is true they don't go really go well with the styling of the 1200XC. My late wife road motorcycle with wind protection for about six years before riding her first nake standard style motorcycle. (Your Scrambler is somewhat standard style.) One of the things that I will always remember is hearing her cursing over our Bluetooth intercom as she merge onto the interstate on a Ducati Scrambler. She had the same feeling that you experienced. She felt like she was going to get blown off the motorcycle. I think that this is a pretty common experience when taking a nake standard style motorcycle to speed the first time. This includes my experience 35 plus years ago. (She rode an Indian Scout before. But you sit more in a Scout. Kind of behind the fuel tank. On our little 250 dual sports we would tuck in to make it to 70 mph without overworking the engines. Most of the other motorcycles she rode had fairings and windshields.)

If you're getting heated grips, you should get heated gloves. The grips will help your palms, but the gloves will help the outside - which is where the wind hits! If you had a fairing, the grips would be enough IMO. I have plug-in heated gloves and they're great down to well below freezing, but I also have a Street Glide Special, so the fairing prevents a lot of wind from hitting my hands. FWIW, I felt the same way - riding on top - the first time I rode a "standard" bike (it was a Ducati Scrambler).

Wow 😯 shocked at least it’ll be more reliable than a Hardley. 😂 jk congrats and enjoy!! those things have a good rep out there

lucianoromero777...hmmm, more reliable than a Harley huh? I bought a 12 Street Glide new and when I sold it she had 78k miles on it with ZERO mechanical issues. Bought a 16 Road Glide Special in Sept 2016 and when I traded it she had 57k on it...ZERO mechanical issues. Bought an 18 Road Glide Special in April 18 and currently she just rolled over to 50k miles...ZERO mechanical issues. So genius tell me again about the Harley reliability?? Why don't you just STFU if you don't know what you're talking about.

I had a Triumph and like it. The only thing was the seat was uncomfortable until I put a sheep skin on then I could ride for hours after that.

Can’t go wrong with a Triumph. Love my Harley but it doesn’t move my soul like my Triumph.

I own this exact model and year since September 2019. (black) When I got it, I loved it at first. Then it just got better. This is one of the best bikes in the world. I rode sixteen hours on one occasion and was still able to walk. I'm making a wild guess that you will love this bike.

She’s been talking about a road glide on Instagram lately. I think it’s a road glide.
