Love Claudia Patacca's voice. So ethereal and befitting this piece! It's also full of challenging pianissimos that she handles so beautifully!

Agreed. A mesmerizing voice perfectly suited to this work. It was a privilege to have heard this performance.

@@bronxboy47 strange, I think her interpretation has nothing to do neither with the work nor with Poulenc. But it has a lot to do with her. what I mean we hear a lot of Patacca and not a lot of Poulenc...

@@singhsinga4592 Yes, you're right. Your view is very strange--and at odds with just about everyone on this comment thread.

@@singhsinga4592: I guess English is not your mother tongue. I have no idea what it is you just tried to say. But let me repeat and emphasize that your opinion of her voice definitely contradicts the opinion of the majority of people on this thread. Of course, you are entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own reality.

I never fail to be impressed by the excellent Radio Fiharmonisch Orkest surely just as fine as many more "famous" orchestras. So lucky to have so many recordings by them on Y.T.

Performed this in college. Truly beautiful work. Love it.

At 4:15 the beat is almost lost amongst the orchestra and choir but later on steadies itself. Whew, that was close to a catastrophe!!!

Really, Mr. Conductor? The fifth movement is too slow for the soprano to sing 'Qui tolls peccata mundi' in a single breath. VERY WRONG.
@JohnJesensky6 жыл бұрын
Really? I had no idea you had spoken to the gods of music and they handed you down a metronome marking that MUST be used! I was under the silly impression that music is open to interpretation. I actually find the 5th movement to be FAR more effective when it is slow and mysterious - like walking through mist. One could say the soprano should practice better breath control. Or perhaps, they both decided taking a breath was fine to get their creative interpretation across? Either way, I'd always be fascinated to watch complainers stand up on the podium and do some conducting of their own....

Actually organman, that is the composer's tempo, the soprano just isn't very good.

Why is this recording still on the internet? In the 2nd movement the afterbeat in the orchestra moves to the beat. It goes wrong due the movements of the conductor.

because the over all presentation of this piece outweighs that one mistake. It is very good. Bold, intense and a good live recording.
