I just don't know y u wouldn't leave it on, especially with the heavy duty equipment he brought in. That would have have left the breast with a nice layer of skin attached. But hey it's only turkey I'm sure it's cooked thousands of different ways across the nation each year and im sure many people like there's different then someone else.

This past Thanksgiving, my grandma accidentally cooked the turkey upside down. My first cut is always into the breast meat, and I was really confused because my first cut was dark meat. I couldn't understand where the white meat went, until I flipped it over and realized that it was an upside down turkey with really broken hips. A pleasant side effect was that the usually dry-ish breast meat was incredibly juicy from sitting in its juices while it cooked, and the dark meat was still good because dark meat is always moist and delicious

Better is relative, it makes for a tender bite, like cutting steak across the grain and especially if it's a touch dry (ima gravy fan, so...) but if you're like me, a traditional turkey sandwich fan or your going for maximum servings, lengthwise is still best. Cross cutting has become "all the rage" since someone different it on food network a while back... But a sliced turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwich with mayo (Duke's) and salt... If you want to make cold cuts absolutely. But think of how Thanksgiving turkey is traditionally cut, it's with the grain because it's less work. But it's counterintuitive to how we cut all other meat. Extract the breast, cut horizontal/against the grain for the more tender bite and you can cut thicker for that reason which allows the meat to stay warmer longer/retain juices.

High-key, slicing it THAT thin ruins it in my eyes, we aren't making sandwiches ON thanksgiving/Christmas, it should be thick. between 3 millimeters if you like it thin, and 1 centimeter if you like it thick (That's like 2/16's and 3/8's respectively for my non metric friends.)

I bought a deli slicer years back - to my wife’s horror! She complained about how we ‘would never use it’. We use it every roast, every Christmas, every loaf of bread, every time we have to cut cured meats or eggplants for melanzane. I tell her that’s story every time - she hates it.

These devices seem silly until you get to using them. At home, our oven failed a few months ago (well, became epically dangerous. Something about the wires turning both the oven and stove top on at the same time, and if they could do that, then there was something else firey inducing that it could do) So we bought a tiny air fryer that could cook a couple things, but we could only fit like a meal or two in there, and generally only frozen goods. So I started insisting we buy an Air Fryer Oven. My parents balked and said we could just buy smaller pans. Nice idea, but we hate buying things and hate washing dishes. We got the cheapest of cheap and they didn’t cook well and well they still aren’t washed 😅 So finally, at Christmas, they bought a Ninja Air Fryer oven, splurged a bit over the one they were going to buy for this one a touch bigger. We’ve been using it non stop. It’s nice to be eating full meals and not just freaking frozen finger foods. Love cooking with that and for half the power cost :) Now we just need a duel hot plate for cooking soups and pasta 😂 Hope you got a laugh about that lol. Thanks for the tip about cutting bread in these btw I’ll try to use that to convince my parents to buy one lol fresh bread sounds delicious 🤤
