They tried to charge too much for the rental. They did it at a premium, but that is not the way to build the rentals.

I would be careful jumping on "cheap" tesla from Hertz. Please double and triple check the car and make sure the car have not lost any guarantee from the manufacture.

Chances are there will be no gaurentees, it's gone through one owner, also a commercial one at that, Tesla probably won't honour it,

@SeanChandler its as is, super high interest rates, no accessories, basic model, no added features besides autopilot. Made it home with 15% without knowing I needed the car transferred over to even super charge, so it sat in my driveway for almost 5 days. It's taking some getting used too.

EV's are a passing fad. Owners will be stuck with a vehicle that nobody wants in the future. Hydrogen electric is the future and always has been. Just check out what Toyota and BMW have partnered up to do announced in early September 2024.

The charging is the issue. Policy should be: Drive all day, but return with battery above 20% or there's a battery health fee. Other than that, EV can be a premium experience and no fees for charging upon return. Customers love the experience and keep it simple. No time delays #1 Rule: take care of your customer

Hertz made an alpha move and investors want the general public to think it's a bad thing. Tesla owner know how good the cars are and feel the need to defend them. Don't. Keep the secret to yourself. If you buy and hold Tesla stock, you know what to do. Just let the mainstream media and KZbinrs run with it. Hertz realizes that Tesla makes the best overall EV experience. Other companies like GM or Ford are hit or miss. Hertz sold their old inventory and will buy a lot of the new refreshed Highland Tesla Model 3s.

All Teslas suffer from mediocre build quality. Their cost to value ratio is worse than Stellantis. And that is really bad.

Hertz second biggest blunder was demanding customers to charge up before delivery… are they kidding? Its so stupid its redicolous The good thing is that ice veichles are dead this decade👍👍👍👍👍

Doubt ICE cars will be dead this decade. Maybe 2-3 decades left on them. I think the biggest issue is infrastructure which has to change and that'll take quite some time to transition.

Agreed. Tesla should have destination chargers at every rental location and Tesla renters should worry about charging before returning the vehicle. This simple adjustment would make me rent electric over gas vehicles. This means your can pick the car up, drive it around, charge at the hotel, drive around more while on vacation or business, then return the car with no hassles.

Hertz should reduce the acceleration of the fleet cars they buy to maybe an 8 second 0 - 60, so people won't just rent them to launch over and over and over and wear out the drive train. Hertz looks stupid selling an asset when it's price just dropped. They could rent out these cars for two more years. Obviously these cars paid for themselves by now anyway.

@@teslabot5650 What's Gen 3? Also, all Teslas with the required hardware was promised to be a part of the robot taxi fleet. Tesla would be back tracking if they said, only the future Teslas would be fleet capable.

As a long time Tesla owner, over 5 years, the problem is lack of education as to how to drive and charge an EV. Range anxiety has been over hyped in the media so people freak out and either spend to much time overcharging or don't know how to use the built in navigation to find charging locations. Hertz, as you point out, got caught up in the hype. On the Tesla side of things there are 3 big problems; 1) For the average driver they need to have less "toys" and simplified driving software. Not everyone is tech savvy. 2) Parts availability. This is not GM or Ford where some parts have been used for decades and several models and thus are cheep and available. 3) Tesla and Hertz should have talked more and set up superchargers at all Hertz locations.

If the cars for sale have this many miles on them it looks like they were rented out pretty much every day over the past 2 years, so what makes you think it wasnt worth it? Oo Just dumping them in the market now before the battery dies

Was definitely worth it for the capital raise but assuming a Tesla was rented every day for $45/day with Uber that’s $16k per year, $32k in two years which barely covers the depreciation. There’s also finance interest expense, cleaning, charging, repairs, maintenance etc

yeah quite a massive amount, with that number the car got recharged every day in the past 2 years and probably with super chargers cause its a rental. Sooo the battery is probably pretty fucked at this point lol

You don't get it. Nobody who has ever owned an ev ever wants to go back. A rental car is a completely different story.There is a learning curve of one week until you know and appreciate the differences. After that there is no going back.

My EV is so much cheaper . Fucking love it. I spent $15k and got a 100k mile warranty, get like 100 mpg, they will get cheaper too, and i have solar power , that’s cheaper also
