Old school trick for finding a grounded circuit that's pulling power! Disconnect the positive terminal connect a basic test light between the hot cable and positive battery terminal. If it lights up at all start pulling fuses until it goes off. Your problem is in that circuit! You can do the same thing with a test meter using load function to find non grounded problems!

Yeah, that is the way to do it, good advice... I normally use an amperage clamp style multimeter, but they are a bit expensive for the little use you'll have at home...

**EDIT** I should have mentioned that we already had the battery and alternator tested. Key fobs are also fine. It seems to have a parasitic draw happening somewhere draining the battery. Tomorrow we have an appointment with a dealer to check the fuses and run tests. Still troubleshooting. LMK if you. have a suggestion on what could be draining the power!

Maybe a dumb idea, but any courtesy lights in glove box or mirrors. Check they are off. And look around at any recent work. Edit: nevermind lol it sounds like Jordan has isolated it or something. I'm deaf and couldn't catch it all. You'll figure it out.

I'm a tech and will do my best to help over the internet. I would be willing to ride down from Michigan if needed. First question is any add on devices been recently added? If so try disconnecting those first. Open both doors and latch the door latches closed and let it sleep. The battery needs to be charged in order to do this testing. Take a voltmeter across all the fuses that you can with everything off and if you find any that do not read zero that circuit has current flowing through it and is causing the draw. Then we can narrow it down once we have a circuit causing the draw. Hope this makes sense. The reason I say open both doors and latch them is because may need to access the interior fuse box and you don't want to be opening and closing doors causing stuff to wake up and possibly leading you down the wrong path. The reading on the meter may seem low but that is voltage drop of the fuse and the current the device is consuming is quite a bit to kill your battery

Sounds like a parasitic drain't you check you trailer connections for any loose or bare wires and always unplug chargers if you leave them in. Also check to make sure your cables are tight on the battery with no corrosion...

My mom had a truck that a tow engage switch under the dash close to the drivers side and it would just flash and stay on and would drain the battery. Just a thought

Definitely check for a parasitic draw. I recommend latching doors and thr hood while theyre open in case there are fuse blocks in the truck, disconnecting the battery negative terminal and connecting an ammeter between the negative posts. If there is a draw of over 20 milliamps after a half hour then start pulling fuses to locate thrme draw. Also, when its hot our I'll ride in short sleeves, nothing wrong with that at all

Dude, that setup you established there with Jordan driving and you still being able to do your 'me' riding by yourself sounds like the perfect solution to all those questions you had last year about the future. Good for both of you! The truck might not have been exposed to trailering prior. As it is not new, expect something breaking once in a while. Trailering puts a lot of stress on the vehicle. Keep that in mind, have a little emergency fund you can throw in when needed😉 Ride safe 🤙

Jess, I Don't Know what Your Electrical Problem Is. But I Do Have some advise on Your Truck. I'm a ASE Certiied Master Auto Tech withover 37 Years in the Industry. I Don't Know what Engine You Have, But If You Have a V8 With Active Fuel Management. (It Shuts Cylinders Down to save Fuel) Have That Disabled ASAP. Ussally It can be done with a tuner. Or Replacing the Cam & Lifters But That is very exspensive. If you don't the lifter stick & eat the Camshaft & can Destroy Your Engine. Enjoy My Home Town Of Milwaukee

I feel you, I lost the fuel pump in my ‘21 street glide less than two weeks before Laconia and had to trailer it 100 miles to a dealer that would try to get it fixed in time.

Jordan is a great mechanic and will resolve this issue , I think , i think he is spot on with a possible body control issue as there are some circuits that should go to sleep after a power down that maybe are not . You definitely have a right to be cranky with your truck messing up that close to leaving. But thankfully it happened at home and not on the road, repairs are cheaper at home than on the road, and you know who is working on it. In the dark circumstances, there is always a bright side. Whenever have problems, I usually thank God for preventing me from being in an accident or some bad situation. I have truly had to stop for something I thought was crazy, and got down the road to see a bad wreck that I probably would’ve been in the middle of, if not for the problem. Sometimes our problems are a blessing. Have a great trip, I am so glad that Jordan will be with you on this trip, and I know that he is glad too. This trip will be a blessing for both of you.

I had a problem with the instrument cluster drawing current and the radio also did the same thing killing the battery. Pull the fuse on both and see if it's one or both killing the battery. Good luck.

Jessica the shower in the camper you should be able to change the hose and head with a residential shower head cause some camper shower heads have a low flow restricter to preserve the amount of water in the tank

Pull the neg cable like people have said and use a test light. Start with anything you've added to the truck first. Takes time but that's the best way to find a dead short. As to the camper, are you sure the pump is on and running? The pump on our camper went out and it did much the same thing, like 10 minuets to flush the toilet. 30 psi of water is what you should use but many parks are lucky to have half that.

Check the electric rear window defroster circuit relay. I had the problem you describe years ago on a leased Cadillac that the dealer could not resolve. I ended up using the lemon law to get another new car. Months later I asked the dealer about the issue and he said the rear window defroster really was stuck on. A $30 part cost them a new car.

Is it connected to the trailer whenever it goes dead? The charge circuit to the camper battery is live always on GM trucks. If your camper is connected it will kill the battery. Whenever you are parked disconnect the trailer light plug from the truck.

I used to have a Chevy truck. I drove it for 25k miles. That was when I traded it in. Non stop electrical issues. Every time it started, we would clap. We had a fleet of them at work with similar issues. I hope you have better luck.

Sometimes an ecu will get stuck awake. One thing to try is to disconnect both positive and negative cables. Jump one to the other and that will deenergize the capacitors resetting the modules in the vehicle. It may work it may not but its easy and worth a shot.

If you are confident in it being a "parasitic draw" on the battery a easy temporary fix is after replacing or recharging the battery by driving or charging. You can hook up a battery cut off switch on your ground post, it may be a bit annoying disconnecting every stop and every night but it can get you by until you can get it in to track down the draw in the system.

If there's a shop near you that specializes in automotive electronics they should be able to find your starting problem. On the campers water pressure issue campers have a pressure regulator on the external water inlet. It could be bad or plugged. Try running water on the internal pump and see if you have more pressure.

Have you change the battery in the key fob? Here a few months ago, my pickup didn’t want start or unlock the doors. So change the batter and it work. But I did end up having to get a new key fob for my pickup and everything works now

I have a black Shoei RF-1400. Last summer I thought it was too hot and got an HJC modular helmet. I found the HJC to be much heavier and with the chin bar down the venting was worse. I ended up wearing my Shoei for most of the rest of summer with the face shield out (I wear glasses with transitions coating all the time anyway). With the face shield out it’s much cooler. This summer I took the chin skit out and that helps with the venting too. I think Shoei has some of the best venting of all helmets on the market. Also, your chin camera might be blocking the chin vent. I have a camera but it’s mounted off to the side.

Main fuse block on top of the battery are known to fail internally and kill the battery. I would start there.

Water pressure... are you hooked to water when using the shower? Do you have a pressure attachment on your hose? If not hooked to water and using it out of your tank, do you have the water pump on? Don't use the water pump if you don't have water in the fresh tank.

I'm not sure what is wrong with your truck but here is what I would check. First, make sure it is charging. Jump start and allow to run for a minute. Check the voltage at the battery with a DC voltmeter. If it is 13-14.2 volts the system is charging. If it is below that the changing system has a problem. If they tested the alternator and it is working I would replace the pigtail that connects to it. Those go bad a acts just like a bad alternator. Second, if charging is good check for unusual draws of power. This can be a headache. Pull fuses one at a time and check voltage across it. You will need to know which ones are always powered, a fuse & wire diagram can help. If the fuse test hot and shouldn't check to see if it feeds a relay. A bad relay might be the problem. If no relay is involved, check that circuit for a frayed wire or defective component. Hope this helps.

Tracking down a parasitic draw is always a pain. I would start by looking at anything aftermarket you've got plugged in or wired into the electrical system.

@@HerTwoWheels battery was good. Alternator was good starter was good took it to two mechanics before the dealership. Both mechanic said it was the ECM and it had to go to the dealership took it to the dealership and they confirm that the ECM comes from China. It’s nothing but a computer but that is the whole problem, it’s going to cost $2000 and I would trade it in but since it won’t do anything I won’t get anything on the trade. And if it is the ECM the dealership is the only people that can really fix it so if I were you, I would have it towed there and have them check it.

Wonder if its the battery in the fob? I just had to replace my fob in my 19 equinox, it wouldnt detect the fob unless i put it in the cup holder, had a hard time unlocking and puttin the lift gate

Parasitic draw possibly caused by a loose connection at the starter will cause the truck to not start. If everything powers on but no start check your connections at the starter. Best investment you could make is an Autel scanner.

I understand your frustration but I think you are looking at it wrong. It is far better you have this issue now rather than while on the road. Electrical issues are a pain, very true. I think you would be ok in FL , you just need to climitize . The other day I seen a dude on a all black RG wearing full all black gear.....now that to me is insane lol. It was 107 that day! Lol. On your RV if it has a water filter check that, if not that check the lines, make sure none are kinked, then the pump. Oh if the water tank is not vented then that may cause it not to flow right,,,at least in my mind. Idk my schedule yet but I should be at this campout. I would love to meet you and Jordan 😊. Have you tried a new battery in your key fob? Without that working, it won’t allow truck to start. Hopefully you figure it out. And as I’m writing this, I remember my truck doing this same thing too! The cooler weather break is heading towards you from iowa. It’s only 74 today in western Iowa.

Yeah, we actually ordered a kill switch for the battery as a last resort. The alternator works just fine. (Even though I wasn’t taking any chances and already ordered a new one four days ago lol.)

Make sure your ground wires are still making solid contact on your truck there should be at least 2
