For the broken glass bowl comments your bowls broke bc they were cold and heated up to fast. Thus has happened two times in my life on bigger scales,my mom made baked mac and cheese and put a hot glass pan on a cold cold counter. Heat makes things expand and cold contracts so your rabidly contracting your glass causing it to shatter everywhere. If you do this bring your bowl to room temp then warm your bowls in the microwave for like a couple mins off and on THEN cook your popcorn and you should be good👍🏿

Lol after reading comments I opt out of using a towel to place over it.. I only used a plastic plate to cover and put it on popcorn on my microwave and came out just fine👍

Use small lunch paper bags you can buy a lot of them for 1$ put in half cup of kernels fold the top of the bag shut throw it in for 2mins

I use pyrex and have the time down to a science, so the popped popcorn usually sits in the microwave for a couple to several minutes before I take it out, so I haven't had a problem with the glass breaking... Those mentioning that might check to make sure the glass they're using is microwave safe...some glass doesn't like getting hot fast and then getting set on something too cool.. Have a cloth or folded towel to set the bowl on if taking the bowl immediately out after popping.. I either use this Amish "Theater Style" butter salt, or the old trusty garlic salt.... and not that I don't like it, but I NEVER put butter on it and the cloth I cover the bowl with for popping wipes the bowl out and it's ready for anything that's next...

Salt and butter are really good for you. You can eat as much as you want as long as you get real salt not table salt.

Wow. Thank you for uploading. We were gifted a novelty movie theater popper, it was a pain for a family of 6 to clean, lots of old maids down at the bottom. Went to pan method, the Teflon flecked off and they started asking who added the black pepper. 🥴 Tried a large metal bowl on the stove with foil on top (poked holes), scorched the bowl so badly it took a few soaks of vinegar to get most of it off. I needed popped popcorn for a church event, a whole container, and considered buying an air popper. I’m so glad I looked popcorn on KZbin and you came up. Saves me money and does a great job!! Thank you!!!!!

I put 1/4 cup of popcorn in a 5x9 glass bread loaf dish and covered with a dry kitchen rag. After 4 minutes of microwaving a few popcorn kernels popped and then the kitchen rag caught on fire. 0/10 Do not recommend.

What I'm interested in is that you can eat popcorn with an ileostomy? Craving popcorn so much (ileostomy since Oct/2019), but though it was a big no-no...non?

It really is though. I’d say wait a full year for your stoma to heal before eating any. Start small and see what you can handle. Drink a LOT of water when you eat it and chew it like it owes you something. I can’t eat raw apples at all and popcorn isn’t too bad if I do those things so everyone is different.

Do NOT put butter on unpopped popcorn and then put it in the microwave. Not safe.

@@melanieaudet That's not true exactly. Think about the bags you buy for the microwave. Just keep in mind that with hot fat, it can catch fire if you don't keep an eye on things. The general rule for safety is that if pops are slower than 1 pop in 3 seconds (after the main popping party); then you are at the maximum safe time and should stop very soon. If you don't stop within 20-30 seconds of this point, you will start burning the popcorns and if you have fat in the bowl, it might catch fire soon after that. I normally dissolve some salt in a tablespoon of water and mix it up with the corns before putting a knob of butter or a teaspoon of frying oil. Another option in adding the salt to table malt vinegar for salt and vinegar popcorn 😋. Then just pop the covered container in the microwave and proceed as usual.

Please do not put aluminum foil in your own microwave for anything. Although, if your mother in law insists on insulting you with passive aggressive remarks about how you're not so great in the kitchen, you can try to reheat some leftovers in her microwave by wrapping your meal in a packet of foil. This will most likely set her kitchen on fire. Who's got the better kitchen, now? You do. Keep on cooking, mama!!
