You know one of the things I like about watching your videos when your repairing something if you see a way of improving something you do it that takes years of knowledge and know how a piece of equipment works and if you can make it run better or operate better you do it regardless if it cost you more money or not keep doing what you do i really appreciate what you do

I've seen another youtuber who works as a welder. When he stickweld he does not light the weld on the place to weld. He always start next to it to not get any contamination. And does not stop in the weld as you pointed out
@72otago985 жыл бұрын
I worked with prototype reversible Dowdswell ploughs years ago in the mid 90s. They put special tape over the welds and with a special hand held light could monitor the stress points and how the welds " work" ,while working,,, was pretty cool. The flaired off welds distributed the stress in the metal beam outwards from the end of the weld by a couple of inches.

It looks like you could slide square tubing inside that C channel and weld it good that should strengthen that C channel. Just an observation . Might save you some work. Cheers.

Paul Hudson --- I like the square tube inside the C channel idea, and I was thinking welded sleeves for the through-bolts would reduce "crush".

You should be able to straighten that top channel with a porta-power and some heat. Then weld a gusset inside it or something. If the top is open and nothing to push from, just weld in a temp plate or a bracket. My uncle likes running rocks through the combine and i've straighten some big stuff with it.

A few years ago the dairy I work on part time had fire. Done with haylage on a Friday afternoon and bad weather coming, they parked the silage trucks and everything else in the barn and shut the doors. A kenworth truck, something shorted out and very slowly it burned up inside the barn. The truck next to it, the running lights melted along with the lights in the building. It burned itself out and nobody even knew until Monday morning when they opened the door and found a melted shell. The cab was gone and the aluminum castings on the engine melted. Everything else was just coated in soot. Very lucky.

Which tractor are you running on the new stack wagon now? It would be cool to see some video of it running now that you are all back home and back to normal operations. Is it working out good for you? Just reflecting back what a difference now in your operation than it was. Just 3-4 years ago! How fast times change.

Quite a substantial difference between German and American engineering and workmanship, no doubt. Surely American manufacturers are capable of producing much better products, yet It appears the operator (Joe) allowed the hammering to go on while baling more than just a few strokes before and after that bolt broke. Perhaps he had headphones on at the time? If a warranty were applicable, Hesston would argue that alterations to produce a more compacted bale than suggested, put the machine under undue stress and caused the massive failure. Perhaps with smart re engineering by O.L.F, the baler will be better than when it was first manufactured! This endeavor may be more in depth and involved than anticipated.
