Bill's Answer: Be Batman
@Arm4g3dd0nX
@Arm4g3dd0nX 8 жыл бұрын
I like the answer Bill gave to this question, something I wanna add though: Be careful what you wish for. If you were granted ultimate power with which to shape reality as you see fit, life would lose meaning. For everyone else, reality is just as real. For you, nothing is real anymore. Instead, I think "superpower" is specifically an edge you want, to be able to help others, or accomplish your goals. I believe everyone has an edge, or natural talent, or aptitude for a handful of things. The best teachers and mentors bring those talents out of you. For me, one of my greatest talents came from one of my weaknesses. I have moderate severity dyslexia. It made reading quite difficult, both within words and line-to-line, especially out-loud, my left from my right is terrible, and keeping numbers from getting mixed up was a chore. From that disability I ended up learning to speed-read, as skipping words and moving across lines is fine for getting the gist of what is being said. And even better than that, I acquired pretty strong eidetic memory. It helps me read text after I've already turned the page and in tests where cheat sheets are not allowed, I would look at one I made before the test was handed out, put the sheet away in my bag as I was handed the test, and replicate the entire cheat sheet on the back of the test from memory.

There’s one other super hero you forgot about. Iron Man. Tony Stark uses his arc reactor to power his armors. Naturally, they don’t actually exist, but scientists have been working on Cold Fusion and Tokamak technology. They have not perfected them yet, but here is my question. What do we have to do to make at least something similar to Tony Stark’s tech happen right now?

Jordan has a special superpower, and that is to evaluate his world with critical thinking. It's a superpower that must be exercised all the time or it fades, just like strength fades when you stop exercising. 1:22 No superpowers, but it's obvious batman is beyond your ordinary man. His money bought him training, high level education, the ability to travel the world, time to practice new skills and exercise, ALL his equipment, his satellites, access to restricted materials, the cave. He maintains a 210Lb figure while benching 5 times his body weight, leg pressing 10X his weight, running at Olympic speeds, acrobatics, hyper-intelligence, and sleeping for maybe 3 hours max. He runs a global enterprise, maintaining corporations in every field imaginable. He mastered all forms of martial arts in less than a decade, speaks multiple languages, and has the largest collection of kryptonite in his home. The strength he has is beyond human for his size, and I would argue that batman is a genetic anomaly, mixed with some supernatural practices from his time in Asia, because what he does is not normal.

He's basically saying you can't be Superman, but you can be Batman. That's fair. Though Bill, at the risk of sounding like a comic geek arguing with a legit scientist I feel I should should explain something. For starters Superman doesn't fly using a cape. All of his Superpowers are the result of him having an alternative body chemistry as opposed to humans. He's Kryptonian and his species take on the traits of plant like life, being able to get sustained by the power of a sun or yellow star of similar size. While there has been no proof so far that I know of of living beings powered by the sun in that respect, humans and other living things do draw life from the sun. It gives them their natural vitamin D. In terms of his superpowers. Go all the way back to 1939, where it shows the first explanation. Back then he could not fly. Merely jump high which judging by animals as big as Kangaroos or as small as frogs is more realistically possible. His strength was compared to that of an Ant. Since Ants lift more than their body weight. Even his trademark invulnerability is played for realism. Then you have the fantastic elements like flight, super breath and heat vision. Super breath is an exaggerated version of what we can do with our own breath in terms of warming our hands or cooling our soup. Heat Vision is solar energy harnessed into a heat beam. Similar to that of a laser. Which while it hasn't been advanced enough, many have tried to make a solar powered Laser Cutter similar to that. Then you have flight. While it hasn't been proven yet, they explained different ways of going around it, but the most common way is that Superman has a form of Telekinesis. Last but not least Superhearing and his multiple visions. While I have no idea if there is an animal that can see through walls all the other visions are covered. Telescopic and microscopic vision can be covered by the fact that there are birds out there that could see far beyond what the human eye can see.
