Literally. And though I agree that a lot of Shakespear's work is gay, it's kind of obnoxious to say you know better about the poem you *just* read than your teacher. Especially 'cus he's right about the sun being masculine if it's a reference to Apollo or Helios

It reminds me of my Latin teacher in University. He is old but he is quite nice, when he is not screaming at students for getting rid of their phones (he hates phones). We were talking about Achilles story because it was part of a Latin text we were studying and while he was explaining this story to those who didn’t know it, he said: Then, Patroclus who was Achilles lover got killed. And it seems like nothing but it was the first time I have seen a teacher, especially his age talking about gay representation in history/legends without any issue. Usually, every other stories people tried to tell me was « They were best friends » « They were cousin/brothers » « They were very close » but not « Lovers ». I don’t know, I just feel like it’s cool coming from a teacher to recognize the existence of gay people in history and legends.

Do you know about Ancient Egyptian history and incest? I’ve always known about Tutankhamen and Rameses 2nd but i learned recently that a majority of the Egyptian kings had sex with their sisters or fathers with daughters and brothers having sex with sisters. i like the characters. i like that they aren't afraid to push back against horrible adults. these are the kids i wish i had been able to hang out with in high school. its just so refreshing to see something like this. and the fact that its making straight people angry means its hitting the nail on the head. let the defaults get angry. i want more, but please don't cave to straight pressure to change the show. also the principal demanding they add straight people was like peak fragile straight snowflakey goodness. that guy is good at playing a baddie. what straight people need to get through their default skulls is that if they want nicer gay people, then maybe be nicer to us. i really hope this show doesn;t become all about straight people and how we need them or some crap like that.

i know this is supposed to be this great gay representation, but this series made my internal homophobia just skyrocket. I am 18 and only recently started accepting myself as a lesbian. I’ve grown up in a very conservative environment, where queer people were always seen as these “demons”. My upbringing made it almost impossible to accept myself. So, when I finally started feeling like I can be whoever I want to - I watched this series, and it feels like all of the hard work just vanished. There are a lot of stereotypes surrounding queer people. And having disrespectful behaviour and being social outcasts - are one of them. People avoid queer people because they think all of them act the same way. This series only supports those stereotypes. Have you seen the girl who literally ran away and asked not to kill her? Exactly. So, this series supporting that queer people can’t be accepted into the society because of the entangled version of who they are and how they act makes me lose all the hope. I wish I had never watched this.

Seeing you develop this series over the years from just an idea you talked about in our own GSA back in high school, to a real series that is providing so much necessary representation to queer kids has been amazing.
