Hey, let's all argue about Exotic Class Items in Destiny 2!! This is a follow-up video after watching Mactics video on how Bungie could fix the current situation with Exotic Class Armor / Exotic Class Item Drops. Basically, we need Exotic Class Armor Dupe Protection & some other tweaks, otherwise Destiny 2 players just may not care enough to farm :/

Honestly they should work like Aeons with slot-able perks and instead of farming for more class items you should be farming to unlock “mods” to slot I don’t want to have 64 class items in my vault.

This is exactly the comment I was going to make. Even if you can get them easier, have dupe protection, etc., having 64 class items in your vault that all look identical is ABSURD.

​@@AcshualSnotskiNot only this but it's MESSY. No one wants to hold an item for each. They want the only 6/6 god roll and get rid of everything else. And there are only extremely few items that have maybe 2 or 3 godrolls because the weapon is that good. This is an armor piece for literally upwards of 40+ godrolls. This is unreasonable from a build crafter's perspective.

OMG - That is such a good F**king idea! Your first run unlocks the class item and two Mod slots. Then every time you complete a run you unlock another slot. Would mean you'd run the mission a total of 15 times to get every Mod slot available for one character then you can repeat it 45 times to guarantee EVERY mod slots for every class. Making someone run the Exotic mission 45 times is still good player retention. Then if they added MORE perks further down the line you could do it again to get those MOD slots. Highlight over the Square and you select it like you would a fragment or a Weapon MOD

In my opinion all I really want is dupe protection, or just some way to lock in perks at the cost of mats or something. Just those things alone would make it like 5x better to run dual destiny. Edit: After watching the full video i also think its just important to make players feel as if they are actually being properly rewarded for their time, and not just giving them the most mid roll ever so it feels wasted.

Dupe protection for sure. It’s asanine that they even have it still and if anything “ever at all”. There is a way to do it as apex legends does. I don’t know how hard it’d be to create that but writing the code to acknowledge “said players account inventory” hashtag =No_duplicate_ repeat .Null

The "no feedback" mindset is very much a "any criticism of a thing I like is direct hate and hate towards me". Its a very unhelpful mindset of people who do not interact with others frequently. It's 100% best to just ignore them, you cannot reason with them as they are not using logic but emotion.

In Mactics’ video I commented the following: “A way that I can see to alleviate the problem for the exotic class item is to do it through The Ghost Reputation system on the Pale Heart. How I see it is that every time you level up your reputation and for each prestige you will gain an additional slot for an exotic perk, similar to The Core activity playlists for their ritual weapons. So after its 4th prestige you are guaranteed three perks in both the left and right slots. I would keep your system in place while overlaying this system on top to help alleviate the initial problems of our current system.” In addition to that, I’m in the boat where if I have less to worry about my vault space if I have a class item that covers multiple combinations while hitting the check off list would be great for me. The Menagerie idea would help target the exact perk you are looking for while knocking out the secondary perks with the three slot from mine and Mactics’ ideas.

As a solo player - I'd just appreciate drops around other activities - that are harder to obtain than simply running Dual Destiny but still give me a chance to obtain it. Other than that - some sort of "turn in dupes for a roll you want" feels practical at this point.

Got my third Spirit of the Assassin Spirit of Harmony roll yesterday. I can't even describe how bad it feels getting multiple duplicates when there's 60 other rolls you can get. No duplicate protection is awful and I can't believe it was shipped like that.

@SwaggyDabs6969 Yeah, it feels awful. The last time I tried farming for class items, I stopped after getting 4. Each of the 4 were duplicates of something I'd already gotten, and 2 were even duplicates of each other. They were my 3rd and 4th Assassin/Synthoceps drops. It's an okay-ish roll, but I don't need 4.

Let us reroll the perks for an ascendant shard! It turns a 1/64 infinite farm into a 1/7 farm if you get one of the perks you wanted first then reroll the second one.

I kind of like the idea but how would that work for one of the exotics that has a perk that isn't normally available on the class like star eater on warlock?

Did the chest farm in pale heart and got two dupes. And every single cloak i have, has heart of inmost light. Been grinding for liars/caliban for like a week now

Been grinding for a Eternal Warrior/Star Eater on Titan for about 4 weeks now. Got fed up started going for Liar/Cariban. Dropped on my 2nd chest. The moral of the story is that you'll get godly shit for your off classes. Never for the one you want to play

You’re complaining about getting heart of innmost light? That’s like THE best first column choice for anything that isn’t a melee build. The meta right now is innmost + Cyrtarachne so hold on to it if you have it. I farmed 124 before I got a good heart of innmost light.😢 Oh I’m also on 154 right now without that liars/caliban combo dropping lol

I wish they'd add exotic class item crafting. Get a roll, unlock that exact combo to be crafted again later. Dupe protection happens against unlocked patterns. Saves vault space from rolls that you're saving for later and fixes the farming RNG

I like the idea of unlocking crafting patterns for the exotic class item, but I just know that someone at Bungie is looking warily at the idea and wondering "What else are we going to have to add patterns for if we open the Pandora's Box that is 'crafted armor'?"

Is there a reason patterns for ergo sum and the class items can't be added to the enclave? Whisper of the worm, Dead Messenger, and Outbreak prime are craftable with additional perks that had to be unlocked by running the exotic missions and looking for specific items.

That’s the worst idea ever, the reason we don’t care when seasonal weapons drop is because we can craft them so they only matter when they drop with a red border. Just look at Into the Light update with onslaught, it made getting random loot exiting again because you knew shinnies were rare and it was limited time. So making Exotic class items craftable will completely ruin the chase and the appeal of them.

I *was* a game designer, and my theory is that they simply want people to try combinations that are outside the few that streamers decided were good even before the class items were released. Frankly, I think that's been working whether people like it or not. Loads of comments on build videos have something to the effect of, "I have X combination that's similar, but does Y way better!" There are probably dozens of combinations that would have never been tried if there was target farming. Additionally, this is a good way to very quickly force the community to test and see if there are any wacky broken combinations they need to tune before they turn on target farming, which I guarantee they have built out already and will come eventually. In game design, it's usually better to err on too harsh and make it better/easier/better after, than too loose out of the gate and require nerfs. Everyone's pissed about the 25% -> 33% still hunt nerf change, but it would've been a different narrative if they originally stated 40% and live value ended up being 33%

Except this falls apart when you don't even get one of the perks to be the one you want, or you want a specific roll that wont drop. What the fuck am I gonna do with the several thousand Ophidian + Wormhusk rolls I get? What combo can you make with these?

This was done on purpose with the plan to do most of what you laid out here if not this week, then soon. They want to keep people playing as much as possible right after an expansion drop, so they devise this way to grind these class items. Once they read the room, take the temperature, they will roll out the de-dupe protection and availability across more activities. They will ride it out until the backlash crescendos

i really like the Aeons idea where you can slot the exotic perks you want but you have to farm or do whatever to get the perks even if it wont affect me since, (humble brag) ive gotten all 3 GR that ive wanted

once you get a perk you unlock it in the crafting device. go there and pay a shard to modify your class item. all done.

What i thought could be a good solution is, crafting it! Everytime you complete the dual destiny mission you get 1-2 perks and when you have all of them, well you can craft any combo you want on all classes!

They should allow you to focus class items with either Rahool, or ghost in the pale heart. As well as the drops from other activities as mentioned

Great video. My thoughts on how to fix this are to make Exotic class items (and anything else that can have a random perk roll) craftable. Get a drop, dismantling it unlocks those perks in the crafting tree. This way you're still incentivized to do the activity and collect more rolls but you widdle it down to the single one you want over time, this way you only need to have one in your inventory that you recraft when you want to change the perks.

Combine Items to gain all the perks so we only have to have 1 of each item. So if you have 2 class items and they both have 2 different perks, a total of 4 different perks, then have the ability to merge the 2 class items, then 2 class items become 1 and that 1 would have all 4 perks. Then you could keep merging class items together until you eventually have all perks unlocked on that item. You do the same with guns, and have all perks unlocked on a gun, then its just a matter of changing perks to how you want it. You could even enhance individual perks. It would give people a reason to farm again without taking up vault space and remove the need to hoard duplicate weapons.

Since I'm a solo player, I mainly gave up on getting this and microcosm. Before someone says it, the reason I don't use lfg or fireteam finder is because of anxiety so I like to farm alone.

I think the easiest-to-implement (not a game dev) would be to add the "other sources" option, specifically at one that are already FinalShape/Exotic-related: 1. Allow focusing at Rahool (but maybe make it on the more-expensive side (ie require Cyphers or extra golfballs compared to standard exotic armor). 2. Have Xur sell a specific-but-random roll for each class each week similar to Hawkmoon (and DMT previously). 3. Have Vendor-Ghost have a small (~5%) chance to drop one when cashing in a "random"-engram to him.

Vouch for dupe drop protection, now there's an incentive to run DD to get the drops faster but it would also just in general help the painpoints both solo and group people have and set a clear destination where you will eventually have everything

I haven't been grinding because A) drops are rare, B) there's a 1/64 chance of getting the drop I want, and C) the exotic effects are tuned down enough that I don't find them enticing enough over the standard exotics to warrant using. I think a good first step is to allow exotic focusing at Rahool for the class items and to introduce them as drop sources for Nightfalls, Master Raids, Trials, and Gambit.

Think of the Coil, a seasonal roguelike activity. When venturing in, you have a chance of getting a perk from class items and can select between 2-3 different (maybe upgrade giving you more choices). After a few more floors, you now get the option to select the second perk -- also from 2-3 different options... IF you now complete the activity and hard final boss, you get to keep the class item you "built". Better chance of having synergy between the combos of the item, and makes you SWEAT if you have bad blueberries and you're last man standing vs the boss without any revives :)

Seconding things I think people have mentioned. Dupe protection and/or each time you get a drop it unlocks that exotic perk as a mod slot. Even if you have to pay a bit to enable that per perk, though I feel like that sort of overhaul might be a little harder than dupe protection. Structure it like the Aeons items where you can select perks, even if it has an associated cost once you have a perk drop on an item. That would also allow us to condense how many class items we have because I mean wow, vault space is instantly a problem again because of two exotics that can have random rolls. I think drop rates are fine, though I'd have no complaints with them being enabled as a drop pretty much anywhere, but the lack of any sort of protection is just a bit silly with how many combinations there are.

If they allow you to lock one side (give it a high resource cost) and the re roll the other side the way we used to reroll masterworks (low resource cost) back in the day, i don't think anybody would complain. Do the same with ES with its frames/ abilities. ES will be easier because then all you had to do is farm the desired elemental attribute.

What would also help this problem, and I apologize if someone else already suggested this, is let the exotics have multiple perks you can select from. You would still have the same perks available in the same column slots but if each exotic dropped with three perks available in each column you could choose from, you could potentially get the roles you want way easier and also not have to hoard dozens of these things in your vault.

I think they should make it so when you get a class item, it stores the roll in collections. So you can delete them and save vault space and grab them when you need them. Also they could use the collection as a reference when doing dupe protection.

I think they should introduce class specific bounties in the tower (now that we have a full vanguard) and once you reset your rank with said vanguard member you get a class item. That then allows you to focus for ONE specific trait on your next drop by using LOTS of endgame materials. Rewards you for playing your fav class, also gives Solo players a more entertaining way to grind for the god roll

A system similar to weapon crafting would be nice: 1. First run you get the base item with slottable perks 2. Dismantle the actual exotic at Rahool to get the Exotic spirit 3. Or run normal Dual Destiny for a chance at an exotic spirit you don't have 4. Or run a Legend/Master Dual Destiny for a guaranteed exotic spirit This would encourage other exotic farming methods while leaving the option to run the activity itself but still have RNG elements or git gud. Then the problem becomes what other elements can make normal DD worth it each run like mats or Ergo Sum rolls. Could even implement a weekly guarantee on first run (so if running Master on reset, you'd get 2 exotic spirits)

i wish you can pick any two exotics from the game regardless of class and slap it on, but you choose what component of said exotic to get rid of. It doesn't matter which part you have to get rid of it has to be something in the exotic in order to make it, costing a exotic cipher and a frame for it. how you get the frame by playing dual destiny or chest farming. I think that will elevate the pain while also giving creative freedom because all i want is creative freedom and be explosive P.S. I know all exotics don't work with other classes because of super/ability requirements but maybe they could add a way to pick what super or ability it effects when making it idk.

With checking if its in your vault already, that would assume that you have enough room in the vault for each copy. Could be hard to ensure theres enough room for people

To keep things as simplistic as they can be, Bungie already has a mechanic in game as of right now that targets a specific "roll" for gear. In master raids, there's a modifier that helps ppl target specific stats on their raid armor. The exact same thing, but for the perks on the class items. To go a bit further on this (aka my own ideas) would be to make a week dedicated to let's say half of the first column and the 2nd column would be daily (or make both daily idk don't complicate things already). That way every possible roll will be able to be farmed and specific rooms can be farmed even easier. Edit: obviously some sort of dupe protection would also be nice

The best solution would be having the class armor craftable or slotable, for the first clear you get the item with 2 random rolls and the pattern, or maybe you need to do it 3 times for the pattern. After that you just unlock 1 new perk everytime it would drop from the mission. Chests in the patrol could be still just drop the item with rnd rolls.

i think one big problem that people are not saying is if you get every one of the class items that is 192 slots in the vault why i suggest to maybe make it into crafting once you have obtained the perk you are able to craft it this saves time as your more likely to get that perk once and saves a but load of vault space. This can as well be done for Ergo sum

My potential solution is give Xur the old D1 Glass Needles, and have them be used to reroll 1 perk of choice, I say 1 so that you're at least improving the odds of now always having the 1/8 chance of getting the perk in each column than rerolling both perks and constantly rawdoggin the 1/64. Got Star Eater/Syntho cloak but want Caliban? Reroll column 1 and know that Syntho is safe. I also think this would help rejuvenate Vanguard/Gambit/Crucible since now there's the incentive to get strange coins flowing in to fund the class item rolls, which in turn helps people rank up Xur and maybe get some old seasonal goodies at random.

They could make it so you can pick a perk which is guaranteed so you get a roll each time with that perk so you have a higher chance of getting the roll you want since one of the perks is already gonna be there, it would be similar to attuning to a weapon in into the light kinda, they could also just make it so you it only increases the percentage of that perk dropping or even you get to add a higher percentage of two different perks dropping or just one in each column

My idea is simple. Add a second or even a third colomn of perks to exotic class items. That way A. You can swap perks on the fly for different builds and B. They won’t clog up your vault as much.

I have a solution where you don't need a knockout system, a dupe system, or any rng protection of any kind. Are you ready? Make them craftable. Like they should have been from the beginning. All problems solved instantly and seamlessly with no mess or fuss.

Literally dozens of lfgs on the in game fireteam finder at any given time. Ran it about 40 times with randoms with little to no issues.

I think there should be a dup protect system since it would still be a grind to get them all but worth it and feel rewarding. I also think that the perks should be crafted like guns, once you get it you unlock that combo then you can slot them in so you are not taking up so much room in your vault

The simplest thing (from a non-dev perspective) for them to do would be to make them focusable at Rahool. That way you can just pull a few here and there without having to grind like crazy if you don't want to. It won't necessarily speed things up, but it'll make it a lot less painful than farming DD.

I suggest a rotation similar to how lost sectors were. So days one through three would lock in Spirit of Assassin, Inmost Light, and Ophidian, respectively for all classes and the second perk would be random. Day four Warlocks have Stag locked, Hunters get Dragon, and Titans get Severance. This would mean that over 16 days you would be guaranteed to have at least one of each perk if you only ran it once per character. I have like 25 right now which isn't much compared to most but none of mine have necrotic or verity and I've had 3 exact dupes. It would still be a bit of RNG and force players to grind without guaranteeing the combo they want but not being borderline negligent of wasting players' time like it is now

I would love to see a harder difficulty version of the mission that has a guaranteed chance for a second class item or trading 3 exotic engrams at Rahool can get a class item

Make them attainable for Pathfinder completions. Allow Rahool to spot farm the item through exotic engrams. Increase the drop rate when completing Ng objectives in pale heart patrols.

To add to your great ideas - here's (what I think would be) a relatively low-bar solution: a master/grandmaster difficulty that offers x2 perks. Make it much tougher, but in return you essentially get 4 drops (2 perks in each slot so 4 combinations). It'll also help me on my vault space lol

Dupe protection seems to me the easiest fix for now. My concern is with random roll exotics taking up vault space. I'm a packrat when it comes to this kinda stuff and I have a hard time deciding what to dismantle when cleaning out the vault becomes a necessity. Having 64 of the same item taking up vault space on the off chance that a buildcrafter might come up with something exciting to utilize them with is not healthy for me. Nevermind all the copies of Ergo I should get rid of but can bring myself to.

Treat it similar to legendary lost sectors. The exotic armor should have a limited number of perks from each column it could potentially drop with, and those perks rotate daily

Duplicate protection is a must and more drop sources would be amazing. Running the same activity back to back ad naseum feels bad. What if these were the only things you were chasing? I'd hate to be in that position. Mactics' suggestion about having it drop from any source, like a world drop ,would be great. Maybe it could be XP threshold -based like a bright engram. More vault space is gonna be needed unless we get that Aeons-type solution that someone else suggested.

Getting them from more activities and/or pathfinder seems like the best solution. Maybe even have Xur sell one per week. If they are able to change the time to be like aeons that would be amazing too cause 64 vault spaces is a lot and even they aren’t all viable they still gonna take up a lot of space. I’m not a completionist so having them all doesn’t matter to me but I know many do.

I like the idea of actually having something to grind for in this game it’s just that your options are either open chests in patrol or play the exact same mission over and over again. All I’d like to see is the ability to focus exotic class items from rahool or something

Add a disenchanting system, "exotic dust" or something that can be obtained from scrapping class exotics (and maybe even other exotics) then, when you have a specified amount, let you trade the dust in for a class exotic of your choice. Could even have the number be very high like needing to scrap 20-30 exotics. This is ironically a problem that WoW had back in legion 2016 and this is exactly how they solved it haha

⭐️ Solution: 1. make craftable 2. Every drop unlocks 1 perk from the list similiar to unlocking the different stages for exotic weapons like revision zero, outbreak perfected, etc. 3. Profit Still RNG but less rng with more time spent until you can make whateva you want

I feel like considering it’s not a random stat roll I feel like it would have been better to be like a craft able exotic mission so every completion you would get one or two perks and when inspecting your class item you can just change the perks but you still have to get them

I like the idea of a Diablo approach, being able to re roll maybe one perk on the class item like 3 times and then it bricks. Doing this at rahool for ascendant shards perhaps?

You should be able to lock in one of the traits, like how you can use a ghost mod for armor stats. That at least keeps the grind down, but still keep it as a grind.

Frankly my problems lie not exactly with the dupe-dropping problems (although i’d like some form of protection) my issues lie moreso in the perks in it of themselves. At least as a warlock, it feels better to just use the regular exotic than to have the perk on the class item.

Here's a little idea; a hard mode version of dual destiny that allows you to pick one of the perks on your exotic. Another piece of challenging content, and a (sorta) way to prevent dupes while still keeping some of the RNG factor

Honestly, I like the chase. I like the odds being low that I get the one that I want, it makes the feeling of getting it more exciting. Now I do understand that it is a pain point for others so making the class items drop from harder activities would be fine with me. Stuff like nightfalls, even hero, comp, the exotic rotator.

I think they should introduce a ban mechanic similar from Season of the Hunt. Make it so that you can choose which perks you want to avoid, reducing the RNG without removing it completely.

Honestly, they should give the class items ability point stats (strength, demo, recov, ect) to one random stat, with some really extreme extreme boosts. So lets say you got a stag/vesper bond for the 5th time that session, but it has 20 recovery on it. This way, getting dupes, and combos you dont want, wont feel as bad since they'll be able to have the upside of having bonus stat rolls that could help out a build.

I think the easiest solution would probably just be to add double drops to DD and increase the drop rate in the pale heart on a schedule similar to the reputation boosts. Yeah, there'll still be rng, but at least it would feel less painful farming for the roll you want.

Menagerie idea is interesting. I think they should just drop with a few perks in each column so you potentially don't need to hold a million different ones when it is all said and done.

I'm pretty miffed about the sheer volume of vault space ergo sum and class items take up. I'd love if there was a system where we could unlock the perks and select them like Aeons. I don't even care if the items only have a 25% chance to drop a perk mod on disassembling, just let me work towards having a library completion that I can use on one item. For Ergo Sum I would be fine if it was craftable, but the options only unlocked as you found each frame/perk.

Lack of duplicate protection is the reason I haven't played in 3 weeks. I just gave up after hours and hours of solo farming Pale Heart (no macro) and getting back to back to back dupes.

I think they should have the class items drop from any/all activities in the game (small chance) And if you decrypt an exotic engram at rahool (nonfocused) that too has a small chance at giving an exotic engram

I say the same thing that I said in mactics video. As long as the exotic is locked behind quest completion, keep it the way it is. If it drops from everything, then it shouldnt be quest locked.

My Apothesis/Star eaters would like a word🤣 Prep prismatic, proc x5 Star eaters, pop song of flame, abuse the Apothesis ability regen when song ends, pop prismatic if there is anything within 100 miles of you still alive. It's like having Sunbracers proc'ed for a solid minute lol.

idk if this would be good or bad, but what if the rng was weighted so wearing an exotic that features in the class item boosted the chances of that exotic being part of the roll? it's a very niche version of focusing so a more normal method would be better probably, but it'd be a cute way to do it.

As a person who have been casually playing since D1 came out, I don’t have the time to care, I play solo, I maybe play 4 hours a week and I still haven’t played the dual whatever you want to call it, I’m good with the exotics that I have, honestly I’m ok with not having everything in the game but I do understand that there are people who do care, so for me if the changed the drops rate it doesn’t bother me bc I don’t play pvp

Following the Menagerie's Chalice logic, what I would suggest is, what if you could select 3 perks from each column to be possible drops. So until you reset that chalice, all of your class items will have 1 of the 3 perks selected from each column. 3rd column A B C perks and 4th column A B C perks. So a combination of AD or BF can't drop, only AA BB CC AB AC... etc, you get it. If bungie wants to be stingy and wants to prolonge the grind because this feels waaaay too focusy *to them*, then make it 5 perks. 5 possible perks in each column, let us lock out 3 from each column I think that is a fair thing.

The frustrating part for me is that there are so few perks that I want to use for my titan. All of my rolls have 0 or 1 interesting perks so unless that perk wasn’t available to my titan before, its worse than a traditional exotic

An interesting idea would've been to make them craftable (since we already have the relic on mars for crafting) and just running dual destiny to collect the perks. they could be one time use to make it a bit harder if Bungie wants... but none the less it might be better than what we have currently... just imagine, throw 2 perks and a random class item from your vault and BOOM exotic class item. Yes, still a lot of duplicates, but to that I have another solution, go to your ghost in pale heart and idk an X number of perks gives you 1 of the one you want, so you either transform dupes in what you want or combine them

If bungie doesn't go the route of full dupes protection, since that would kill the farming potential of the class items, maybe they could make it so that you can lock in one perk in one of the columns. That way, you'll still have to farm and grind for what you want, but the chance of getting what you want goes from 1 in 64 to 1 in 8

As a matchmaking only player who literally doesn't even own a headset for my console, I do find it odd that the farm for these is something I would do all the time but since I can't unlock them there's no point. So it seems the focus for farming was on the type of player like me who would just screw around in overthrow for hours but it excludes me since the mission can't be done without comms. Just seems like they got their wires crossed on their playerbase.

The only fix imo is to allow perks to be unlocked similar to to reworked/new quest exotics like outbreak perfected where you do things to unlock more perks on 1 cape, except we can change the perks without having to go to mars. you cant give players 100 more spaces but suddenly start making loot that requires collecting 20 of the same item. thats not ok.

One thing they should definitely do 100% is add all the combinations in the Collections so once we have unlocked a particular roll we can delete the item and get it back from collectionswhenever we want. These dont have stats so I cant see why they can not do that. Having to store 192 extra items in the Vault is NOT COOL.

At this point. The only complaint I have with it is that both players had to do the mindless 3 overthrow grind to find the mission. I wanna do it with a friend, but hes NOT about it, but I know he would love the mission.

Bungie can reuse the 3 missions needed to get microcosm. It already has mechanics that require 2 player synchronization. Maybe add a different mode for those missions where 2 players can only join and tweak the difficulty a bit. But this mode is unlocked if the player has already completed dual destiny once.

One problem I imagine Bungie would have with doing making it craftable is that it doesn’t take into account unique pairings. Let’s say you get two class items with completely unique rolls like inmost/liars and calibans/gyrfalcon. If you went to craft a class item afterwards, you wouldn’t just have access to those two rolls, you’d have now unlocked 4 combinations. This increase in new combos per new perk gets exponentially higher with each perk you get. However, one possible solution to this may be in requiring something like a pattern for each perk. For example, if you have three class items that all have inmost, then you can extract the pattern and use it for crafting (probably limit to one extraction per class item). That way the mission and grind for combos isn’t made irrelevant, but adds some bad luck protection if you keep getting bad combos.

I still say that each completion of the mission / chest drop should simply unlock a perk on the armour; rather than drop a new one. Then you can just reshape it to your taste. I don't mean crafting btw; I mean unlocking new perks in the column. There's probably a limit to how many perks can be in a column or something, but this feels like a good solution to me. Just me.

What about a Master Dual Destiny that drops a custom Exotic Class Item on the first completion then every week after you can get a new perk added to it until the whole gambit of combos is toggleable. Like how Exotic Missions drop each catalyst for the corresponding exotic each week/run. It would solve the duplicate problem, give harder content to chase and ease up vault strain

I dont know what the fix is for class items but I know having 64 for each class is not the play. With dupe drop protection what happens after you collect them all? What happens if you delete one you want to keep on accident? I think selectable perks is probably best but again I dont really know. Just hoping bungie does something soon.

Make it where you run the mission to unlock the item once. Then every time you run it you unlock another perk or two. Make it where we can change out the perks like they are mods. Also let the perks drop from other activities such as nightfalls, raids, dungeons, iron banner and trails. That way you have to do something that’s a little more difficult then normal content but nothing to bad.

By far the easiest solution is just give it dupe protection so you always get one you dont have. You'll still need to farm 64 class items but you'll get what you want in far less time. Seems like an easier fix on bungie's end too vs reworking the mission or adding focusing to it.

I think the mission itself should be the way to get the exotics. But have feats inside the mission allow for multiple perks per class item dropped. 0 deaths extra perk. 0 mistakes on the clocks extra perks. 0 mistakes on the symbols extra perk. 15 mintues left on the timer. Have it max outt with 4 extra perks each exotic class item for a total of 6, 3 in each slot and that would cut the RNG down and each time you run you get faster and better at mechanics. This would also focus on do you want to go for speed to hit the time threshold for and extra perk or flawless 0 deaths , or do you want to make sure we. Get all the puzzles and clocks right.

I don't think dupe protection is necessarily the answer; it depends on how the dupes are tracked. Say you got a Verity Stag bond and disassembled it to save Vault space, then something in the meta changes to make Verity Stag the god roll; if it's acquisition that's tracked you are SOL, but if it actively checks your characters and Vault for every drop, I can see that acting as a massive constraint at the systems level. I think a return of the Menagerie system, or some other partial focusing system, is the answer. E.g. You can select the perk in one column for the next drop, but the other column is still random. I'm also not suggesting this has to be free, but it also shouldn't be mind-bogglingly expensive.

I know Bungie and game devs in general get shit on a lot, but it's situations like this that really make it feel warranted. Like, if you told the community beforehand that there would be a relatively difficult exotic mission that unlocked a modular exotic with 64 combinations per class that also had no dupe protection or way to get double perks or some other similar effect, everyone would've said they needed to do something about that before it ships. People realized that farming for this would suck just hours after the mission launched, either requiring players to rawdog a 20-30 minute exotic mission over and over for, generously speaking, a single digit percent chance of getting the item they want, or making them run D1 launch era planet material farming strats to farm in the pale heart. Anyone with a brain could've told you it would at least be a community pain point or worse, but Bungie apparently never even considered it. The mission itself is awesome, but the reward structure makes Bungie look apathetic at best, and plain stupid at worst.

You run dual destiny and it gives you a blank exotic w 2 open slots. You then run it again, and again and again until you get the specific roll on empty slot 1. You then lock in that drop. You rerun more dual destiny for slot 2 until you have exactly what you want.
So, the Final Shape is Over... Now What?
