I did put a lot of effort into this one and I remember having a lot of struggles with stacking the multiple clips on my old laptop with 4GB of RAM so your comment means a lot!! Thank you so much for your comment LegaCy!!! 🙏 🙌

I really appreciate that Michael!! If you only knew the half of it... It's been an adventure so far for sure. On my first video I literally knew nothing about recording or editing videos. I've always wanted to learn FCPX and making these videos is forcing me to learn the fundamentals. I have been learning and incorporating new editing techniques with each lesson I make. Another app I've always wanted to learn is Logic Pro but I'd actually dabbled with that one before. I took some online tutorials back in college when I was convinced I wanted to become an EDM producer but hit it wall because I didn't play guitar very well and knew nothing about music theory. Now I'm challenging myself to make covers like this one which took way longer than it should have because of some really simple mistakes I was making but I will know better on the next lessons. I also just got a dedicated camera which I have always wanted but right now I have no idea how to use it. For example, in the middle of a lesson the other day, I found out it was trying to auto-focus on the light reflection on the bottom part of my fridge. Again I have no idea why but I will figure it out eventually. When it is in focus there is a huge difference in quality. I was pretty happy with how much of this video turned out. That's probably the main difference you're noticing vs. the older ones. Each lesson from here on out should have improved and quality but also take me less time. At some point I will settle on consistent format that I like and doesn't take as much time. Then I can pump out more videos without having to worry about how I am going to record and edit. That's been the goal from the beginning but just have to keep grinding these out in the meantime...

@@LibertyLoftLessons That’s the inspiring backstory I was hoping for haha that’s honestly sick to hear man, There are a lot of people in this world who get stumped by the first hurdle and just back down from the challenge before it’s even got going. It’s cool to know that you’re in a constant process of consciously improving your musical skills whilst simultaneously upping your game on the production side of things. I started playing guitar in March as a complete beginner to the instrument and became immediately hooked on it which quickly led me to start looking for lessons on some of my favourite songs which you happened to be posting so I’ve watched the quality improve over time which is pretty great for me because I know I’ll have a steady stream of stuff to learn haha Oh also I may be here to add a request for ‘Big Jet Plane’ or ‘Chateau’ by Angus and Julia Stone 😂

Yes once you start seeing progress it is hard to put it down! For me the fingertip-pain phase and the bar chord hand-cramp phase were the two biggest hurdles, then it's smooth sailing from there! I never really set out to become a "KZbinr" when I started. I just wanted to try to make one or two video lessons for a songs that I had to learn myself to help a handful of other people like me (and my future self also). Then a couple of requests came in that I thought I would have a go at and it's quickly turned into this full blown community of people just like me. For that same reason, I also don't really care about view counts or stats per say. For me 400 views on a Marlins Dreaming tutorial is just as cool as 4,000 views on a Khruangbin tutorial. I love them both the same, but you wouldn't expect to find the Marlins Dreaming tutorial so to me it's more valuable in that way. Somebody will find that and it will hopefully inspire them to keep going, the same way I was inspired by the off-the-path indie lesson videos I started off watching (albeit mostly one-off videos from random channels). If they choose to subscribe they may discover some other cool songs both in the lessons and especially in the comment sections. I have discovered so much music that I probably would have never found if it wasn't for you guys so it's like we keep feeding off each other. It's amazing. 'Big Jet Plane' and 'Chateau' are two of my favorites! There is an excellent tutorial out there for 'Chateau' (I know because I remember learning it from this guy when I just had to learn it myself a year or so ago probably). You should check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZvaoqmPm8aihs0 I remember making a Snapchat cover for that one but I can't find it atm ha

@@LibertyLoftLessons Creating something for the pure sake of helping others and having a bit of fun Is what KZbin was originally about really so I guess a back to roots approach like you’re taking in regards to viewership and such is probably about as pure as KZbin content creation gets so more power to you man. Gonna go learn chateau now, cheers 😂

My family was giving me crap for it at Thanksgiving lol but this was a one-take guitar and vocal at the same time which I hardly ever do so it was tough. It was more of a warm up for The Sun Comes Up so I didn't spend any time in post-processing. I think this was the third take overall that I figured I could live with but covering this song was definitely something I've been wanting to try for a long time! A crap vocal is always better than no vocal imo. I appreciate it though Zan Zee!! 🙏 🙏

What's up Alex!! Nice one!! Looks like a Am-C open chord progression for most of the song which sounds amazing! Actually Coyote by Dope Lemon uses the same progression and has a very similar groove but much slower of course. I really like this band though! The verse reminds me a lot of Great Gable for some reason ha awesome stuff!!

What synth, drum machine is that!!
@LibertyLoftLessons4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tris! So it's actually a midi controller I have called the Nektar LX25+. I have a Mac so the DAW I use is Logic. Through Logic I am able to select different drum kits, drum machines, and synth sounds that I can control using my midi controller. I hope that makes sense!

Amazing as always! You should do Bones by Crumb at some point. There’s a pretty decent tab on UGT and a cover on YT, but no lesson yet
@LibertyLoftLessons4 жыл бұрын
Yooo what's up Morgan B!! I just watched that cover! This is still my favorite Crumb song so I agree that this song needs a lesson on it. I don't immediately recognize many of the chord shapes but I think that would make for a more fun and interesting lesson for sure, both for you guys and myself. I'm definitely up for the challenge if I can carve out some time!!
