yeah sadly a lot of business owners think they'll easily find someone else so they don't teach you and only call you a couple times a week. then when they really need you, you already found a boss that appreciates you. and of course they'll keep calling you because they know you're dependable. but it's too late, they tried showing you that they were of high value already.

Many times what you need could already be in the top chute behind the boot! Check it out and scrape it down don't have the driver discharge any unless you need too! It already could be in the chute! Hey Mike, Dowling into existing slabs is fine but don't dowel into foundations. Your slab will move with Frost but foundations don't.

exactly! expansion against foundation and ur supposed to use dowels and expansion expansion against any and all existing cocnrete or masonry ur dowels should be greased. this allows a little bit of movement if not it’s too rigid remember even bridges flex and are meant to flex…

You don't use dowels with foam. The dowels don't allow for the movement and you don't want any movement against the foundation

The dowels are drilled beneath the concrete allowing the concrete to rise but not allowing the slab to settle

Nice work mike. Only recommendation is take it easier on jarren. He’s a solid kid and good worker. Mad respect for coming back. I know he said he had a game but I know from experience it didn’t feel good you telling him to leave like that. Happened to me when I was younger worker with a boss, then on big and nice jobs he had other guys come and sent me home. I hated it because I was with him all the time then when shit got real he would send me home. Almost like I was a backup. With time as I got better that stopped, but still not a great place to be in. Someone like jarren could be a solid long term help, even when he’s back in school in the afternoon and such. I would loose him to rough around the edge behavior. Personally now that I hire guy, I never send them home, especially if it’s not a super high paid guy, I’d rather throw him $60-80 for doing nothing then send him home and make him feel like he’s not needed. You could have put the ball in his court. I know you have a game so if you want to go early we cna probably mange, but if you can’t stay we could definitely use you. Etc. Make him feel needed even in times he’s not very needed. I’ve made this a way of life and it’s payed dividends. I now have about 3-4 college age dudes who I can call in 2-3 day notice and have them work a few hours in the afternoon which is extremely hard to find these days. Those connections matter
