If the world wasn't the way it is, maybe yes. However, the woman is African- American so I understand her concern. I'm a big sister and I have the same concerns as my younger brother is getting older and now he wants to wear his hair in a "big fro." He also wants a job, and guess what the first thing they told him when he got his first job a couple weeks ago was to cut his hair and he had to. Same with our dad he had dreadlocks, he also had the qualifications but the employers were not impressed with his dreadlocks. There is a stigma attached to our hair its texture, type, look, styles (dreadlocks, afro, cornrows etc...) on us in particular whether or not society chooses to acknowledge it, and its not right, but it is what is it.

Amirah Adams That kind of discrimination in the job market makes me absolutely sick. I dont judge based on appearance but instead who you are inside your heart. Getting turned down for a job because you're being your true self is cruel.

My son grew his hair out for 2 years. He wanted to look like a long haired hippy. It was a phase. He cut it when he was 16 and has no desire to grow it out again. So sometimes it's best to allow your kids to express themselves as long as it's not hurting anyone.

Hair represents a phase of life and the state of mind.. it's not just hair.. as the mind keeps transforming, and a person changes or goes into a different phase or state of mind, a person changes hair style.
@lelavakele8613

Just let him be who he is. He's old enough to cut his hair whenever he wants. He'll be 18 soon so he'll be an adult and you can't tell him what to do anymore unless he's living with you but come on man over a haircut? If you don't like it then you might as well go and evaluate yourself for not letting your son be who he wants to be and how he wants to look like. If it unsettled you then you can always look the other way lmao.
